WHERE THE FUCK IS MARIO
Reiko didn't really know how she got herself into these messes. Some would say her brash behavior caused her to seek out fights, or seek out conflict, others would say her trainer had a penchant for making his students suffer, even her grandfather talked about his time with Dango in his autobiography. Reiko had 'The Tip of the Spear, the Takashi Yamauchi story' open on her knee, dressed in shorts, a black mouthguard and her long hair was tamed into a ponytail, a boxing helmet placed around her face. She had her gloves hanging from her neck as Dango came back, grinning.

"You wanted a chance to prove you're ready for the Pro Test, right Reiko?" The Boxer nodded her head. It had been her father who sabotaged her last chance to get onto the Pro Test and it had been another year of training and waiting. But Dango wasn't about to let her through again that easily. She had to earn it. The fistfighter smiled slightly. "So what stupid idea do you have planned this time? It better not be something really stupid, I'll be pissed off..." She growled slightly, before putting the book down and putting on her gloves, black in colour. Gripping the material around her fingers she tested them with a few jabs.

"You'll do whatever is Reiko if you want a chance of getting on that Pro Test." The girl nodded and sighed. It was a truth she was all too familar with, Dango had the answer to her next step, but to get there she had to tighten up and play nice, punching her trainer would likely lock the doors of boxing behind her for the rest of her life. "I've just got to pass your little challenge, right? Then we're clear." Dango nodded slowly.

"Then we're clear. So get out there!" The girl was pushed from the impromptu locker room out onto the impromptu arena of sorts. A part of the center of the mall had been closed off and decorated accordingly with signs. Knockdown the Knockout! And a picture of Reiko herself. It was a challenge devised by Dango. If anyone in the crowd could go a round with Reiko and knock her to the floor, they got her phone number. Originally she was pissed. That wasn't the sort of thing she meant by a challenge, but it just meant that No-one could knock her down, she had to keep her phone number private after all.

Dango led his student to the ring and smiled. "Ladies and Gentlemen! This is a rare chance to see what kind of talent I'm cooking up in my gym on Matechi Street. If you can knock down my beautiful student here, she will give you her phone number, sounds easy doesn't it?" He grinned. "If you think it is, why don't you come up and give it a try?" Keiko slammed her hands together and smirked, not saying a word as she waited for the crowd to start volunteering, waiting for her first opponent and what tactics he would try to knock her down.

She wasn't going to fall down, not today, not ever.

"Sure, I'm game."

Some remote corner of Minoru Sekigahara's brain knew exactly what got him into these kinds of messes: unrelenting hubris, unremittant boredom, unaddressed insecurities. The part of him actually steering him through the beginnings of a crowd didn't. Minoru carried himself into the "ring" with a cocky smirk despite his beanpole frame. He knew something that the billed "knockout" didn't: he had a Persona, she didn't, and in theory, he could take punches all day long and still be okay.

And maybe it was a bad idea to test that theory out here, but he wandered through the ruins, got mauled by a Shadow, and only had ruined clothes to show for it. He was hot shit and that number was as good as his. Not to say that the fighter (boxer?) was bad. She was built like a hotshot fighter would be, and Minoru was sure that in any other circumstances, he'd be short one jaw and discover about five new bones he never had before if he had to go up against her for real.

The great thing here was that he didn't.

"So, what exactly are the rules here?"

Dango looked Minoru over and hesitated for a second. "There's no way I'm going to feed you to her. Reiko's dangerous kid, she might knock your block clean off, no power control at all." The boxer yelled at her coach.

"Hey what the hell! Don't turn people down, I'll fight anyone who's coming, he just needs to sign the form, right? So I don't get sued out the ass by someone looking for some free insurance." She slammed her gloves together and practiced jabbing. Dango sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Alright, kid, just sign here and we'll get you some gear. The paper says in brass tacks, that you're perfectly fine getting punched by the welterweight in the ring there. Nothing below the belt and if you knock her down, you win and you get this." He held out an envelope before putting it away again. "In there's her number and she said she'll always answer, unless she's busy. Confidence makes fools of us all I guess."

He opened a nearby locker with a helmet and some gloves. "When you're ready just put this stuff on."

Today was an interesting enough day for Shari. She was simply here to do some shopping. Groceries, new furniture, maybe some new pens. Either way, a boxing tournament had not been what she was expecting. She was always puzzled at the popularity of pugilism considering the popularity of other, far more useful martial arts. To her, she always thought of boxing as the child-beating drunkard of the martial arts community: looked down and laughed at by the community at large. Granted, it wasn't like she was in much of a position to learn the art of hitting people, but it was something to think of.

