"...that sounds like a huge amount of pseudoscience to me." Trent looked baffled. "No reason to think that you're lying, but that's..."

Trent produced a coin from somewhere and flipped it five times, getting heads on all attempts. "Huh. Big coincidence or a ghost messing with us."

Upon Suzu's comment of the fact that she had a boyfriend, Trent scoffed. "...bet that not even in these conditions I'll be able to get laid."

The pale young man looked around upon Suzu's observation of the nature of the place. "Maid fetishes are a thing, which might explain why these people are acting all cutesy and stuff, but sweet things... I don't know about that." When she made that comment about adding salt to the meal, he turned to look straight into her eyes as he tried to discern her intentions... "...'s that a joke?" He didn't even sound offended in any way - it was more like he was trying not to laugh.

"I... don't think it's a coincidence. From the shit I've been readin' up on Bedlam, and what I've seen happenin'... Honestly, that odds stuff's t'least 'o my worries. So long as they don't fuck with me that is." Suzu shrugged a bit, finishing her order and looking at Trent's, knowing she'd have to eat it.

'Aw man, I'm dieting...'

...You literally ordered that for yourself...

"It's still creepy as fuck alright? Too... public. Fetishes are somethin' ya supposed to be doin' in the comfort 'o yer own home... unless it's some outdoor fetish I guess."

At the joke comment, her face remained blank. "Am I laughing?"

Internally.

"Well? Let's say the ceiling falls apart above you and normally there'd be a 50% chance for you to die but with Nagashima's weird probability it's a 90% chance. It can fuck you up." Trent paused and realized what he'd just said. "...that's an extreme case, though. Something out of a video game, even."

The conversation moved to fetish talk, somehow. "...even then that's not something you should just keep out for the whole world to see. Balconies are a thing--no, wait, you can still be seen by strangers there." He looked around. "Nothing quite compares to the maid cafe phenomenon, though. Maybe it'd be tolerable if the food was, you know, good and not just sugar-coated sugar-dripped sugar. On that note..." Trent called a waitress to come to the table. "Sorry, uh... can you bring me some black coffee? Without sugar this time?"

"Yes, master." The waitress left, this one without the cutesy spring to her step.

"...why are they calling me master. It's freaking me out."

Suzu then pointed out the fact that she wasn't laughing. "It's impossible to tell with you."

"I'm hopin' t'probability skewin' makes it 10%, not 90%." Suzu countered, though knowing it not to be true. She had already seen some of those probabilities at work - the disparity between students and regular people in terms of persona user ratio was immense, for example.

"Frankly I just come out here t'laugh. Came here yesterday, came here t'day, might as well make myself a regular." The redhead said. Despite not liking the general look, nor the service, the food was damn good.

What about that diet?

Thoroughly ignoring Undine, the girl proceeded to attack the poor anmitsu cup.

"Easy way t'be here is t'keep tellin' yerself yer the normal one really."

"We can't know that. It's not like this is a video game and we can see how probability works and what chances are at every given moment." Although Trent hadn't been a victim or a witness of Nagashima's skewed probabilities thus far, he had no reason to believe what Suzu was saying were lies. Despite their rough start and her general attitude, she seemed to know what she was talking about, and a person that made sound choices...

...or so Trent thought, right until she mentioned the possibility of becoming a regular in the cafe. "What." Although he could somewhat understand the reasoning Suzu was using, being in a place like that didn't make him laugh or feel entertained - it made him cringe. "...dunno about that. Normal people don't even go near maid cafes, period."

"...Yeah, but my guess is as good as yers, ya can only verify it via testin'. I don't wanna test that, thank ya very much." Suzu countered immediately, not feeling all that suicidal for a change. For all she knew, maybe those skewed probabilities were what caused Aleph to show up that evening in the first place, which was partially why she was forming a specific group to go that day.

By car.

Out of reach of that lunatic.

Whoa, slow your horses. I don't think he'd want to approach you AND that tea craving maniac at the same time anyway, that would be nuts.

'He's nuts.'

...Point taken.

At the maid cafe remark, the redhead shrug her shoulders in a sluggish manner. "Normal people? Really? Have ya seen where yer at?" Nagashima... Hah. "I dare ya t'name one single 'normal person' ya know. One. Compared t'good ol' Japan's notion 'o normal." She held one finger up as she spoke, reinforcing the point. "G'luck with that."

"...not precisely interested either." Whatever strange, eldritch probability phenomenons took place in Nagashima were not within Trent's scope of interests. It wasn't like they could actually help him, and he was gonna be harmed anyways.

Upon Suzu's rhetorical question, Trent leaned back on his chair and crossed his arms, seemingly deep in thought... and, after a few seconds, came blank. "...you win. Nagashima is weird." Certainly, he'd met a few people that could perhaps be considered normal, but he didn't know what they were hiding. Then again, wasn't everyone normal until you met them better?

Nah.
