Waking up is rarely an enjoyable experience. Waking up on the cold, hard surface of a concrete floor is never an enjoyable experience. Head pounding, Ryu pulled himself up, looking around in muddled confusion. The ruined electronics around him were coated in dust, and the tables were starting to rot. The place appeared to be a labratory. At least, that's what it was at one point. Now, it was merely... silent. After shifting the surrounding rubble a bit, wincing at every clatter of stone, the albino boy deduced that the room was void of anything interesting. His coat was still with him, and had been folded beneath his head as a pillow, of sorts. Picking it up resulted in a small shower of concrete dust. As Ryu shrugged the long black duster on, he felt the weight of his knife in the back. Good to know that nobody had found the blade. Although, he didn't recall anyone... Just some... glowing... butterfly? The thought faded as it came, swallowed up by the silence. It really was eerie how quiet it was... Like he was totally alone. Having been a nocturnal person for most of his life, the night had held little terror for the albino shut-in. But now, his first steps outside the trashed room sounded like gunshots, the utter silence worrying him. Wasn't anyone else here? It didn't sound like it, just him... and the shadows. For some reason, that last thought wasn't as soothing as it was intended to be. Drawing his knife from it's sheathe, Ryu crept slowly forward, into the gloom. Edited by Tokoz, Feb 18 2014, 10:31 PM.

Rinji awoke to an unfamiliar ceiling, a back covered in dust, and no clue at all what he'd been doing beforehand. As he sat up, Rinji noticed that he was in some kind of laboratory. At least, a lab room. Maybe he was in some abandoned part of the school he'd never visited? ...Unlikely. With a grunt, he pushed himself up to his feet, almost bumping into a table with dusty, cracked glass phials and assorted lab equipment. It was then that Rinji noticed it, and his heart skipped a beat. Lying on the floor, next to his dusty outline, it both comforted him and terrified him. Rinji sighed,as he reached reached down to pick up his bo staff. It wasn't that he was upset that it had been lying on the ground. It was that it should be in his room, safely tucked away in a box, and its presence meant that this wasn't some bizarre dream, and that he probably wasn't in the school. With staff in his left hand, Rinji pushed open a slightly ajar door and stepped out into a hallway. Concentrating, he thought he heard footsteps. Deciding any company was good company at the moment, he set out in search of the sound. Edited by Maxdc2, Feb 18 2014, 07:47 PM.

Ohhh....my head. What happened? Did I fall asleep...? For some reason her arms felt a bit sore...what in the world was she doing? Inori opened her eyes and looked around, she was in an unfamiliar room and a small one at that, more like a closet really. She looked around for something which might give her an idea of where she was, the whole room was creepy like someone had stuffed her into a haunted house or something. Brooms and beakers lined the shelves of the small closet, maybe it was the school? She didn't recall traveling to the school though... Then she noticed something. Her chair was gone. She immediately began to feel herself panicking, she started taking deep breaths to calm herself and before she knew it she started talking to herself in a reassuring tone. "I'm sure everything is fine, I'm probably in the school and someone decided to play a dumb practical joke or something, somebody really cruel. I'll be fine, I just need to call for help." After she calmed herself a bit she gathered the courage and called out. "Hello? Is anyone out there? This isn't funny, please bring my chair back!" She jumped as she heard something shuffling around outside the room, maybe yelling wasn't the best idea here... Edited by Light, Feb 18 2014, 07:44 PM.

After the clusterfuck that Suzu's and Toki's training exercise became, the pair decided to get stronger on their own so to compensate for their own, as well as teammates', faults. It was a good thing that both already belonged to the same Persona group, and had a conveniently matching schedule. That day was the first of potentially many on their own. Even though they were two, they were quite the powerhouse team with decent coverage - three elemental abilities, poisoning, healing and scanning, along with melee training, with and without all sorts of weaponry. Toki had decided to bring his pair of sai that day, and they tore through many Mayas with ease. Suzu actually stayed back for a change, though her spiky club was thirsting over the sweet black ichor, wanting to bathe in it. As they walked, Suzu reached for Toki's wrist, and stopped her movement, something extremely odd being picked up by Undine's radar. The tall college student got the hint and stopped as well, looking at her questioningly. "One... Two... Three? What in the name of fuck?" Suzu seemed rather stupefied at whatever it was she noticed. Toki scratched the back of his head, eager to know, but knowing better than to ask as the redhead needed to concentrate. "Okay so... There are three god damn unawakened people in this fuckin' place..." She raised 3 fingers, in confirmation. Toki's eyes widened slightly - he never rescued a single person before, let alone three. "One ain't movin'. Two are wanderin' around." "So... Maybe we should split up?" "...Are ya fuckin' outta yer mind? Ya wanna get yerself killed or somethin'?!" Sitting duck or wandering fools, which will you rescue~ Suzu sighed to herself. Of course they had to split up; as if they had a choice. Making a rather quick and perhaps dumb battle plan in her mind - it wasn't like she had much expertise in strategy anyway - the pair dashed towards the 'sitting duck', as Undine had dubbed the person. "You, go rescue that one and get 'em out! Don't worry 'bout me, I know my way around." Suzu pointed towards a room they were nearing. Toki nodded to the Taiyoutono student - she could just find her way back to them anyway. The Yakuza-looking man dashed towards the room, but eventually halted his pace to a slow jog, so not to burst into the room and scare the person. He opened the door very slowly after hooking the sais to his belt by the hilt, raising his hands in a sign of peacefulness. "Ya alright? I'm here t'help!" In the meantime, Suzu dashed towards the location of the nearest person, whom happened to be Ryu. "OI! Stop movin'! It's dangerous out here!" Hopefully, she'd get to the person before a Shadow got to them. Though chances were they'd be freaked out by the massive club of death and destruction she carried. |

