"W-waah!" Tomoyo yelped when she made the kick.

Fortunately, she kicked nothing but air. Tomoyo was surprised, but more relieved, if ever. She was a little impressed with his reflexes. She didn't know if it was the coffee or if it was because Trent was the demon love child of the Terminator and Usain Bolt. That said, Tomoyo smirked, shrugged her shoulders and rested back on the bar, purposely letting the arrows miss on her side of the screen.

"I'm going to sit this one out, Proctor-san. You go on at it!"

Tomoyo stretched her arms and then sat back to enjoy the show. Miharu and Ren returned with a long sash of tickets and a pair of sodas.

"For a moment, I thought you were going to chicken out," Ren told Miharu bluntly. "I mean, you went out and wasted all your machine gun ammo on the bugs."

Miharu shuddered. "I can tolerate spiders, scorpions, lizards, snakes and other creepy things, but please don't put me in a room full of multi-legged insects that remind me of centipedes."

"I bet we could've won if you hadn't wasted all your ammo on that room."

Miharu pouted. "O-oh! Like you were any help! You were using your pistol, Ren. Your PISTOL!"

Ren sipped her soda and moved over the the dance game. "Speaking of chicken...did Proctor-san beat you, Usagi-neechan?"

Tomoyo grinned. "I guess you could say something like that. He really knows how to get his groove on."

A bead of sweat trailed down Ren's temple. "No one uses the word 'groove' anymore..."

With that said, the song ended and the three would all have their eyes on Trent to see how he was doing.

It seemed to be that Tomoyo had backed down from the challenge, though this fact didn't fully register in Trent's mind until a few seconds after she'd stepped down from her side of the platform. This, however, didn't stop him from keeping his rhythm up. He didn't even say anything about it - it just meant he'd won, but he wasn't even thinking about that anymore.

"You empty your ammo on bosses. Kill them. With bullets. Many. Lots. No mercy." It appeared to be that bits of their conversation were reaching Trent's ears, however.

Not too long afterwards, the song ended. Without taking a moment to catch his breath, Trent slammed his fist against the same frontal button of the machine he'd used the past few times, causing it to go into random song selection again...

"Who's going against me. Someone must go against me. I need a rival. I need... rival." The effects of the caffeine seemed to have decreased in intensity, though not enough for Trent to stop just yet.

A bead of sweat trailed down Tomoyo's temple. She whispered to Miharu.

"We're part of First Aid, so if I knock him out, it would totally be okay you know and--"

"Tomoyo-chan!" Miharu scolded.

"What? I'm just saying," she frowned. "That said, I guess I should head up for the next song and--"

"I'll do it!" Ren said loudly.

The two girls looked down on the smaller one. She still had a blank face, but there was a glint of determination in her eyes.

"I know just what to do to cure this," she said.

"You do!?" the two asked.

Ren nodded.

Once Trent's song ended, Ren stepped up onto the platform and added in another token for the two of them.

"This time, I get to pick the song," Ren said. "But I get to pick your settings too!"

The screen would show the song list and Ren would browse until they reached EASY. She then adjusted the song to the slowest beats possible. The song was called Butterfly and while it was an upbeat song only around fourteen arrows showed up per minute. Ren's usually blank face grinned as the arrows laggingly tried to make it up the screen. She looked at Trent with a devious expression.

Something within Trent changed when he heard it was Ren that was going to compete against him. Not even normally he would have felt bad about defeating a small child in a videogame, but--wait, what's happening.

Ren knew her shit, it seemed, as she deliberately chose a painfully easy song for them to play. It was too late for Trent to say anything, however, as the song had already begun.

And it went. Sort of. The notes were so begrudgingly slow that there was nothing for Trent to do most of the time. As the song advanced and he more than effortlessly hit all notes, a low, frustrated growl began to emerge from the back of his throat... He seemed to be becoming more uneasy with each passing second.

"Mi-tan?"

"Hm?"

"Did I ever tell you your cousin is the devil?"

Ren was lazily tapping on the arrows with each turn, her hands were behind her back and she had the smuggest look on her face. The song only lasted a couple of minutes, but that said this was quite the agony.

"I like this song, Mister. Don't youuuuuu~?"

"I do not, demon child of the demonic devil."

Trent was becoming increasingly distressed at the song he was being presented with. What's more, with the extreme amount of effort he'd done in the previous songs, the effect of the caffeine appeared to be wearing off...

The song was coming to an end.

When the song ended, Ren jumped up happily as she got the S score.

"Another one! Another one!" Ren said.

"Ren! NO!" the two girls said as she was pulled back.

Tomoyo looked at Ren. "Do you want Proctor-san to lose his top?"

"It would be interesting to see."

Miharu sighed and moved up to Trent. She smiled.

"How was everything, Proctor-san?"

Slowly, Trent stepped down from the machine and stood next to the group. He looked sullen, somehow. Perhaps at a different time he'd had the necessary energy to reply to the proposal. However, the caffeine had worn off, and he wasn't feeling so hot anymore.

"...I'm tired." With that, he collapsed onto the ground, right in front of everyone. Should anyone bother to check they would notice that he hadn't harmed himself in any way and was, in fact, only sleeping. "...go away..." His voice came as muffled mumbling, his head turned sideways.

It had been interesting.

"O-oh, dear," Miharu said, surprised Trent's sudden tiredness.

Tomoyo yawned and slung Trent's arm over her shoulder.

"Okay, Trent-san, you look tired indeed. Why not let us bring you home? Do you live nearby?"

"Weak," Ren said bluntly.

Although he felt somewhat surprised that someone had managed to sling him over their shoulder, Trent didn't really feel like commenting on it. "Just... drop me by the entrance of the Apartment Complex and I'll... find my way..." The pale young man let out a yawn.

That had been entertaining, he had to admit.
