Hideki couldn't help but smile a bit when Atsuko chuckled, thankfully she didn't seem as nervous as before. However, he noticed how Akeno handed her a sketchbook, and how Atsuko was impressed with them. Inching a bit closer so that he can take a peek at them, he saw the many drawings she made.

"Wow, they are pretty good! Hey, maybe she can give you some tips, Atsuko-san!" Hideki suggested, wondering how long it took Akeno to reach this level, definitely quite some years.

Akeno smiled to herself at the compliment. Indeed, she was a hell of an artist, but given that she was stuck in a class with a myriad of people just like her, compliments weren't something she got often. If anything, people were extremely competitive over getting noticed - not that she actually minded, she was just like them.

"Thanks. Yeah, or at least trying to be. Y'know how that goes." If she had to describe it, very 'shoot and miss'. "Don't criticize your stuff or anything based on others, if you find it superior for any reason, try to learn the little tricks instead? There's always room for improvement."

Teaching art... Now that vacations were around the corner, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea after all.

Atsuko nodded. "I think my main problem is that I'm too critical of my artwork. It doesn't help that I'm pretty modest about it!" She chuckled sheepishly. At least she was aware of her problem. The was good, right? She handed Akeno her sketchbook back. "Thank you for showing me... Uh... Whoever you are!"

"This is going to sound weird... But, could you... Critique my work..." Atsuko said, a blush forming on her face. "I mean, of it isn't too much work..." She awkwardly slid the sketchbook towards Akeno. If she were to look, she would see sketches of various different things. From trees to lightposts. To cars and buildings. It was a strange group of drawings.

"She has a point, it is better if you try to compare your works on others to see what things you can learn." Hideki said. He wasn't much of an artist, or at least when it came to drawings, the least he could do would be encouraging Atsuko.

Once she handed the sketchbook to Akeno, Hideki looked at her and asked "What do you think of her work?" After seeing the things she drew, he wondered what would be her judgement. Hopefully not so harsh.

"Everybody does that, me included, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite." She chuckled, and shook her head. "It's detrimental though. The only key to it is practice as I'm sure you know. Don't put yourself down, I'm sure you're leagues ahead of a lot of people anyway."

What came next stung a little. Who was she?

Well, it's not like everyone's obligated to read your manga. And it only comes out once every couple months anyway.

Yeah, to be fair she was just getting started, so she let that slip by. "Akeno Yamamoto, at your service." She introduced herself with a small smile on her face. She placed the sketchbook back in her bag once receiving it, and looked quite surprised over the request.

"An actual critique? Wow, uh..." It felt kinda iffy to do it in the middle of lunch, but what choice did she have? She didn't want to turn a fellow artist down. "Sure, why not. Let's see..."

She picked up the book carefully, as if it was the most fragile thing in the universe, and started going through it page by page, focused completely on the several drawings and their little details in hopes of forming an opinion quick enough to answer in such short notice. No pressure!

"Akeno Yamamoto... That name sounds familiar..." Atsuko muttered. She heard the name before, and she was pretty sure it was the name of a mangaka. Though, she always thought they were a man. But, it seemed Akeno was a woman. "Well, thank you, Yamamoto-san! I really appreciate it!" She cheered. If the girl was nice enough to do a critique when she was eating, then she must be dedicated! Right?

The young girl waited patiently, but her heart was racing. It was a little scary when people looked at her artwork. "This is probably the most stressful part of being an artist. When people look at your work and determine if it's good enough!" She chuckled sheepishly. Atsuko thought of the painting Dr. Hamano hung on the wall at the hospital. It made her feel anxious that so many people had seen her drawings, judging it.

To be honest, Hideki hasn't really seen Atsuko as much of an artist, so as Akeno was reviewing her work, he asked Atsuko "Actually, you draw for fun? Or do you seek to become an artist like Akeno-sama?"

Hopefully Akeno wouldn't be hard on her work, after all, seeing how Atsuko was shy about it, maybe it meant a lot to her, and negative criticism is capable of breaking one's will. But she wouldn't be harsh about it, right?

Akeno was doomed to stay forever depressed about not being known, as she had not heard the muttered remark from Atsuko. She felt a bit worse with the suffix usage, as it was a pet peeve, and ended up shaking her head, waving a hand at both.

"Just Akeno is fine." Hopefully that'd handle that small nuisance. "And no problem, gotta be helpful to the fellow artist and all." With that, she became engrossed in the sketchbook, hoping to be able to give Atsuko some constructive criticism with it.

"Let's see..." She slowly went through each page, observing every single detail while at it. Eventually, she had seen enough to have a well formed opinion. "Well... You have a whole lotta talent and skill, that's for sure. Enough to actually follow up on this in college." She let the positive part sink in for a few seconds before she continued. "You could try focusing on the shading for a while though, it needs improvement. Also be disciplined in the sense to always finish your things. You can learn something new from every drawing, and leaving them undone's not very kind to that."

With that, she handed the book back.

Atsuko blushed. "Y-Yeah... I kinda end up hating my drawings and how they look half way through, and don't finish them..." She chuckled sheepishly. The young girl then grinned widely. "Thanks for all your help, Akeno and Hideki-kun! I'll use this information and critiques to better myself and my artwork!" She cheered loudly. Some people glanced at her, but didn't think much of it.

Atsuko thought for a wat to pay back these two. Then it hit her. A smirk formed on her face. "As a reward..." She muttered. "I'll be paying for your food!" She said. She winked st her dad who chuckled and went into the kitchen.

"Oh woah, thanks!" Hideki was surprised by Atsuko's deal. He was a bit hungry, not to mention that he didn't have a lot of money in his pocket, so he wasn't going to turn out free food.

"Anyhow, I have been wondering, Akeno-san I didn't realize you had talent for drawing, how long have you been working?" He asked. It was probably his mind scrambling, but he didn't recall her mentioning her skills during this morning's venture, it made him ponder since when she worked on mangas.

After all, he wasn't an avid reader at all.
