WHERE THE FUCK IS MARIO
The masked figure chuckled. "I see. Teamwork in the wrong situations can usually end rather badly. I am glad to see you made it out alright though. As for me, do not worry too much. I'm not very good at teamwork, but if we keep our wits about us, we'll be able to triumph."

Aleksandria chuckled. "Yes. I can't say I was expecting that sort of thing either." When Machi said they should take it out the Russian nodded. "Yes. I think it would be best to just destroy it." The girl whistled, the sound muffled by her helmet, but not enough to stop it completely. The Ball turned and charged towards them.

"If you think you can't beat it, hit the floor! We'll lure it away." The figure's hand began to glow with white fire. As she held her hand up, the fire erupted from her palm, exploding into the ball with the force of a laser. Despite her effort the ball slowly moved forward. "Be careful! Its still coming for us!" She held her wrist, the stream of white fire continuing, but the ball was still pushing through it. It was melting somewhat, but the shell wasn't the target. They needed to hit the core.

"I was trying to take control of the team, but this one guy just left me to die when I was severely injured." Might as well make conversation, Machi figured. The event was well past her, but it still served as a teamwork lesson nonetheless. "I hope he has learned how to prioritize since then..."

...

"I doubt I'll meet someone how can make that big of a tactical mistake, who actually made it to second tier."

Such was intended as a compliment. The Ruins... It was either do or die. For that woman to make it that far? She had to be good, pure luck just wouldn't cut it. Heck, even good ones got cut down rather frequently.

"Let's do this, then." Machi summoned her ever so plain mask, though meaningful nonetheless, to her face. Her crimson gaze observed the scene past it carefully. She decided to sheathe her blade while at it - she doubted it was a good idea to strike that thing physically, plus it would become a hindrance if she wanted to dodge quickly.

She seemed somewhat disturbed by the fire coming from her partner's technique - weaknesses could be jerks - but she decided to ignore the heat, and summoned Ganga's serpentine figure behind her. Soon enough, the blonde had launched a potent Bufu spell towards the massive ball in the form of an icicle chucked at high speeds - harder than regular ice, that was for sure -, pouring a little extra energy into it. However, she was on her toes, ready to move when necessary.

Fire and ice, how fitting.

The girl nodded slowly. "I understand. It is hard to forgive and forget after moments such as those. I too hope that your near death experience has given him some perspective." Her own experiences had done a lot more. The park had taken her fangs. Ever since she had a sword to Kawabata. When she thought she could kill the principal that had turned on her.

She was wrong. There was no way. Her fangs had been blunted and her bloodlust was poisoned. The stench of death was no longer a welcome partner. The sight stunned her and more importantly, she could not take a life. Not anymore. The figure shrugged. "I too have made similar mistakes. I'm still here, but perhaps you could call that luck."

As she kept her distance from the fire, the Russian assumed it was her weakness. Or maybe she really didn't want to touch white hot fire. The icicle pierced the melted shell and a moment later, ichor squirted from the center, like a burst spot. The ball began to lose consistency and slowly melted to nothing. The figure stopped her blast of fire and shook her hand.

"I was saddened by its quick demise. Keep close, we do not know what the next obstacle could be."

"Actually, it didn't. He tried to apologize to me with a flower instead." It took a while for Machi to let it sink in when it happened. Heck, Machi had stormed out from the coffee shop in a fit of rage, despite it being Hanako's celebratory event and all.

She could only hope Akira got better.

Machi watched as the wrecking ball died rather pathetically, nodding in agreement. It seemed that the pair had overestimated it. The blonde's mask disappeared, and she motioned with her head further down the path, in hopes that the figure would follow.

"How about we call it a mix of skill and luck?" She suggested, picking up on the conversation previously interrupted due to the battle formerly at hand. "I suppose it takes luck to survive, but it takes skill to learn from past mistakes."

As they walked, out of two adjacent rooms - one to the front, and one to the back - two Jester-like Shadows emerged, rushing out to block either path, so to ambush them in that location.

The first one, in front of them, seemed to be themed in red and black. It was juggling a few metal batons with flames in their tips. Machi quickly concluded it used Agi-type spells.

Wonderful.

The second one, behind them, was dressed in white and blue instead, the exact opposite of its partner. The ivory rods it juggled had a snowflake gem in each end. Ice?

Perhaps they were the antithesis of one another, including strengths and weaknesses alike? So, if the one behind them used Bufu...

