Fubuki followed after the policeman. It seemed that both of them had no idea what's going on to them, so it would be better for both of them to stick together so that they could get out of this place alive. Tom also mentioned that he saw a butterfly earlier, so the butterfly might have something to do with them being in this place. And Fubuki couldn't even imagine how's it like to have a booming, loud voice inside her head. She was glad that Beast of Alaya didn't talk loudly.

"I-I'm fine," Fubuki answered. Well, relatively she's fine, except that she was in her nightwear, was barefooted and was slightly injured, thanks to the wolf that attacked her earlier. "It's just really cold, you know?" she said, shivering slightly. Her flimsy tank top did nothing to keep her warm, and the cold floor didn't help her either.

And now that she was walking with a policeman in an unknown place, the country girl could only hope that they wouldn't have to face another dangerous thing again. She would like to get out of this place alive and in one piece.

Tom paused for a moment, flipping the balaisong shut before half-sticking it into a pocket. He unzipped the jacket in a quick motion, hanging it off one finger and passing it back to her. "Here, it's unbecoming for a gentleman to leave a young lady out in the cold." He gave a half smirk as he flipped the knife back out, sliding the mask back over his face again.

Argus flashed back into existence, the same goggles descending over its unchanging visage as Tom inspected the surrounding area. Argus dispersed much faster this time as he pulled the mask off, keeping it in his left hand rather than bagging it. "There's a lot more movement around now, but I spotted a set of stairs going up. Might as well give them a shot." He struck up pace again, glancing back at the girl. Besides the bit of bleeding that was still ongoing, she looked like she was holding together remarkably well. Then again, so was he. The newfound flare of power in his chest did wonders for his sanity at least, though with giant mechanical soul-monsters appearing at his beck and call, he wasn't exactly so sure HOW sane he was. Regardless, it was plain as day that she was much younger than him, a high school student maybe. He decided to at least help take her mind off things while they figured the way out, truthfully, even he was starting to get a little nervous.

"So, what's the story Fubuki? I take it you live in Nagashima, right? Are you a student?"

Fubuki looked at the policeman in slight wonder as he offered her his jacket. Then she reached out to take the jacket and smiled bashfully. "Thank you..." she expressed her gratitude to the policeman who lend her his jacket before she put it on herself. It was warm, the country girl thought to herself. Now, they were in the middle of an unfamiliar place, a place where frightening monsters could be seen. Being a normal teenager around her age, Fubuki was scared, but with someone like Tom with her, she thought that they could make it out alive.

Fubuki could only wish that she had some kind of weapon that she could use to protect herself from any dangers that might show themselves here in this place. But since she had this guardian entity called Persona, she thought that she would be alright for the time being.

"Huh? Umm..." then, Tom asked her something, probably to put their minds at ease. "Actually, I am a transfer student, got transferred a week ago," she told the policeman about herself. "I'm not from Nagashima," then, after a pause, she continued. "Is this normal?" she asked, referring to the place both of them were currently in.

Tom remained silent as they ascended the stairs, trying to hear for echoes from above. They hit the upper landing without incident, and Tom consulted Argus again for direction. "Looks like this might be a way." he exited the stairwell, hanging a right down another hallway.

"Transfer student huh?" he said, continuing the conversation. "Know the feeling, I was a transfer student at Tayoutono something like... 11 years ago? In the event it's not been obvious, I'm actually American. Got naturalized when I was like 23. Lived in Kyoto and then came here." Tom gave the place a cursory glance as they moved, eying the faded, peeling paint and crumbling floor tiles as they passed under still-working lamps. Tom gave an offhand chuckle as he recalled her last question. "Asking the wrong question to the wrong person. When I moved here for the first time, I would've said no. Being in the police department, you see a lot of stuff. My first instinct: nothing in Nagashima is normal, period. Entirely honestly: No, this is weird even by my standards. Last I recall I couldn't summon 'the mask used to face hardship and strife' at will." his voice took on a self-mocking, sarcastic twinge as he ended his sentence.

"There's a lot of stuff going on I have yet to understand, but I get the feeling this'll come in handy." He held up the death mask clutched in his left hand. "At the very least, you have something to protect yourself too." He fell back into silence as he thought about the future. "Alright, so, when we get out here's what's gonna happen. If we breathe a word about this to anyone else, I figure it's gonna be pretty bad. We're not quite incognito looking like this, so we'll have to get off the streets quick as possible. If wherever we pop up is closer to your place, I'll take you there and go home. If not, we'll go to mine, I'll fix your leg and take you back on my bike..... I guess we'll figure out the rest as we go."

Fubuki listened to Tom. Apparently, he was one of the foreigners who somehow got naturalized. She shouldn't be surprised, considering that there were a lot of foreigners out there in Nagashima. Ever since the first day she came to the city, she had seen many weird and bizarre things here and there, and she could only look at them in amazement and wonder. "I-I see..." Fubuki said. She followed Tom to climb the stairs before she heard a strange noise.