Still, it was good to find a place to sit. And she was curious at this whole event.

Walking up to the ring, she rapped her prosthetic arm against one of the posts to get someone's attention as she asked,
"Excuse me. What is the point of this? Charity to feed filthy orphans?"

Minoru shrugged at Dango's concern. "Thanks for the warning, but I can handle myself. And if something goes horribly wrong I tap out and go on my merry way, right?" It was understatement, but his confidence was unwavering, or his apathy unflappable. He pulled a small contacts case out of his pocket and removed his jet-black contacts before setting it down on the locker.

"Hope it's okay if I leave them here. I'd rather not have them shatter in my eye if possible."

He grabbed a pen and signed the release form.

"Yeah, okay."

He strapped on the fighting gear and regarded himself. It looked incredibly out-of-place on him, a scrawny, smug pretty-boy with the heavy gloves on and the headgear of a pro. He wrinkled his nose as the patinas of sweat hit him. As he climbed into the ring, he heard a hard knock coming from a corner. Minoru turned around to see a claw, then a person attached to it, then the European complexion. An international student?

"I'm here to get her number. There's signs all around, actually."

Minoru pointed as best he could with the thick glove on.

Dango gave a nod of his head. "Sure can kid. You just tell me you want out and you can get out. Sound good?" He signed the form and the trainer put it into his file with a small grin on his face. First target and Reiko wasn't in any kind of danger. The boxer practiced a few jabs before smiling to the newcomer, then jerking her head to the next newcomer. "Yeah. If this guy knocks me down, he gets my number. Its to show off my skills."

Dango shook his head. "No its for charity! Its just the charity is raising money for my poor gym." He nodded his head and Reiko shooed Minoru away from the ring and bashed her gloves together. "You ready? Don't feel too bad if I break your jaw." She was confident. Confidence led to making mistakes. The girl held her hands up in a blocking stance.

"Here. You can have the first hit."

Oh. Well, that seemed like a cause of equal or lesser value, thought Shari. Granted, she couldn't find a reason to care about this gym that she only just heard of. Gyms were populated by sweathogs and people compensating for their lack of sexual prowess, so she rarely visits them on her own volition.

Still, this seemed like it might be worth her time. Looking for a place to sit, she took out her handy sketch pad as she asked,
"I will sit here and draw. You can use it as poster, perhaps."

She might as well take the chance to earn some money while she's at it. That and there was something inspiring about two people beating the tar out of each other.

"...You do that. And I'll take you up on your offer!"

Minoru smirked as he reeled his arm back, planting his foot forward. It wasn't a polished stance at all, but instinct told him how to maximize his leverage and common sense told him that Reiko was just feeling him out. No need for her to dodge. He was a lanky little nerd in way over his head anyways. That was probably her thinking. And under normal circumstances, she would have been right.

He let loose a punch, arm snapping forward in an exaggerated amateur's right straight. He simply hadn't put in the work, and as his fist biffed off of Reiko's guard, it was obvious that (1) he wasn't trying to get around it and (2) even if it stung a little, he could hardly punch harder than a pillow considering the amount of punishment boxers endured. But that was totally, totally okay. He still had this even if he had to poke her to a countdown.

Minoru put up a guard himself, expecting Reiko to go on the offensive.

As his fist biffed off her guard oddly slowly the teenage boxer didn't laugh, or demasculize him. No no, this was a fight and respect to the opponent was the first thing her grandfather had taught her. The girl nodded her head as he put up his guard and replied with a punch that was at least twice the strength of his. Still not as violent. Reiko didn't come out of the corner like a wild animal, she liked to feel her opponent out first.

The punch came from an unextended fist, a jab off his guard. She delivered a stronger jab, finishing with an attempted low hook. The girl didn't speak, still respecting her opponent. Trash talking made you out to hide behind your words and Yamauchis didn't hide behind anything besides her own fist. Her eyes briefly flickered to the girl drawing, but no more than a passing second, her focus was on this contest entirely.

Shari sat by and observed the match in progress. She could sense some sort of energy between them, a sort of... understanding. The two were at each other's throats, but even then the two had a sense of... respect for one another.

All of this was utterly foreign to her, of course. Still, she's seen enough anime and played enough games to have a vague understanding of such a thing. Like Dante and Vergil, but far less interesting.

Sketching furiously on her pad, she shook her claw at the two as a sign of her acknowledging the pugilists.
"Continue hitting each other. Make yourselves useful."
