"I shall look forward to that meeting." Yuu said, as she took a bite of her parfait. She had to admit, not often she gets treated to a sweet delicacy, even if she was just along for the ride, it must be one of the perks of being friends with Gwyn Branson. She did briefly wonder how would she treat Taisuke though, given how she has a sparkle in her eyes for him.

She did hear the 'brag about' part, and she simply raised an eyebrow at Gwyn. The point of finding someone was not exactly for bragging rights? But then again, it would muddle the analogy and it'd just make things redundant. Instead, she took note of how the other girl finally mentioned her name. If one were to notice, they'd see Yuu's smile growing a bit bigger.

But she did notice that Asuka was reading something. Deciding to have Gwyn and Taisuke have their moments, she turned to Asuka and asked "What are you reading? Something interesting?"

So her name was Asuka Harada. Well, that mystery was finally solved, and Gwyn seemed rather pleased at that. Just pleased enough that Taisuke's comment on the play caught her offguard.

"W-Well, we may have went a little overboard, but I think it came out pretty well regardless. Not enough to make me the student council president, but excellent nonetheless." As she spoke, the young girl kept an eye on Taisuke, trying to note his preference for the sweet treat she'd ordered. It was a bit hard to read him, but speaking of reading, it seemed that Asuka had taken to reading... huh, well, that was a book she didn't expect to see out here. "... Ah, I didn't take you for a philosophy enthusiast, Asuka-kun."

Ugh, how do girls like these so much? Taisuke was not really enjoying the parfait too much. At first he was holding out but it was just too much. Sweet on sweet was just clubbing his palate like a sledgehammer to crack open a walnut. At least there was a strata of sour melon before, but once they got past that…way too cloying!

That said, he was invited there by Gwyn and it was rude to decline when offered. He was starting to see it as some sort of grim challenge to get to the bottom of the cup, but he did it with something of a poker face.

He wasn't sure how Gwyn defined 'interesting' but if a host cafe was her idea of a normal place to visit, then this Rin character already scared him… "Ah, you ran for student council president?"

Wait, how old was she? Just what was going on in Taiyoutono?

Asuka turned a few pages as she speed-read through them with the thumb of her left hand, while taking the spoon to the parfait with her right one. Multitasking was a thing she had dominated by then, and it was proving useful while she tried to do both things at the same t--

"..."

If there was one thing she detested, it was a distraction. To be fair it wasn't the smartest idea to just start reading right then and there, but she figured the trio had been so into their conversation that they wouldn't even notice her actions in the background. Her fault for misreading the situation.

"If it wasn't interesting I wouldn't be reading." She replied while lifting up the book so the cover was visible - Is Christianity Good for the World? - Christopher Hitchens translated version. "Yeah, I'm aware this isn't much of a thing around these parts, doesn't keep me from wanting to be educated."

To Gwyn's statement, she shrugged. "I'm reading it for the sake of strengthening my arguments. My mind's already pretty settled on the topic." She replied, setting the book down on her lap. With them talking to her specifically she wouldn't be able to read it at all, so there was no point in even trying. She'd just get needlessly worked up about those distractions.

As for Gwyn running for Student Council President in Taiyoutono, she made no comment. From that she deduced the youngest of the bunch was a second year - while it could be strange for them, it wasn't strange for Asuka. She had been offered to skip a few years but rejected the offer solely to get on her mother's nerves.

Yuu barely reacted to Asuka's retort, believing she was somehow dodging her question, before she saw her lifting the book to a more viewable perspective, enough to see what the mysterious book was about.

"Huh..." And she had to admit, a book of such nature was not exactly what she had in mind. And right there, she made a comment which seemed to serve as a justification of her book choice. "You are not being judged." She simply stated, as she took another bite from her parfait, her face still depicting an emotionless smile. Personally such a subject wasn't exactly important for her own person, so she felt it was irrelevant to her views.

That is, until she heard her answer to Gwyn, shedding light to the nature of her choice. "A debater, perhaps?" She thought to herself. It would explain her... Cutting expression.

And then the subject went again to the student council subject, to which Taisuke reacted with surprise. "I do wonder, do you have plans on actually retrying your attempt at becoming president next year? You could take what happened as a learning experience if you seek to try again."