The corridors shared the silence that had made the room so unnerving. The click of his boots against the floor kept him from going mad, but it was starting to get to Ryu. Creeping down another hallway, his knife held low and close to his side, he peered around the corner. Another empty hallway greeted him, and with a sigh, he began down that as well, turning right into the shadowed depths. As he began to walk, the end of the hallway didn't seem to be clearing up. Looking back the way he had come, Ryu suddenly saw a girl dashing towards him. She appeared to be yelling, but with a sinking heart, the albino realized he couldn't hear her. He hadn't been hearing anything but the sounds he had made, all this time. With that revelation, it spoke. behind you It wasn't hearing, exactly. It was like someone had spoken, or written the words, and then you looked away. The memory was glaringly fresh, and your mind focused on it, but the phrase itself was gone. However, it proved to be good advice. From the darkened hallway formed a bizarre, twisted shape, the metal gears clanking, and it's Rusted Gun held in it's cold metal grasp. The Clockwork Soldier stared down at Ryu, and raised the weapon. Edited by Tokoz, Feb 21 2014, 01:22 PM.

Stifling a sneeze after walking through a large cobweb, Rinji rubbed his face vigorously with a sleeve before continuing into another derelict room. He'd lost the sound of footsteps awhile back and was having trouble getting his bearings. Each hall he went down looked the same. Pushing open the door, he froze. There was...something on the table in the center of the room. Even as Rinji watched in quiet horror, the sheet seemed to inflate, and in some small part of his mind that wasn't quite as mystified, he identified the thing holding the sheet up to be a balloon, from the holes he could see through in the cloth. When the gloves lying next to it also inflated and the entire...thing began to drift toward him, Rinji moved to run the way he had come. Which was when he saw two others coming down the hallway. With an undignified yell, Rinji tore off in the opposite direction, unknowingly headed toward the location of a familiar cripple and the intimidating man moving to rescue her. Rinji Akamori, bo staff still clutched in his hands, had just been scared off by three Inflatable Spooks. |

The door started opening slowly, and a man's voice rang out. Not one of cruel mockery, but perhaps...actual concern? As the door opened she fished around for anything she might use as a weapon, just in case. Her second scan through the room confirmed one thing, there was absolutely nothing worthwhile in this damn closet. She was scared, even more than usual. Without her chair she was completely useless, but what could she really do in this situation? She dragged herself over to the wall as the door moved, shrinking against it as best she could. When it was open she gave as fierce a look as one who is cowering against a wall can give to the man, his arms were raised which implied he wasn't here to do any harm, but his appearance definitely told a different story. "Please don't hurt me!" she whimpered pathetically. How could she be so pathetic? It was sickening. This wasn't the time for those thoughts however... Whoever this person was, she was completely at their mercy. Edited by Light, Feb 20 2014, 11:21 PM.

