It wasn't as though Hanako wasn't sympathetic to Alan or his plight. But she also had her own obligations to take care of, and that didn't leave a lot of room for stopping! And besides, for all her chiding on Suzu, it didn't occur to her to try and talk to the manager on Alan's behalf first.

But eventually, she was called back to the office, she reported right away, grasping her serving tray flat in front of her as she peered up curiously. "Yes! Here!"

The office always looked like a cliche out of some gangster movie. But the fact that they were called there and Alan and their manager were already there was either very good, or very bad! She couldn't simply tell which one.

Waving some of the smoke out of her face with her hand and standing aside from the entrance to let Suzu get in as well, she asked. "So…what's this about?"

"Eh, I was wonderin' if he had ran again or somethin'." Suzu commented without batting an eye once inside the office, apparently not at all concerned with the situation. In fact, she was counting on it. They had a better chance of getting Alan back if it was a three on one situation, as opposed to the boy just begging for his job back.

And they call US jerks... Tch.

"'Sup, boss man, is this 'bout the stage thing?" She went straight for the kill, no point beating around the bush. She was to blame anyway, but knew the repercussions - if any - couldn't be that heavy: she was his star, after all. Clientele had taken a liking to her talent, and he knew it.

"Please, sit." He gestured to two chairs near Alan. The man sat in silence for a few moments, taking another puff of a cigar. Alan, was truly unsure if the guy was just putting on a show or not. Sure he'd been a grumpy and secretive sort, but still. "As you two may know. Alan here, is hoping for his job back." The man's dark eyes fell on Suzu for a few moments as she spoke.

"Yes and no." Another puff of smoke. "I respect your decision to help out a friend. Was rather brave, that's always been like you." A deep throaty chuckle came from the large man. "I've called you two here for two reasons." The man sighed.

"I will be happy to give Alan his job back on two conditions." Alan stiffed slightly at the thought. Just what was he going to have to do?

I bet there's a body out back you gotta hide.

"I need your recommendations. You two have worked with him before, would you be willing to work with him again despite the fact that he basically left without a word?" His eyes flashed angrily towards Alan, who simply did his best to stare straight back at the man. "Suzu, you don't have to worry about him taking your job. You have a certain...charm about you that keeps customers coming. He'd be working mainly as a waiter." The man nodded to himself. Not often was a male waiter even seen around here.

"And second. Clearly such an act should be punished." Another few seconds passed by as Alan somehow grew more pale. "You two may decide. Can be a simple as a prank. Or having him take shifts you don't want. I would myself, but ah." The man trailed off for a few more seconds. "Anyway, that will be all. What say you?"

I bet Suzu'll make you wear a dress. I bet it'll still look good!

As requested, Hanako had a seat, the further of the two from the door and allowing Suzu to take the other one. She listened intently as the manager spoke. Not only was he upset for losing a worker with no prior warning, but also considerate to the other employees too. She'd already been fine with Alan coming and going without a word.

"Oh, of course!" She chimed up in response to the question. "I trust Casey-san, if he had to go, I'm sure he had good reasons. There shouldn't be any problems working with him again on my end!"

Though, anything? Hmmm. That was a tough one. "Well…Alan, you did miss my birthday. Perhaps you can just get me a cake and that'd be fine? A nice cake. A carrot cake sounds good…" Yes, she'd definitely made her choice. She turned to the girl besides her and offered. "Suzu-chan, would you like some too?"

"I do want him t'take my job. Every now 'n then that is." Suzu quickly interjected, a devious plan forming in her mind. "Ya see, doin' the work o' two people while unable t'play the piano kinda killed my throat 'n all. I think I've earned myself some rest." Of course, Alan would be the one to provide it. She couldn't believe such a thing fell onto her lap, and she wasn't going to waste it!

"Sorry if ya lose some 'o yer clientele while goin' for this, old man. But I think ya can attract some costumers like I do if he wears a wig or somethin'." Oh yes, she had seen the picture from back in the day. It was one of the most hilarious things she's ever seen, and she'd be damned if she didn't see it again.

Alan's eyes practically shot out of their head as Hanako spoke. He'd seriously missed her birthday!? He hadn't even texted her or anything geez!