"Umm... Tom-san, did you hear that?" Fubuki asked the policeman whether he heard that noise or not. Another strange noise meant another potential danger for both of them. She could feel her knees shaking in fear, remembering the attack from the monstrous wolves earlier. She could only hope that it wasn't something more dangerous than the wolves this time. "Y-you can see things using your Persona, right? Can you see what's ahead?" she asked.

Meanwhile, Beast of Alaya stirred inside her mind, as if comforting her, telling her to overcome her fear. The strange noise became louder, and if Tom could sense it using his ability, he would figure out that it was a pair of shapeless pools of black mud with masks on them. It would take a matter of time before they could finally show themselves in front of Fubuki and Tom.

Tom jerked to a halt, instinctively calling for her to stop with an outstretched left hand. He listened to her for a moment, flicking his eyes forward as he blew air up to push strands of hair out of his eyes.

"Yeah, I did. Be quiet a second." Even without using Argus, Tom DID feel something ahead, in the same hazy manner as before. Two of them, they felt like they had no definite form, and were just sloshing along the ground like sludge. "Yeah, I can see. Hang on." Tom replaced the mask, and called for Argus. The giant mechanical figure appeared once again, but this time when his goggles cycled, they stopped then jerked spastically as blue and red emergency lights on the helmet flickered to life. Inside Tom's mask, two forms ahead were highlighted with holographic tags, a small circular prompt asking him in English to wait. "There's two of them, get ready. Tom lowered himself into a half-crouched stance as Argus disappeared. The updated information in his display flashed briefly before disappearing. Tom glanced over the information, one of the symbols causing the warmth in his chest to flare.

"CALL THE THUNDER, THE ROAR OF THE HEAVENS." The voice in his head brought along a new feeling, something similar to the sensation of being shocked, a tingle that ran along Tom's spine and into his arms. "Fubuki, I....I can see stuff they're weak to, I think. See if your....Persona can call thunder or... wind and fire. Be careful, only one of them is weak to it, the other is weak to ice." Tom realized half of what he was saying was utter insanity, but with the voice in his head and everything else, what was sanity?

The Mayas finally made their appearance, making a sickening noise as they moved. Fubuki took a few steps back, was disgusted to see something so shapeless moving towards them like some horror movie monsters. She also could smell their sickening odor as they approached.

"They have weaknesses?" Fubuki looked at Tom as he mentioned that they had weaknesses. Apparently, they were weak against certain elements that one could see from video games. While she wasn't an avid gamer to begin with, she was familiar with it. "A-alright! Let's see..." she closed her eyes, trying to focus on Beast of Alaya that was stirring inside her head. Much to her disappointment, she didn't have any of those powers other than darkness and a physical attack. "Umm... I don't think I have any of those..." she said regretfully.

"No time to hesitate! Just use my power!!"

Hearing Beast of Alaya's voice, Fubuki instinctively conjured her mask and put it on her face. Once again, Beast of Alaya materialized in the air, red cloak billowing despite the lack of wind. The humanoid figure had her eyes closed, but then she opened her eyes and zoomed towards one of the Mayas, delivering a Cleave. The Maya, the blue-masked one let out a strange, strangled noise as it was hit by Beast of Alaya.

The numbing electrical feeling began to swelter in Tom's chest, as he turned back to face the Maya. "Don't sweat it, I do." The same familiar mist churned around Tom's feet, flaring hard into life as Argus did. His floating limbs pulled back behind his chest, arcing electricity across his body as they did. The whirling rings circling the Tesla coil in his chests sped up audibly, arcing more electricity across the metal rings as the charge built. In less than a second, it was done.

"Zio!"

The Tesla coil on Argus' right shoulder lit up in static power, the automaton's limbs floating out further as three coils of lightning flew out, their paths curving wildly before slamming hard into the Cowardly Maya.

The Cowardly Maya couldn't stand a chance against the Zio after being hit by the Cleave earlier. Its mask broke and the shapeless black Shadow melted into a puddle of black mud before evaporating into nothingness. The remaining one, the Merciless Maya let out a strange noise before it launched an Agi towards Tom.

Fubuki looked at the remaining Shadow before she ordered her Persona, Beast of Alaya to attack it using another Cleave. Beast of Alaya's twin swords slashed through the Merciless Maya's shapeless body, and it let out a beastly shriek after being attacked.

"Don't overdo it. You are still newly-awakened. Using the same technique will drain you." Fubuki could hear Beast of Alaya warning her from inside her head.

If Tom still had any lingering doubts as to the reality of everything, the Agi that burned at his clothes most certainly cleared them. The officer reeled back in pain as the fireball connected with his torso, leaving a dull yellow stain on his shirt. The skin beneath however, felt absolutely aflame. Not burned to the bone, but excruciating nonetheless.

"Agh! Shit that fucking hurts." Where the attacks from the wolves felt like more sparring than anything, this actually had some weight behind it. Alongside the pain, there was also a creeping sluggishness creeping at the edges of his mind. Looks like this stuff doesn't come free, gotta wrap this up quick then. "Two can play it at that game, asshole!" The mist flared up again, as Argus fired another Zio at the remaining Maya, the arcs converging yet again just before reaching the remaining pile of sludge.
