The impact of fist against guard was met with... little, if anything. Minoru registered the force of the punch and the momentum that he was soaking up, but his natural affinity kept him from true physical harm. It was probably not the strongest thing that she cou- Whoa! Minoru saw her shift her stance slightly and he stepped backwards just in time to see a hook come in, drawing back quickly enough that it glanced on the guard rather than going around it.

He was sure that if that connected, he'd be out a few ribs.

"How much percent of full capacity would you say you're going out right now? I can't say I've boxed a pro before." Minoru rolled his eye a little at Shari's... encouragement? As stated, they were here to bash each others' brains enough, with him having a special focus on keeping his brain jelly intact enough to make good use of the boxing star's number. Still, he wasn't doing this for her sake.

"Hey, I was going to already, but you're really killing the mood."

He shot a withering glance at Shari before realizing that he had turned his attention away from the fight. And in that instant-

Reiko smiled slightly. "I'd say I'm running on about half power. You're holding up well though. I'm impressed." Granted it wasn't too difficult to dodge a right hook, but the boxer was usually fighting with all she had. It had taken a little bit of persausion to tell her to lower the levels of her power because her master did not want to be cleaning blood off the ring, or having to tell her opponent's families. That's why the waiver was there.

As he shot a withering glance at Shari, Reiko gave a strong yell. "Hey! Where are you looking?" This was the moment, she brought her hand down low and brought it upwards with almost all her force, her mind telling her to hold back as the fist flew upwards, ready to connect with his chin. This would likely knock him down. If it didn't though, well... that would be kinda impressive wouldn't it?

Not many people could take an uppercut from her and not fall down.

Shari looked up briefly from her sketch to observe the fight. It was just coincidence that she did so just as Reiko was about to deliver an uppercut. A part of her recoiled in disgust, but the artist in her couldn't help but think of how great that would have looked. Hell, it would have been better than the one she was working on right about now...

Looking down at her partially finished sketch, she gripped her pencil in anger as she tore the page out from her sketchbook. Now she has to start a brand new one. Letting out a sharp "Fucking dammit" in English, she set about completing a new sketch.

Damn these fighters with their ability to punch in amazing and stylish ways, making her job all the harder.

-he was distracted. The punch connected with Minoru's chin. As he felt the full weight of it propagate through him, a tingle shot through the nerves of his "cheat"-enhanced chin. The sensation was odd, and instinctively, he knew: were it not for Eris, he would be short a working jaw. Sekigahara's eyes flickered as he stumbled backwards, shuddering at the jolt of sensation coursing down his back. It was as before: he had survived a powerful blow, and if anything, he looked more awake as a result of it than anything else. But his deadpan returned.

"Yeah, I was checking over there. But are you saying you have something to show me, muffin?" He exaggerated a wink. And that was way sleazier than he could have ever imagined it. He chuckled. "Bad manners, I know, but I'm new at this, so let's call that square?"

It was at this point that he had forgotten his mouth guard. "What was that one? Fifty-five or what? Hard to tell." He seemed more wary of Reiko now, his guard somewhat tighter, his stance firmer. It was still amateur, yes, but the boxer had Minoru's attention now, and he seemed appraising, deliberate now. Even if he could stand here all day and just take hits to the face, he still needed to get her down without hitting below the belt.

...So how would he do that?

She blinked. No no no. Reiko was definitely sure she hit him. Definitely sure. Fingers still shook from the impact. The boxer gripped her hand tightly, staring back at Minoru, appraising him. No... he wasn't like the other guys, but at the same time... there was something more there. Giving a small grin, Reiko brought her stance back up. "That didn't happen before..." The girl muttered to herself, turning her eyes back to the contestant with a grin, slamming her gloves together. If that didn't rattle him...

It meant she could go all out.

Bringing her foot forward, she stepped in, arm held back as a combination of momentum and raw power combined in her left arm. The punch was fast. Reiko had been told never to use it in a normal fight. It was for the moment where she had to go all out. The move her grandfather made famous. The Yamauchi Spear. But Minoru...

