"I... if you say so Machi-chan..." Goichi said it with a tone that, although he didn't really agree, he'd comply anyways. He almost dropped his PSP and clasped his hands to his mouth. The three monkeys. Speak no evil. Machi-chan? Really dude? "I mean Machi-san! Machi-san! I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you!" Goda sputtered. He was now dealing with an (assumed) furious Machi and (assumed) two strikes against him. "I-If you still want to go I'd love to, I mean, oh god I'm so sorry..." This lunch was not going as he'd planned, not at all. He'd be kicking himself over this period for a long time, he could feel it. He tried to go back to playing, but his rhythm was all thrown off. He made it a few seconds before he was shot to pieces again. Shit! |

Machi's ears twitched very slightly at the suffix, and her smile returned. It only widened when Goichi seemed to try to excuse himself out of it - rather adorably - and she ended up covering her mouth as well, though for an entirely different reason, which was to muffle a small laugh. "It's quite alright, don't worry." She eventually responded, once brought down from the laughter high. "Though I take it I get to call you Goichi-kun from now on then?" 'You realize Momoko will find him and stab him to death, right?' 'Please, Momo-chan is harmless~' "Is there any way I can help you calming down?" She asked once realizing how thrown off he was. Her presence was a bad thing, wasn't it? |

Goichi sputtered. Machi was NOTHING like he initially suspected. How could he have been so wrong? so laughably, incredibly wrong? His ship was blown up for a third time, and the game gave up on him. GAME OVER, please enter your initials. He absentmindedly entered his handle, GG1, and pressed enter, and his recent score took it's place in the tenth place bracket, amongst a wall of the same initials. GG1. Goichi Goda Number 1, though he didn't believe it at this particular moment. He was King Foot-in-Mouth of Awkward Island. "I... I haven't had anyone call me Goichi-kun in a long time..." Goda said, feeling lame as he said it. As if she needed more indications that he was a friendless loser. "It's... nice..." It was more than nice, but he didn't know how to say it. He didn't know how to do anything socially, it was all an unmapped wasteland. "Help me calm down?" He blinked, then laughed uncomfortably. "No I... I'm sorry, I'm just like this. I haven't had a friend at school for a uh, a long time. I guess I'm just not used to, y'know." He made a few vague hand motions, his PSP on his lap, still displaying the wall of GG1 on the high score table. "...This, I guess." |

Those initials... Machi recognized them instantly. She had seen 'GG1' imprinted in the high scores of many arcade games before... This boy was that legend? Interesting... "I take it I can refer to you as such?" She calmed down ever since the laughter, and her smile was comfortable on her face, instead of wide and grinning. It just felt rather natural as she watched him. "Would you grant me the honor of being the first since then?" Machi decided to hold her hand out for a handshake. Ganga was ever so kind, reminding her it was a very bad idea, but the blonde ignored it. Sure, she had to leave, but... By then, hopefully, she would've introduced Goichi to her own circle of friends. They were nice, and many were gamers anyway, so he'd feel right at home. |

"I.. I... yea sure." Goichi eventually stammered out. "Goichi-kun is uh, yea. Yea, it's fine M-m-machi-chan." That he managed to choke out such a familiar honorific to her name was a good sign, even though the stuttering made him sound like a Model T engine that wouldn't quite crank start. Then she threw another wrench into his gears - she held out a perfectly manicured hand. His eyes widened. He looked up at her, then back at the hand, as if this was some kind of joke. He reached his hand out, then stopped about halfway, looking quickly at her eyes, trying to find a hint of malicious intent, and detecting nothing. He closed the distance and grasped her hand - wow it's really soft and shook it quickly. How did this work, again? was it three shakes before you let go? He decided that sounded good. One two three, and he released her hand. His face was red. His hand was (oh jesus christ why god, why did you do this to me) sweaty. "I, uh, I sure, yea, you can be the uh..." He gulped. Out of his element. "T-the first. The first, yes." "Is it hot out here? It feels hot. Really hot." He didn't know what he was saying. He attempted to go back to his game, and, after turning it on, promptly dropped his PSP into the grass. "Ah, uh, oh god! Dammit!" He picked up his console, and dropped it again. He was coming apart at the seams, and he didn't know why. |

Machi shook Goichi's hand, making sure not to make it a tough handshake as such was easily perceived as rude. The smile on her face widened with the contact. Progress! She mentally patted herself on the back for a job well done. "I'm glad." She beamed, happy to have made a new friend, despite both Ganga and her own Shadow trying to hammer in that it was a bad, bad idea. Eh, worst case scenario, she could just keep in touch via phone or something. Machi bit her lip as if to contain laughter with Goichi's embarrassment. It was rather cute. As the console fell a second time, Machi bent over in her seat, picking it up, and handing it to the boy. "Would you rather have me leave you to your game?" She was pretty positive her very presence was throwing Goichi off, and it would take some time for him to get used to it, so might as well take things slow. |

Goda turned his PSP off, letting out a tortured sigh. "Yea, I mean..." He remembered not to bring her status into it, even though it still intimidated him. "I don't mean to offend you Machi-chan but that was more socialization than I've done in a long time." That wasn't a lie at all. Goda had essentially been friendless since middle school, consumed entirely by his passion. He was sure there were plenty of students in the school who played The boy checked his watch, eyes widening in surprise at the time. "Oh wow. Lunch is about over anyway." Goda packed up his things, sneaking what he hoped were covert glances at Machi. He didn't get to see her up close too often - the combination of blood red eyes and long, blonder hair made her stand out from the crows, even in a school with as many strange students as Taiyoutono. Goda blushed as he gathered his things. "I hope we c-can be good friends, M-machi-chan." With that, he began to walk off, bracing himself for the rest of the day's lectures. |
