"I think that will be a little too late for that Hideki." Ayame said as she finally received the dreaded game over screen and sighed, not bothering to put another token in to continue. Speaking of which, she took out her tokens and checked to see how many she had now. "Hmm, two more, I wonder what will be the last two game's were gonna play? Maybe that Silent Hill shooter over there." Ayame said looking around the arcade, Berith had other ideas. "Actually, that Hideki kid is doing fine in that title match challenge." He said causing Ayame to turn around and notice Hideki was still playing Puzzle bobble, she walked closer to him and watched him play. "Wow, Hideki you're doing great...Sorry If I'm distracting you." |

The match was getting complicated, and Hideki focused his eyes on the game, so much so that, for a moment, he didn't notice Ayame was playing anymore. The music was getting faster, the ceiling was closing in, and despite having a good start, the tiles were piling in much and much faster. But there was a way he would win! He had a shot to hit the root tiles and bring down an entire set of tiles down, and he was given the right tile to do this. One good shot could make him win, but one misshot could make him lose. The tiles began shaking, notifying that the ceiling was gonna come down again, and he needed to align it juuuuust right. It would have been a clear victory, but Ayame complimenting him was something that caught him off guard, as he didn't hear exactly what she said. "Wha-?" He asked, before realizing that the distraction costed him the match, making him lose. "Aaw, darn it." Hideki said, lamenting his defeat again. "Looks like you won this one Ay- Wait... Ayame-san?" He said, before noticing that Ayame was not playing anymore. "Ah, forgive me Ayame-san, I didn't notice you weren't playing anymore. I didn't get the chance to play something like this for... A while." He began saying, before he was suddenly reminded of his past. If she was attentive, she would notice that his last words trailed off a little bit, as his voice's volume lowered a bit, something quite odd. Then again, with how noisy the arcade, she might miss some of his words entirely. |

"Hmm...This kid is actually good at this sort of thing." Berith said until Ayame accidentally distracted him. "Until now." He said as Ayame gasped when she realised that she caused Hideki to lose, but was surprised that Hideki tried to excuse himself for something that was Ayame's fault. "Oh, It's okay Hideki...That was my fault really...But you were doing so great, almost as good as me...Almost." Ayame said as she noticed Hideki trailed off there for a second there, saying how he didn't get the chance to play this sort of game for awhile, causing Ayame to be curious. "Wait, for awhile? Is something wrong Hideki-Kun?...If you don't mind me asking." Ayame said being a good listener. "Wow, can this ear grating place get any louder?" Berith said soon after. While waiting for Hideki to answer, she looked around the arcade to find two more games to play but decided to let Hideki choose again. "I'll let you decide again Hideki-Kun, we'll do two more game's since I only have two tokens left...Or one depending on the next game." |

Hideki suddenly caught himself and realized that he blurted out something dumb. "Ah! Well, I mean, uuuh..." He didn't exactly know how to say, or even if he should, the loudness of the arcade didn't let him think straight. But then the topic was quickly shifted into choosing another game, something in which would help him deflect the attention. He simply pointed at random and said "THAT ONE!" That one being, House of the Dead 2 "I mean, if you don't mind, it's a pretty spooky game." He added. |