"I'll take care of the red one." Machi spoke up, bringing her mask to her face. It would be an experiment. Ganga appeared behind the woman, casting a Bufu spell on the Shrewd Madcap. It hit home and the Shadow stumbled back, but regained its composure eventually. Definitely not its weakness at all.

In response, the Shrewd Madcap's juggling got faster and faster. It was certainly noteworthy for the skill needed alone; as if it was trying to distract the pair from their task, and rend them vulnerable.

In the meantime, the Impish Madcap behind them charged at Aleksandria, attempting to perform a Skewer to throw them both off guard.

"I like that. It takes a warrior to learn from mistake. It takes a fool to repeat mistake." As the Jester shadows appeared Aleksandria's mask was made manifest, a strange halo floating above her head. With the Halo came the grand design of her Persona, an angel, wearing bright white robes, one of its eyes covered by a cross.

She pointed to the ice wielding shadow. "I will handle these then." As they came to Skewer the girl, she drew her rapier, attempting to defend. If successful, she would then retailate with a riposte. A halo appeared above her head and the Archangel Gabriel emerged from the darkness. He raised his hands and cast Agidyne on one of the shadows. The white fire rose from the ground, attempting to engulf the shadow.

"Keep close. I think they are planning to seperate us."

Machi seemed unaffected by the Shrewd Madcap's juggling, such was her concentration. Its attempt of a distraction, at least for the blonde, went by harmlessly; and apparently so for the masked figure as well, since she was facing the opponent in the opposite direction.

The other Madcap's attack was defended, and it jumped back so to avoid a potential attack... To no avail, as the Agidyne hit it at point blank. The weakness was correctly guessed, and that attack alone was enough to make it explode into a pile of black goo.

"Nevermind what I said about lack of skill gap." Machi commented with good humor dripping into her phrase. Not wanting to get close to those flaming batons, she formed another first tier icicle, chucking it at the enemy.

It didn't make a whole bunch of damage, but it hit its arm, impaling it. The force of the throw was enough to make it fall, and pin it down as the head of the icicle stuck against the ground.

"Would you do the honors, or should I?" She asked, as the batons fell across the floor, sans for one, which remained in the Madcap's strong grip as it tried to break free.

As the shadow exploded, the Russian smiled beneath her helmet. To see a shadow die still stoked a flame in her heart. Perhaps that lust for violence wasn't as dead as she thought. Perhaps it was a combination of the first release of her powers in a long time. Perhaps it was simply the fact that she was able to let loose once more.

"Yes, but you will not slow me down. I am completely without an idea of where to go." She smiled. Perhaps it was unwise to show her hand, but this girl who had come to the Ruins when Aleksandria needed a partner, purely a teamup of coincidence, she was intriguing enough for her to want to know more, or even speak to further.

As the shadow was pinned the Russian shook her head. "I feel as if you have earned that right."

"Well, we could do one of two things, stranger-san." Having been granted the honor, Machi stepped towards the downed enemy. It tried to strike at her with the flaming metal weapon, which was promptly block by the blade of her katana.

As Machi held the block right there, she proceeded to press her foot down on the Jester's face. Harder, and harder, almost sadistically...

"Either we keep going and meet a final batch of enemies..." Eventually, she pressed hard enough for the head to explode. The rest of the body started to melt into the ordinary black goo. "...Or we could return to the entrance. It's getting quite late..."

At least, she finally felt insomnia was starting to catch up to her.

Aleksandria watched with intent as the girl crushed the shadow's head with her foot. Keep going or turn around? What was the wisest way to go about it? She felt a yawn coming on herself. Damn yawning and being contagious.

"Perhaps for now we should return. This has served quite well as a measure for my skills. I am glad they have not become rusty through underuse." The Masked figure turned back the way they came. "So shall we go? I have been most impressed with your skills. Have you been a Persona User long?"

Upon the mention of returning, the ice around Machi's blade melted, forming a water puddle on the floor. She then sheathed the weapon. The icicle melted as well, and she turned to nod at the masked stranger, promptly following.

"Not particularly... For a few months, though, as of late, coming here has been rather rare." Stupid engagement. Stupid father. Stupid life in general. "I'm not certain if I will be able to come here at all eventually, so I intend to hone my skills as much as possible until then."

At last, she started to feel really tired; but not tired enough that she couldn't drive. "My only free time as of late has been late hours, whenever I suffer from insomnia." It really, really sucked. She was usually destroyed the next day, but was forced to put a smile on her face. "I take it your availability is similar?"

Another thing tugged at her mind. "Will I have to refer to you as Stranger-san forevermore?" She actually laughed lightly at the idea, injecting good humor into the conversation once again.