Blissfully unaware of Taisuke's plight, Gwyn listened intently to Asuka's explanation, only taking a few brief seconds to make sure her spoon hit the mark on the parfait she shared with the lone boy of the group.

"It's good to read up on material that matters to you, but you should always be careful you don't end up creating an echo chamber for your thoughts," she mused, giving a smile to Asuka, "There's no point in being educated if you don't have an open mind, right?" Taisuke's surprised question and Yuu's own curiosity eventually steered the conversation back towards her unsuccessful bid for the presidency in Taiyoutono, which, well, while it wasn't her favorite subject right now, she still would oblige with answers.

"Yes, I know it's a bit surprising, but I AM a high school student, Taisuke-kun," she said, a teensy bit of pride in her voice as she did, "And... I haven't given much thought about it yet. Next year, my chances are statistically higher, more people will know me by then, but... I don't know, to be honest. If Seiji-kun does as well as I believe him to, I'd rather not steal votes away from him. He was the better candidate in the end, I was just looking for a way to fit in, really."

Did he say something that got misunderstood? Rather than further wrestle with the confectionery foe, he turned his full undivided attention to Gwyn. Yeah, she definitely thought that he said something other than what he meant to convey.

"No, I didn't mean that, I only meant that you running was noteworthy. I didn't mean to imply I thought it strange you were in high school. Nothing like that, Gwyn-san."

Though, now that it was brought up, she was kind of young for that, wasn't she? Definitely better to never bring that up.

"I just hope the upcoming schoolyear goes well." He had his own reasons for that. The sorts of things that just weren't mentioned to people you just met, new friends or no…

Asuka seemed tuned out to most things as a certain piece of advice reached her ears - Gwyn's, no less. They twitched slightly and she raised an eyebrow.

Who did she think she was? Some ignorant fool who was in it for self serving purposes and to feed their own ego? No, of course not. In her opinion, there was no such thing as being educated without applying the object of the study intelligently; those people were just idiots with an expensive degree. She sought knowledge. To reach a strong foundation to an opinion was merely the culmination of said study. It was ridiculous to assume she was merely reading what she wanted to read...

"How about you don't go on lecturing me about my own hobby?" She 'suggested', her tone devoid of niceness. "You don't know how my mind works at all, to automatically assume the worst is downright offensive."

If one where to look at Yuu, they'd see that she made a thoughful nod about the open mind thing. After all, a debater needed to strike a balance between an open mind, and a solid foundation of their ideas. Unfortunately, It seemed that Asuka took it the wrong way, and instead lashed out at Gwyn for it. "I fail to see how that's an appropiate response to mere advice." She merely said, her composture remaining in place.

And the Gwyn wondered if it was really her place to redo her bid in the next year, given how, in her own words, this Seiji character would do a good job. "If you believe that's for the best. Just remember to always keep a clear mind if you are to embark into such a endeavor again."

"You're absolutely right, I don't know how you work, mostly because you've sat quietly and read instead of conversed," Gwyn said, taking the barbed response from Asuka in stride, impressive considering her usual responses. "People can only understand others based on what they're shown. Personally, I simply went off personal experience in my polite suggestion. I wouldn't say it's the worst, though," she continued, a smile on her face as she locked eyes with Asuka.

"It's just an easy, honest mistake, and one I simply wanted to make sure you would avoid, Asuka-kun. After all, that's what senpais do for their kouhais," she finally concluded. Asuka had a spark to her, and sure, while Gwyn didn't exactly appreciate being snapped at, she could appreciate that fire. Plus, she was exactly what Gwyn was looking for in a kouhai; fiery, angry and clearly in need of mentoring! Asuka gave off that "angry first year" vibe, too! She'd found a prime candidate, hopefulyl she actually went to Taiyoutono and wasn't one of the various other girls Gwyn wanted to mentor who were in Hiro's school (and at times class).

"You'd be forgiven for thinking such, Taisuke-kun," Gwyn mused, switching subjects, "Though I share that sentiment... and for the record, Yuu-kun, I always have a clear mind when I embark on endeavors," she corrected the third girl there finally, punctuating her point by shoving a parfait-filled spoon into her mouth.

"... Ah, this is rather nice, don't you think? A nice, quiet day, a sweet snack, lively discussion... Nagashima's got its own, unique charm, I suppose..."