"Look Hideki." Ayame said patting his shoulder and looked reassured. "It's o---However before Ayame could finish Hideki randomly pointed to the House of the Dead arcade machine and called to it, causing some people to look at the two, Ayame ignored them and looked at House of the Dead...Two, it was similar to the Silent Hill shooter only with zombies and more intensity, Ayame just shrugged and followed Hideki toward's the machine. "Something's wrong with that kid..." Berith said to Ayame as she was walking toward the machine. "I'll bring it up later, I don't want to make this cheerful mood somber." Ayame said back to Berith as they made it to the machine. "Fine Hideki we can play this one...But only if we can play the prequel afterwards...Which is beside it." Ayame said pointing to House of the Dead one beside its sequel, It seems It was put there so it would be easier to find, Hideki wanted to know if Ayame was interested since it was a spooky game, she just scoffed. "I've seen crazier stuff then House of the Dead, It's spookiness sadly got converted to a more action thriller like most zombie game's these days to drag in those kind's of fans." Ayame said as she placed a token in the machine and looked toward's Hideki. "But I'll happily play it Hideki-kun, come on grab a gun and let's go save random citizens from zombies and other mutated creatures the evil lab company of the game "accidentally" made! Maybe we can make it through the entire game in one playthrough if were quick enough?" Ayame said as she prepared her fake gun. "Now this Is stuff I'm interested in." Reality appeared to occur in a blur around him. Pople came and went. Laughter could be heard, along with angry grunts occasionally. Although he was aware that the day was advancing and the sunlight coming in through the windows was changing slightly in color, none of it mattered to him. Trent Proctor seemed to notice none of the things happening around him as he concentrated on the game right in front of him. An arcade cabinet of DoDonPachi Saidaioujou, he was lucky to have found such a game. Back where he came from that kind of game was unheard of, but in Japan it seemed to be famous enough to merit there being a cabinet in an arcade relatively close to his home. 0 lives and 3 bombs. His eyes were no longer focused on the screen right in front of him - his vacant gaze sent vague waves of information to his brain as he moved his spaceship through the screen, dodging insurmountable wave after wave of projectiles aimed at him. He was on the last stage. It had been a long and difficult ordeal, but he was close to its end... Then, it happened. The speakers attached to the cabinet blared with a siren, as a boss warning appeared on the screen. The final boss appeared before him. The final frontier... A few minutes passed and he defeated it. Somehow he'd managed to use his bombs to maximum efficiency and he gained a life, but lost it to the boss shortly after. With 0 lives and 0 bombs left, the game had ended in success. The pale young man's heart was racing and he was sweating slightly - that had been difficult, and he hadn't even confronted the greatest challenge the game had to offer - the secret boss, Hibachi. He skipped the ending and submitted his score to the high score list - sitting at the first place of the list, his score, under the name EON, stood tall over all the other entries. It seemed to be that this cabinet wasn't particularly popular at the arcade, since nobody before him had cleared the game fully before... ...but now what? The only reason he had come was to take on the challenge of said bullet hell shooter, but now that he had done it there was nothing left for him to do. What's more, he still had an obscene amount of tokens on him... Eh, I'll have to spend them some other day. As he prepared to leave the establishment, something caught his eye. A person he knew was standing next to a blonde girl with her hair in a ponytail, both of them standing in front of an arcade cabinet - a rail shooter, no less. Nobody but Hideki Tachibana had such an extreme taste for the color orange. Silently, he stood behind the boy and saw he was going to play House of the Dead 2 with the girl... Ohoho. Hideki hadn't struck him as a particularly courageous person in any way, so maybe he was trying to show off for the girl next to him? Since neither of them had noticed him he just stood at a distance, intending to watch them as they played the game... His plans were to be foiled soon, however. Ah, nice! Learning that there was an arcade in the city he had moved to was a pleasant surprise. Since there was nothing better for him to do while he waited for his job to start, Ryouta murkami had chosen to pay the pace a visit to see what the local selection of arcade games. Entering the store and seeing the myriads of neon lights and assorted electronic sounds really made him nostalgic. It reminded him of the days when arcades were the only way to play videogames... no, they really don't, I'm not that old... He headed straight for the counter and bought a somewhat healthy amount of tokens, then looked around to see if there was a cabinet that particularly drew his attention... Off in the distance, he saw a person he'd met beforehand - in a video game store, nonetheless! Hideki appeared to be preparing to play House of the Dead 2 with a blonde girl he didn't know. He approached and intended to strike a conversation with him, when a boy clad entirely in black - a black hoodie, black jeans, black boots, black hair, black rings under his eyes... wow - came and stood behind Hideki, just watching him. Uh oh... With renewed conviction, he approached. Sure, he didn't look threatening at all - he was dressed with a dress shirt under a blue sweater, black dress pants and shoes - but if he needed to hold the guy off or something he was certain that he could. After all, he didn't look particularly strong... "Hey, Hideki-san!" Not trying to come off as too threatening, he approached. "Hello there, stranger!" He nodded at the blonde girl. "Do you two mind if I watch you play?" Sure, the proposal was strange, but it wasn't like he was harming anyone! God fucking dammit. Anyone but Trent, of course. His cover had been blown rather inceremoniously, and now both Hideki and the girl had found out that he was there. He might as well just go with it... "...uh, hello, Tachibana-san." The pale young man looked at the blonde girl and the large man standing next to him. "...good morning, you two." Hopefully nothing bad happened. Ryouta's eyes were on Trent, however. |