"Stay behind me!" Suzu hadn't realized Ryu wasn't hearing anything, and so she shouted after breaking into a sprint, once the Shadow entered her mental radar. She was surprisingly fast for a girl her age despite the heavy club, and such was credited to the hell she constantly went through in Track. After a quick scan as she ran, a rather cocky smirk played out in her lips. The creature so happened to be weak to the two elements she used. Firstly, she infused the metallic weapon with a powerful Zio. Electricity crackled around it quite intimidatingly, but it was strictly for a self defense purpose. Once reaching Ryu, she stepped to his side, palmed his arm with her momentum, and attempted to push him to the side strongly enough so that the Shadow's weapon would miss. At the same time, being quite prone to multitasking, the redhead summoned what seemed to be pure liquid to her face - the mask was even dripping. "C'mon, Undine! Let's kick some ass!" The water spirit materialized behind her, and launched a potent Aqua at point blank. It was the Shadow's weakness after all, it was bound to give them the upper hand and some breathing room. Not soon after, she could feel Rinji race away with her scanning power, but, fortunately, it was in Toki's direction. "Eh, he can handle it..." --- Once seeing the girl dragging herself, Toki's mind make quick work of the situation. Was she injured or physically impaired? Either way, he would have to carry her out, wouldn't he? That would do wonders should they have to face something. "I'm not here t'hurt ya!" He finally let his foot push the door open the rest of the way, and took a careful step inside. Despite his rough exterior, Toki's expression was a picture perfect portrayal of distress. "Look, this'll sound like a lotta bullshit, but I need ya t'keep your mind open about things, okay?" How the hell would he introduce magic and things that would kill you to a little girl cowering in a corner, almost? "I'm here t'help, 'kay? We're in an underground facility, and I need t'get ya out, or else we'll die. Do ya understand?" Slowly, he lowered his right arm, and retrieved one of the Sai hanging on his dan belt. He then crouched, put the metal knife on the floor, and sent it towards Inori in a sliding fashion, harmlessly. "There. If ya ever doubt me, y'can stab me to death with that crap." Would that be enough? Before Toki could give much thought to it, a scream filled his ears, and he glanced reflexively towards the door. Soon enough, frantic footsteps followed the not so pleasing sound, which was bound to attract enemies; and they were getting louder by the second. "Shit!" The boy jogged to the entrance of the room and peeked out, trying to spot who was presumably one of the three they had to rescue. "Oi! Don't run 'n scream like that! Come here instead!" |

Pushed roughly to the side, the bullet sped past the albino's head, vanishing into the darkness. Had that girl... just electrified that giant club? Blinking, unable to speak, Ryu's brain was desperately trying to justify the fact that he had, apparently, been thrust into some sort of video game-like world where teenagers had superpowers. Wait... Did that... put on the mask. all will be clear later. The echo in his head spoke again, this time more forcefully. From his sleeve, black roots crept forth, twisting around an invisible shape in the air. In a moment, the space was filled, and the roots retreated back into the shadows. The mask was featureless, and bore an odd pattern on it's white surface. Flipping it over, Ryu placed it open his face, and suddenly, the air was filled with noise once more. The girl who had saved him had just yelled something about "Undine". That was probably the spirit that was now launching a volley of liquid at the clockwork gunman. Looking back and forth, he groaned. Really? He had to be snarky right now? i agree. it is not the time. we must be on the offensive as well. At his side, a shape seemed to come into focus. Tall, with it's body hidden by robes, only the massive wooden arms and face were visible. The visage under the hood was void of any features, save a massive, glowing set of deep purple eyes. As it stared at him, questioningly, a word brought itself to the tip of his tongue. "ZIO!" As the command left his mouth, the shape.. his Persona, raised it's arm, and from it flew a bolt of energy, crackling through the air, to slam directly into the metal soldier, soaked from the Aqua moments before. The air in the opposite end of the hallway seemed to blow apart, as the wet metal conducted the lightning to a horrifying degree. Beneath his mask, Ryu's mouth twisted into a satisfied grin. Perhaps this was going to be interesting, after all. |

Continuing to race down the hallway, Rinji glanced behind him to see the Spooks still on his tail, and barely had time to register Toki's warning (and face) poking out from the door. Skidding to a stop just in front of the door, he instinctively looked behind the man. And his heart stopped. Inori was here?! Where...where was her chair?! Did this man take it from her? No, there was a weapon next to her, and it looked like it was part of a set. He'd probably given it to her. Boy... The unusual voice echoed in his mind. He cast his head about, trying to find the source. But no matter where he looked, all he saw was Inori. Helpless on the floor. Do you want to protect her, boy? I...of course I do! It's my duty as a martial artist, as a human being, to protect those who cannot protect themselves! His vision shifted to the hallway he had just come down. The Spooks were approaching. He thought he heard a scoff, as if regarding a lesser being. But how? How do I fight these things? I don't understand! How can I protect anyone?! Put the mask on, and all will be made clear. You know who I am, don't you? Rinji's mind conjured up an image, reminiscent of his childhood. He was on his knees before a grand statue, towering over the other spirit icons in the temple. It was then that he noticed the mask in his hands. Granite perfectly and unbelievably meshed with blood red wood. The long grass skullcap bristled against his arm, and he gently eased it over his head. He could see the creatures...Shadows...approaching him. Even as he clutched his staff with renewed vigor, he saw another shape begin to form. It was identical to the statue he'd seen so often, but alive. Brandishing a spear/sceptre of gold, chains criss-crossing its body, cloth fluttering about it in the wind, and crown gleaming. It was then that Rinji shouted a name. A name, a prayer, and a word he did not understand. But right now, that wasn't important. What was important, was protecting someone with all his soul. "Zaou-Gongen, god of the mountains! Crush my enemies beneath your might! MAGNA!" The god raised a hand, and a large rock flew from the ether, slamming against the lead Spook. With a pitiful pop, the sheet fell to the ground, gloves settling on top of it. Rinji's eyes went wide. Just what was this power he possessed? |
