Today was not doing so great for him. Well, it was okay when he got up. He had some leftovers, got a shower, thought really hard about going to school and for some reason? That really lifted his spirits. Then he got to the office. Y'know. The old abandoned warehouse, safe diff. And what does he learn? Why, things are in disarray. Seems there was a little territorial dispute with the rival You know how it is, small business owner vs big box competitor. You gotta be niche to stay afloat. Just because they were street gangs didn't change that. In their case? It was simple, unlike the Army of the Dead, they kept to a territory that was their own, good and familiar to the people who felt a little uncomfortable following a woman from Osaka brandishing a Katana. He was just a nice, simple boy from But then one day you show up and your told that your competitor's moved in on a bar clearly in your territory. In this case? They've encroached upon their protection providing service. The owner of this little bar didn't like their deal, some granny had the gall to send his people away, saying Samurai-girl's people offered protection from them for less! Well of course they could charge less. They're a major franchise who can afford the hit until they've driven out the completion! Then the price goes up! Why does no one ever think of that? --- Well, it wasn't really a problem after that. He threw the old bag and her three daughters out, and one match later? The whole place was up like kindling. Places where they stored a lot of alcohol were easy like that. The short, stocky young man looked up at the towering blaze and just kind of tuned out all the wailing from the owner and her daughters. Blah, blah, lives work, blah, blah, ruined, something, something about a pet. "So, boss what now?" He loved it when people asked him what to do, one of the perks of running of running an operation. Not so much bossing people around as just knowing people actually listen, y'know? "Well…" With a long dramatic sigh. Like he was really having to struggle with this, but he'd already decided on it. "It looks like what we have is a little territorial dispute. I guess when everyone else was jumping on that bandwagon no one really took us too seriously." They stay on their little side of the border, and Nana's on theirs and everyone's all neighborly! They really should have turned granny down on her offer. That was not neighborly. "So, what I want you to do, is just roll up into one of the Dead Neighborhoods, find some good and conspicuous business in those given neighborhoods? Do the same here. Let's say…three times?" He held up three fingers. "yeah, let them know who did it, let them know why, and we'll just play it from ear after that?" "Cool." "Alright then, let's see what else is up today? Burnin' daylight and all…" Okay, so he was feeling a bit better after he'd gotten that little unpleasantness out the way… A bit after about a dozen or so youths walked past? Benkei went on his own merry way that day to his favorite watering hole - Nope! It wasn't on fire, even, but he did pass by the smoldering ashes of someone's life. Over and done? What was he supposed to do but pass on by? |
