"Goda-san…" She was a bit surprised to hear him say all that. Mostly because they never spoke before, but especially because he didn't seem like the type of guy who had deep thoughts about friendship and what it meant.

She felt a little better about it. It wasn't as though one little grade ranking ruined everything for Machi, was it? The knot in her stomach let go at once. With a slow nod, she agreed. "Yeah…yeah, I'd like to go see her!" She followed behind him, towards the Tea Ceremony Club's room. She knew the way well. "You should speak up more! You have really insightful things to say!"

And then they made it to the club room. She was right behind him and waved. "Hey. You okay, Machi-chan? I mean, I know there's a lot to stress you out lately. I don't want to add to that…"

Goda stepped out of the way of Hanako, and sighed.

"It's not me anybody needs to apologize to, Machi-chan." Goda said lightly, softly. It was a tonethat was surprisingly full of care. "No hard feelings, believe me.

"I uh, brought Hanako-san in here with me." He looked at the two of them expectantly. "I think you two got some talking to do. But if I may?"

Directness was something everyone needed here.

He hoped.

He sat down on the floor. "You two... for two people who care so much, I wouldn't think you guys would need me to tell you you need to talk it out."

He laughed in the typically Japanese way someone does when they say something that required a lot of effort to put together. Then, with a deep breath, he regained his composure.

"I don't know the whole story, but what you did for Hanako-san is... well, it's beyond nice. It's moved far past nice into something saints do. There's no way anyone would expect for you to take up a comatose student's coursework, there's no gain for you in it, at all."

He waved his hand, obviously encompassing the grade sheets. "Heck, it even cost you something you obviously cared about. You wouldn't have given that up if there wasn't something that mattered more."

In an obvious and total breach of tea room protocol, Goda laid back on the floor, putting his hands behind his head and spreading his legs out. "Least that's how I see it."

Machi saw Hanako's adorable head peeking past Goichi's shoulder and her smile turned genuine. The girl then shook her head. "I'm okay, Hana-chan. My apologies for the rather subpar congratulations, would you allow me to make up for it by brewing some tea?"

They were in the respective room after all, might as well take advantage.

The blonde was about to step out of the way to let both in - Goda had been dragged into this, hadn't he? - before said boy decided to impart his line of thought. His choice of words, however, sent her Shadow into a laughing fit.

Hah, SAINT! Oh my god, this is priceless! Saint of what, unhealthy attachments and obsession? Please.

"While I appreciate it, I believe it's somewhat exaggerated." Machi decided to speak up while the laughter blasted through her brain, trying her best to ignore it. "And, I'm afraid you're mistaken. There's no such thing as a selfless act, Hana-chan's well being is my own gain."

Yep, so long as people depend on you, need you, it should be fine, right? Maybe you should buy them some super glue, so they'll never ever go away!

For a moment, she had to close her eyes, as the Shadow's assault was particularly strong - it shielded a flicker of yellow from view.

"Yeah! Tea sounds lovely right now!" She wasn't really attached to the stuff before, but once she started associating the brewed beverage with Machi? There were so many fond memories attached to it that just the scent of it was enough to put a smile on her face!

"Come on in, Goda-san, we can all have some, right?" She knelt down at her usual place. She wasn't typically a big stickler for protocol, and he was new, so she wasn't going to complain about it.

"Just one quiz's outcome is not going to determine your whole life!"
That was to reassure Machi, as well as make sure she kept things in perspective. It was great that she did great. But there was a lot of help involved, and unless she managed to keep doing so-on her own power. It wouldn't have amounted for much, would it?

Something to think about while she enjoyed the tea when served. That and…wonder if Goda had a crush on Machi?
