Tomoyo arched her eyebrow.

"Oh, you do, eh?" she said suddenly changing her cautious expression to a mischievous one.

Grinning, Tomoyo slammed her fist into the palm of her other hand.

"Okay, hoodie-man, why don't we go one-on-one?' she said.

Miharu, who had disappeared for the moment, came back with a bag of tokens.

"Here, I took care of this for you guys," she said smiling. "It's the least I can do. Anyways, I'm going to play with Ren for awhile. Will you be able to take care of Proctor-san while I'm gone?"

Tomoyo nodded affirmatively.

"Yep!" she said. "You have fun."

Tomoyo waved them off as Ren pulled Miharu away to play Time Crisis 4 with her. Meanwhile, Tomoyo slipped in a few tokens into the Dance, Dance Revolution Extreme.

"Pick your song, Proctor-san! I've played all of them and I can tell you that I've pretty much mastered the moves to this baby!"

The pale young man didn't even realize he was being challenged - the only thing in his mind was the machine in front of him. "Okay. I can play. It's fun. Games are fun."

Somehow, he managed to get on the game's platform without tripping and falling or, even worse, breaking something. A token had already been inserted and, before Tomoyo could even finish telling Trent to pick the song, he'd already slammed his fist into one of the buttons of the machine, causing it to choose a song at random. It seemed to be that a song called SuperNOVA - Xepher was what they were playing.

"It looks fun." Instinctively, he braced the support bar behind him and prepared to slam his feet onto the mat at breakneck speeds...

"Oooh~" she said upon seeing the song. "Nice choice, Hood Man. But just so you know, picking one of my favorite songs is just going to do you a lot of disadvantage."

Tomoyo stood on the second set of pads and slammed her finger onto the START button.

"LET'S DO THIS!" she shouted.

The song would start, but Tomoyo wouldn't even bother with the bars. Instead, she pointed at Trent in dramatic fashion and lifted her bunny mask up like a cap.

"I'm going to take you down, Proctor! Just you wait!"

As the song started, dozens of arrows came up on the screen. Tomoyo didn't waste her time, with her hands raised, she started tapping her feet like crazy, keeping in sync with the song as she did. She almost looked like she was doing some sort of fast-forward cha-cha.

"Let's go. It sounds fun. It looks hard. Hard is fun."

Despite what appearances might suggest, Trent was actually... staggeringly good at that sort of game. Somehow he managed to keep his eyes trained on his side of the screen as the notes came up to their corresponding arrows, managing to hit all of the notes to perfection without missing once... though, if one were to look at him carefully, one would notice his eyes weren't even focused on the screen. In fact, his gaze was completely lost somewhere in the distance - he wasn't even looking at the notes, yet somehow managed to keep track of everything that was happening onscreen. As that happened, his feet practically flew over his portion of the game area, tapping down on the corresponding notes at the correct time. Sometimes he was completely suspended in the air, his feet not even resting on the ground as he stretched his legs to hit the arrows on the floor. Either he had a lot of upper body strength to practically suspend himself in the air like that for so long or he was just that determined.

Either way, it was beyond uncanny.

The song was already drawing to a close and, somehow, Trent hadn't dropped a single note. What's more, it didn't look like he had been playing at all - he wasn't sweating or even gasping for air...

Tomoyo kept her eyes on the screen, but would glance every now and then at Trent who was somehow not only surviving the whole ordeal, but pretty much owning the game. Tomoyo herself didn't miss a single beat, her feet quickly switching places, pressing the arrows as needed. When the song was done, she grinned.

"Oh my gosh! You were awesome, Proctor-san!" she said. "How are you feeling after that groove?"

Tomoyo's words didn't even reach Trent's ears.

He was that far gone.

Upon completion of the songs and their scores being read out to them - a horribly close match, at the very least - Trent immediately smashed one of the frontal buttons of the machine, commanding it to choose a random song once more. Before anyone had any time to register the fact, Trent had put himself into position again, ready to tap his feet at nearly superhuman speeds once more.

It was evident that he didn't even feel spent - not one bit.

Maybe this was going to be a disaster.

"Oh, um, another one already?" Tomoyo said getting into stance. She glanced at the screen as PARANOiA Survivor MAX started and got to stepping.

While she could do this, she was still a little concerned about Trent. Not that she should have been. After all, it was natural for Death Wish coffee drinkers with little caffeine tolerance to get this hyped up.

If I whack him in the head he can at least sleep it off, she thought temptingly. She doubted Miharu would like it if she came back to find an unconscious Trent on the ground, probably still twitching from coffee like some weird alien that was half-alive.

Instead, Tomoyo just smiled at Trent and continued dancing.

I wonder if he's capable of dancing like this if he's off coffee.

Dang it. She was distracted. If something got her attention she'd probably miss a beat and screw everything up.

Little did Tomoyo know, Trent was in fact quite capable of dancing with this level of skill even when off of caffeine. Chances were that she'd never get to witness it firsthand, given the fact that under normal circumstances Trent wouldn't even go near a machine like this one...

"Ah... ah..." As much as he was still stepping on the notes onscreen with uncanny precision, something seemed to be happening.

Not a few seconds later, a rather loud sneeze rang through the air. It took Trent a few seconds to realize what had just happened - how he'd just sneezed while he was playing - but when he did he immediately went to check his pockets for napkins or something like that before realizing he didn't need them.

All the while, he'd continued playing, somehow not missing any notes. It was unnatural.

"Gaah!" Tomoyo yelped as Trent sneezed.

Now, by ordinary circumstances, Tomoyo would have just jumped back and raised her arms in defense, but being in the middle of a game that had required all her attention, she turned and tried to land a side kick at him.

Trent didn't even seem to perceive the kick coming, yet somehow managed to avoid it completely. When it came, his entire torso rose into the air and he lost contact with the floor for a few instants, only coming down once Tomoyo's leg was gone... and he continued playing as though nothing had happened. He appeared to be quite skilled and have some good reflexes.

That, or he was just possessed. Could be either of the two options.

The song was drawing to a close, and yet Trent had somehow managed not to miss any note. Chances were that he was going to crash hard once they were done, but there was still a possibility of him having it in himself to keep going.
