Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

Kinzaki had called him to the mansion she lived in and the first thought that came to mind was this: She's firing me. Shinta was certain that his biggest source of funding for his mother's chemotherapy was going to cut him off. But, if she did, he probably deserved it. In fact, he did deserve it- he'd been hired to protect Kinzaki and he had failed. Even so, that rationalization didn't prevent him from looking like a condemned man on his way to the noose as he was escorted into the mansion- There was a noticable sag in his shoulders and slow shuffle in his step as he walked |

Shinta was escorted into the mansion by one of Kinzaki's bodyguards, Kiyo. Her face seemed serious and apparently emotionless. She didn't say anything as she led the boy down the corridors before Kinzaki showed up, wearing a red kimono, with floral patterns. Unlike what Shinta would use to remember, instead of blonde, her hair was as white as snow. It was due to the trauma of her kidnapping, or probably something else entirely, but no one was so sure about it. "Welcome, Watanabe-san," Kinzaki greeted the boy. "Now, please follow me..." she said before she turned back, leading Shinta towards her office. There was no smile shown when she showed up. |

Shinta noticed the change in hair color, though that's not what bothered him. The lack of a smile in Kinzaki's welcome practically guaranteed he was getting fired. His mother was going to die, unable to receive treatment because of his failure. He followed Kinzaki into her office, still looking like he was about to be hung from the gallows. |

And so, Kinzaki led Shinta into her office before she took her seat. She looked at the boy emotionlessly before she gestured to the seat in front of the table. "Please have a seat..." she said in a rather monotonous tone. |

This was torture. Slow, agonizing, soul-crushing torture. He sat, head hung low. "I think I know why you called me here..." said Shinta glumly. "I failed to protect you from your aunt, and now you're going to fire me and stop paying for my mother's chemotherapy...I can't honestly say I disagree with you..." |

Kinzaki frowned for a while before she closed her eyes. "No..." she said. "I didn't call you to fire you, Shinta-kun..." the heiress said. "Rather, I'd like to give you a new job..." she said. She rested her hands on her table as she looked at Shinta. "And please do not worry. I won't stop paying for your mother's chemotherapy. I'm not that cruel, you know?" she smiled slightly to make a point. |

Shinta let out a relieved sigh and sat up. "Thank you. Now, what exactly is this new job?" |

Kinzaki intertwined her fingers with each other, making a classic Gendo-like pose while looking at Shinta. "First of all, are you up for some manhunting?" she asked. |

Shinta's expression turned grim. "I'm assuming you want me to go after your aunt." he said, shifting in his seat. Kinzaki might notice he was clenching one arm of the chair with his hand so tight that the knuckles had gone white.

Kinzaki smiled slightly. "Good. I'm glad that you catch it up rather quickly, Shinta-kun..." the heiress said, shifting her hands a bit as she continued to look at the boy before her. "Yes, but it's nothing big, actually..." she said, tilting her head slightly. "And for your information, this very room is bugged by surveillance devices and hidden audio recorders, but after my aunt's disappearance, there's no point of worrying about it..." Kinzaki continued. "She disappeared, but I am sure that she's bidding her time to strike. Due to that, I'll be counting on you if she makes her move, Shinta-kun..." she said with a rather devious smile. Her tone was cold and calm, fitting for a Kirihara. "So, what do you say?" she asked the boy. |
