"Because."

Before Ayame even had time to finish her spiel Trent had already hit the fast-moving puck again, seemingly effortlessly. It once again moved towards Ayame, somehow even faster this time and with a sharper angle...

Now, if only Ryouta had half Trent's skill. As Hideki returned the puck to him, the large man pressed the paddle down on it, stopping it. "Er..." Once more he leaned down on the table and calculated an optimal launch angle, making sure not to hit the puck with the amount of force he'd previously used.

And so he did. And the puck still moved horridly fast... but it was headed straight for Hideki's paddle. He only needed to stay still for it to bounce away and back to Ryouta's side.

"Woah!" Of course, anyone with experience would just keep the paddle in place and it'd bounce off to the next side, given how it was literally going at a straight line. However, Hideki was surprised by the speed in which the puck was going, and he moved his hand almost like a reflex, hitting the puck in a right angle, making the puck speed through the left side of the field.

He could have looked at the other side to see how Ayame and Trent were doing, but he opted not to be distracted, or else Ryouta might get the upper hand.

Ayame listened to Trent as he said because...Before firing the puck back towards Ayame's side of the table, causing her eyes to widen as she tried to focus on where It was going, It seemed to be faster then Trent's shot from earlier, "Think fast Ayame, It'll be there an---

It went past Ayame's table...Causing Trent to score a point.

"Second..." Berith said as he spoke again, "You did well anyway...I was impressed with your skill." Berith said to Ayame who suddenly...Smiled at Trent, before picking up the puck and aiming It at Trent's side of the table, "Well I guess I'll start this round." Ayame said to Trent happily as she carefully aimed at Trent's side...And fired by thrusting her paddle into the puck very hard, causing It to dart towards Trent's side.

"Do you think I'll get a score?"

"We'll just have to see for ourselves."

Trent had scored a point, it seemed. And with almost no effort at that. Not too long afterwards, however, Ayame picked up the puck from her side of the table and struck it with incredible force, causing it to move at vertiginous speeds towards his side of the playing field...!

He managed to strike it with his own paddle just barely. It was being returned to Ayame, but at a manageable speed this time. Oh.

As usual, Ryouta was struggling to keep up with even the slightest stimuli. When the puck bounced back towards his side he flailed his paddle around wildly, trying to strike it - and succeeding, sending it back towards Hideki at great speeds... so fast that he couldn't have reacted to it.

So bad that he didn't even need to.

The puck struck the edge of the wall on Hideki's side and returned to Ryouta, who then proceeded to freak out because of the speed of the puck and freeze in place. It then hit his side of the field and bounced back towards Hideki, a bit slower this time.

Letting a gasp of surprise when the puck returned to his side, Hideki tried to move the handle to hit it, but he missed. Luckily, it seemed that it did not go for the goal, and instead, returned back to Ryouta's side.

That moment of fortune would be shortlived however, as Ryouta struck the puck again, and Hideki was not prepared for it. Despite it going slower, he still wasn't able to hit it in time, and it bounced into his goal, giving one point to Ryouta.

"Wow, that one was intense!" He said, as the new puck game to the field, and he hit it so that it bounces to the right.

Ayame watched as Trent managed to strike the puck before It could hit his side of the table, "Not bad Trent-san...For an air hockey player." Ayame said to Trent as he pushed the puck back towards Ayame at a speed where she can focus onto It more clearly and know's where It's going, "You got this Ayame...Focus...Focus..." Berith said as Ayame did just that...But trying to ignore her persona so she can hit the puck.

And lucky for her she did.

In a matter of seconds, Ayame bashed into the puck, sending It back to Trent at more speed than before as she looked back at Trent before smiling again.

"I never thought an air hockey match would be so...Intense."

Ayame's vague taunts flew right over Trent's head. His mind was set in the game and he was not going to miss a single detail. When the blonde girl struck the puck with her paddle, sending it back to his side at even greater speeds, he was ready. Twitch reflexes were a wonderful thing, and he was capable of moving his paddle to the side to strike the puck back diagonally, sending it at an angle towards Ayame. Almost no speed had been lost. It was clear that Trent wanted to win...

The same couldn't be said for Ryouta.

"E-eh? I... got a point?" Even he was in disbelief over that fact. Hideki took the puck from his side and struck it, sending it at an angle towards him. Ryouta was slightly more prepared and struck the puck with full force, sending it at unholy speeds...!

To a wall of the table.

The puck bounced on said wall and went to the other, going back and forth until it had lost a great deal of kinetic energy. Ashamed, the large man merely struck it forwards...

When Ryouta struck the puck again, Hideki braced for his hit, as the puck was again going too fast.

Perhaps way to fast.

And yet, it's not... Moving. Not towards his field, but rather still remaining in the center.

...

Yeah, this is taking a while.

But eventually, it slowed down, barely reaching the second half of the field. Hideki simply scratched his head in confusion, as he leaned over to hit the puck. It was in his side after all, might as well go ahead and hit it.

Ayame watched as the puck speeded towards Trent side of the table...Before he whacked the paddle into the puck which was sent speeding back towards Ayame's side, she sighed as she prepared another hit from It as she quickly focused on the puck and waited for It to be by her table again. "I won't lose...Well I can, but Trent will probably not see me as a worthy opponent, should we meet in this kind of arcade again in the future." Ayame said as Berith tried to cheer her up. "So? It seem's he looks like the kind of person who would freak out and try to kill you If you win...So I won't count on It." Berith said as Ayame saw the puck come towards her.

And bashed Into it using her paddle.

As Ayame watched the puck head back towards Trent...She decided to be...Quiet for once?

For some reason, Ayame had chosen to remain quiet. Trent wasn't going to complain about that, though it didn't make him happy either. As the puck returned to his side, he chose to change up his strategy a bit and bash it frontally, sending it in a straight line towards Ayame's side of the table.

Ryouta's head was in the game too, but he wasn't nearly as good as Trent. As the puck headed towards him he struck it with his paddle, sending it off at an angle at high speeds. He recoiled once he saw how fast he'd made it go.
