Best Influence.

Naoya walked with a bounce in his step, seeming much happier than someone who had just had a noose around his neck and then exploded should. Then again, he did have at least one big reason to be glad: he was alive, and for once he wanted to be. It was a heady feeling, the way that it felt to take a deep gulp of air after suffocating. He ran through what they needed to do on the mountain: he would have to come back and collect the scarecrow tokens that he'd used to baffle scanners. The chaff. Whatever it was called. That could happen later. In the meantime, he just needed to put the oil back in the bike and Kyo would be set to go, and then everyone in the van could yell at him for being an idiot. For his part, Shin stayed near the back of the group. He ignored Chika attempting to get Hanako's attention. He just wanted this done with. |

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

Kyo flinched when Hanako ran at Daichi, and then relaxed, staring awkwardly as she bawled into his chest. "Oh, Hanako..." she murmured. Chika rubbed at her arm and focused her eyes downward, not saying anything. If the two could read each others' minds, they would be surprised to know they were both feeling the same thing: Awkwardness and a little shame at the knowledge that neither of them had noticed how much things were getting to Hanako. Neither of them moved to do anything about this, figuring the last thing Hanako's pride needed was a bunch of people swooping in to coddle her. Kyo made a mental note to invite Hanako out for a good, hot meal at a nice restaurant one of these days, and Chika... just sort of went even quieter than she already was, not really sure what to do or say. And so they simply walked on. There was nothing left but to leave and to feel uncomfortable about everything. Chika chanced a glance Naoya's way when she was sure he was looking in another direction. She couldn't help a moment of resentment for his good mood, after everything that had happened, but she quashed the feeling. Buried it. It felt weirdly like jealousy. |

Eventually it was enough. She didn't know if she let it all out. But she could think clearly without being upset, and she stopped sniffling. "Ah, thanks Daichi⦠I just don't know what came over me." She wiped her nose with the back of her sleeve. Yeah, she was right. Very, very embarrassing. Thank goodness no one held it against her though. She needed to focus more on keeping her cool, or she might have just gotten overwhelmed in a serious situation, or something⦠"Ah, let's go home, eh? I'm glad everyone's okay, aren't you?" |

"Literally any time Hanako-san. I'm here for you. A call, contact through bedlam, anything. I'll come running alright?" Daichi spoke with a casual sincerity as finally he let go of the hug. At least his friend seemed to have relieved some of her own stress, and he was even able to help in some way! A warm feeling welled up in his chest. Happiness from being able to be there for a friend. He hoped Hanako would take him up on his offer if ever she needed to talk about something, or just flat out needed a hug! "Yes, home sounds wonderful right about now. It is fantastic that nobody was grievously injured. Though I suppose that in that case, one of us would have the healing magic necessary to help regardless!" |