Carrot cake sounds good. Well any cake sounds good! You should make her a second one as an apology.
That's...actually a good idea.

"I'll be sure to Hanako-chan, thank you." He bowed slightly, not being able to suppress a smile. Of course she would've vouched for him. Honestly he was glad the manager had asked her. Now then came Suzu. He was a little worried about what she had in mind, but then again she had stuck her neck out for him. It won't that THA-

PFFFFFFF.

A deep laugh came from the man at Suzu's suggestion. Alan on the other hand, buried his face deep into his hands."That's a wonderful idea! Feel free to pick a good one out." The man shook his head and leaned back into his chair. "Well Alan, it seems like you've earned their forgiveness and your job. Congratulations."

"Ah, t..thank you very much!" He gave a deep bow towards the man, who simply waved him off. "My apologies for dragging you two in here. If you'd like you can leave early for the inconvenience. Alan, come in tomorrow for the evening shift." He nodded at them before turning back in his chair. "That will be all, thank you for your time."

Which was naturally a polite way of saying 'leave.'

Alan couldn't get out of there fast enough. He was feeling so many things at once, he wasn't sure what to hold onto first. Ah, hell he'd go for joy. "You guys are lifesavers! Thank you so much!" He felt like hugging them both, but to be honest Suzu kind of frightened him.

Remember when it was HANAKO who scared you? But honestly who would've thought such a ball of crazy could turn into such a ball of ADORABLE~

Hanako smiled. She wasn't trying to be especially nice, or magnanimous or anything. It was simple, wasn't it? She didn't mind if he had to go, so long as he came back. Everything was going to be just fine!

"Oh, don't worry about it. I'm looking forward to working with you again!"

The words were cheerful and care-free. Suzu's demands were only half-unreasonable. Being someone who was there for that infamous night, at the suggestion that Alan wear a wig, she gave Suzu an obvious double-take.

But it was probably what she said next that was potentially disasterious. "W-well, wouldn't that be awkward? A male uniform with a wig like that?" She wasn't trying to do it, she really wasn't.

Hanako just had no idea of the waters she was steering their little ship into. Here there be otokonoko.

"How 'bout a blue long hair wig? Almost as if he's pullin' an awful cosplay. That'd attract some fellas." Suzu suggested in response to Hanako. "Maybe add a skirt to it, I mean, why not? The waitress uniform'd be perfect for that instead."

She didn't seem to be minimally kidding. She was going to milk that revenge cow dry. "If ya were t'sing some idol or vocaloid song, that'd be icin' on t'cake. I offer t'make a piano cover t'tag along." Perfect! They'd have their hands full for the rest of the week with that sort of publicity!

Someone better pick up that phone.
Wha-
BECAUSE. I. FUCKING. CALLED IT!

Alan buried his face deep into his hands as his boss began to laugh harder than he'd ever heard him laugh. He turned once more in his chair, his smile visible even in the dark. "That is a fantastic idea!" Alan could feel his own happiness being dashed hard against a rock. Whisp's own laughter at this point was drowning out any rational thought he might have been trying to have.

"Well have your uniform for you tomorrow, Alan."

"Okay, thank you sir." Alan managed to somehow find the strength to speak despite his horrid embarrassment. He knew that the events of tomorrow would be with him (and probably the internet) forever.

...He'd just have to kill it then.

"I think I'll head out now." He spoke with rather shaky determination. His boss simply waved him off, still chuckling to himself. Oh, he needed to have a word with Suzu after this.

Maybe Hanako can help with the make up!

"Well, he can just borrow one of my uniforms. We're apparently the same size."

Hanako murmured it matter-of-factly. She was helping! In a way! The sooner they got it done, the better. Plus it'd spare the trouble and expense of having to get a new one when he could have just wore one of her spares.

"No idea about the wig, though… Otherwise we could have done that right away."
It was going to be…a thing! It really was. But as long as Alan was having a bit of fun too, that was fine. Even if it technically was supposed to be a punishment for up and ditching them.

Maybe she should have asked for more than a cake? …like two cakes! From an expensive shop. Drat, she really should have thought of that a few minutes before.