Hideki had no intention at the moment to explain his slip up, and at least he managed to convince Ayame to continue playing. He simply moved towards the machine, as he heard out what Ayame was saying. He didn't say much to contribute to her mini-rant, as he was simply trying to push some negative thoughts away. By the time they reached the game, he almost tripped. "Actually, we'll be able to make it out in one playthrough if we are skilled enough, so we must keep our eyes opened." He said, as he took a token from his pocket. However, as he was going to insert it in the slot, someone yelled his name, startling him and causing his token to drop, slowly rolling into the back or a nearby game. It's recovering becoming impossible. "Aw, damn." He thought, before he turned to see who called for him. Hideki was almost startled for a second time, seeing that the person that saluted him was none other than Ryouta, the man he saw in that one video game store one day. "Ah, hello Ryouta-san. Came here to enjoy some games?" He said, before he looked at a side to see who was Ryouta refering to with 'stranger'. Surprise, it was none other than Trent. "Oh, and hey there Trent-san, I assume you are here for the same, right?" |

As Ayame watch Hideki head toward's her he tripped and soon said that they need to be skilled enough to complete the game in one playthrough...Said the guy who almost tripped. "Yeah...Skilled." Ayame said as she watched Hideki about to put a token in the machine, when someone called out his name, causing the boy to lose his poor token. "Bad luck..." Berith said as Ayame sighed. "Oh no, you lost your token...But who called out your name?" Ayame said as she soon saw a figure walk toward's the two and greeted the two, Ayame decided to go with it even if the guy looked a bit weird. "Hello, friend of Hideki's." Ayame said as she bowed to the man and greeted him. "It's Fukui Ayame really...Sure you can watch us play." Ayame said as she turned toward's Hideki and see if he placed another token in the machine yet. "Ready...Again?" Ayame said curiously to Hideki as the trio were soon greeted by another man, this time, one that look's to be in his twenties and seems to know Hideki also. "Oh hello...Is this your father?" Ayame said looking toward's Trent since she noticed the man kept looking at him. "I find it odd a Father and Son would be in a place like this unless there both fan's of these sort of things...But they both look different..." |

"O-oh, did I make you lose that token, Hideki-san? Don't worry, I can... oh." Before Ryouta could even move to offer the orange-clad boy one of his tokens, Trent went ahead and inserted one of his own in the machine. "...huh." Although the pale young man seemed to know Hideki, he didn't appear to be on terms too friendly with him... or perhaps this was how he acted generally? "...Trent Proctor. Nice to meet you." He went back to his original position and put his hands in his pockets. "O-oh, right, I need to introduce myself. I'm Ryouta Murakami. Nice to meet you, Fukui-san!" The large man let out a smile as he greeted the blonde girl, and was promptly taken off guard by her question about the relation between him and Trent. "E-erm, no, I don't--" "I've never seen this man in my life." Before Ryouta could finish his explanation, Trent interrupted and stated a much more succint explanation. "...yeah, he's right, I've also never met Proctor-san before and I don't even have kids." Something clicked within Ryouta's mind as he contemplated the notion of Trent being his child. Hold on, he looks like he's at the very least 18, and--! "H-hey, just how old do you think I look, Fukui-san...?" "...your game. You two are playing that, aren't you?" It seemed to be that Trent thought the credit wouldn't last forever in the machine's programming without being consumed... |

To be honest, when Ayame suggested Ryouta and Trent being father and son, he couldn't help but giggle a bit. Yeah, the apple would have landed a bit too far away from the tree. Hideki looked up to see that Ryouta was apparently going to give him a token, but suddenly Trent already got him first. "Ah, thanks Trent-san." He said, before the exchange eventually turned up to Trent asking if they were going to play. "Oh? Oh yeah! I guess we better start the game before someone gets impatient." In an arcade like this, someone could get angry if people were hogging a machine and not using it. Taking the fake pistol from the side holste, he pointed at the screen, and pressed start. "You guys can see us play, it'll be fun!" He said, as he pressed the trigger to skip the cutscenes, placing Ayame and him into the game. |