He could take it.

Shari meanwhile was busy with her second sketch. Normally she'd take her time with it, but having to start another one has made her impatient. She chose to ignore such things as figure drawing and simply set out with a idea and finish it as quickly as she can before she can. She quietly talked to herself in her native Norwegian as she hurriedly sketched,
"The girl gets... three-no, four legs. Boy gets... Can add a horn there... Dammit..."

She had to admit, this was exhilarating. It's been a long time since something has driven her to draw as intensely as this. She thought about looking up to see the others, but she'd rather not break her concentration. She was on a hell of a streak now and she had no intention on stopping.

Instinct told him. His bone would have been powder, his cheek tender hamburger, his brain oatmeal. She would have eaten him for breakfast. But as Minoru felt momentum take hold, head forced to turn against the impact, he felt the potency of Reiko's punch evaporating against his skin, almost as if contact with him boiled it all away. He staggered backwards slightly, partially his lower brain screaming for him to get the fuck into the other direction, but mostly from the sheer shock of experiencing this and coming out unscathed.

He was uncertain. Maybe even fearful. So he said the only reasonable thing he could.

"Bring it."

No no no! This didn't seem right. Was he made of steel or something? Just like the tapes. Arm back, step forward, punch! Just like Grandfather had done, every single goddamn time. Those tapes barely worked the amount of times Reiko had studied that move. The girl raised an eyebrow. "You know, I thought you were crazy, now I'm just not sure if you're human." Her tone was flat, but also curious.

"Well. You did say bring it!" Dashing in at the end of her sentence, Reiko compressed herself down, head underneath the boy's chin and then released. Springing upwards on her feet, her hand whipped forwards, aimed directly for the point of his chin. Her teeth gritted. "Try this one!" She grunted.

Suddenly, a flash of white across her eyeline, her stance relaxed, the spring untightened. "The hell? What are you doing Coach!?" A moment later the bell rung and the small crowd began a little chorus of boos.

"The match is his Reiko. I don't know how he took your spear and lived, but as soon as you try that uppercut, I know you're going too far. This was a test, not a match." The boxer shook her head and frowned. Turning back to Minoru she gave a shrug.

"I guess you win?"

The sudden ring of the bell was a definite shock to Shari, accidentally leading to her fumbling and drawing a line across her sketch of Reiko as a Mantis. The sound itself was bad enough, but now it's ruined yet another of her drawings.

Panting heavily, the knuckles on Shari's good hand turned white as it gripped the pencil she was using to draw while she began to gnaw angrily on her prosthetic while letting loose a series of muffled curses. She hated when this happened, either due to people interrupting her or sudden loud noises.

In her frustration, she proceeded to fling her pencil towards the ring while flailing her arm recklessly. As she suddenly realized her mistake, she took her hook out of her arm as she began panting, frantically looking for her utensil.

Minoru lowered his guard and realized for the first time just how sweaty his armpits were. Null physical or no, the adrenaline in his bloodstream was still screaming for him to do something with his nervous energy. With a shaky hand, he adjusted his hair, coughing into his hand. This entire interaction was a mistake, looking back on it. The coach at least had his wellbeing in mind, but now the crowd knew that he was some kind of rubberman. Luckily, he doubted it would linger in the public memory, but if he was going to be in contact with this woman...

But wait, he still had a way out.

"Eh. Call it whatever. It's a technicality, so you don't have to-"

Minoru felt a slight tap on his head. He turned to see an artist's pencil clatter to the floor amid the booing. Must have been that art nerd from earlier. He crouched down to pick it up and felt his legs give way from the sheer nerves. He stared at the pencil in his grip, then turned his attention to Reiko.

"Ugh. I guess you do hit pretty hard after all, even at half or whatever." He gave a lame shrug as he stood back up, sticking an open hand our. "Anyways, it was fun, I guess."

He paused.

"Do you shake on these things or fistbump or what?"
