Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

Shinta just wanted to beat someone senseless. So, he went to fight club the day after Natsumi told him she was seeing someone else. Kenji, the man who ran the fight club, gave Shinta a pat on the back when the teen walked in. "Heya Shinta, haven't seen you in a while." Shinta responded with a guttural grumble. "Not in a good mood Kenji. I just need someone to beat up until I feel better," he said bluntly. "Alright, alright," said Kenji with a sigh. "Lemme find you an opponent..." Ten minutes later, Shinta was facing off with a young Caucasian man with a scar across his nose and dark circles under his eyes. Shinta mentally grinned, wondering if this guy was Shane Spencer and suddenly wanting to put more dark spots on the sap's body. "Go!" shouted Kenji, and Shinta wasted no time delivering a vicious stiletto kick to the opponent's chest, sending him toppling to the battered, scratched up safety mat with a resounding thud. The onlookers let out a surprised- and maybe pained- oooh as it happened. "Get up," whispered Shinta. The man opposing him slowly stood, glaring at Shinta, obviously enraged that some young punk not only got the first hit in but managed to knock him over. He yelled and charged at Shinta, swinging his arm in a heavy arc for a haymaker that Shinta blocked by grabbing the man's wrist. The man kicked, but Shinta moved his arm to grab the man's ankle, then pushed on the arm and the leg to force the man to move away. Shinta scoffed. "That all you got, gaijin? You don't impress me." Shinta then made a flattened fist and slammed it hard into the Caucasian man's solar plexus. There was a surprised exhalation from the man, the wind knocked out of him. He flopped to the mat, groaning in pain. "Get up," snarled Shinta. a little louder this time. The man staggered to his feet, still groaning- only to get a brutal crescent kick to the side of the head. The crowd shouted in shock as the man was sent sprawling. "I-I s-surre-" Shinta laughed bitterly. "Ah, hell no, I'm not done with you. You may think you can tap out of life's problems, but I'm here to show you otherwise." As Shinta raised his foot, ready to stomp on the Caucasian's head when he was grabbed from behind and thrown to the mat. Shinta could see Jun Wu looking down at him, looking displeased with Shinta. "Come with me. Now," the sifu said sternly. Shinta got to his feet and was pulled out of the building after he put his shirt and shoes back on. "The hell is wrong with you?" yelled Jun Wu. Shinta kicked the dirt in frustration. "Trying to win! That's the point of fighting, to beat the other asshole into submission!" Jun Wu reached out and backhanded Shinta across the face. "That is a philosophy of murderers and fools!" he shouted sternly. "You are a slave to anger, you let your hurt turn you into a uncaring beast." "I'm not a slave to anyone," growled Shinta. "You say that, but do you honestly believe it?" asked Jun Wu. "What is your reason to fight? What drives you?" "I fight for my mother," said Shinta. "What mother wants their child to fight? If you loved her, you would seek peace," said Jun Wu. "For my honor." "There was nothing honorable about what you were about to do in there," said Jun Wu. "...t-to be stronger..." "What is 'strength'?" asked Jun Wu. "Your body may be strong, but I see weakness in your spirit." Shinta felt like he'd slammed the brakes on a speeding car, coming to an abrupt start. He didn't know what he fought for...he didn't understand his motivation for fighting, in the streets or in the ruins, at least no motive that wasn't selfish. "Can't answer, huh?" Jun Wu said darkly. "You're lost, blind, running head-first into the fog without knowing where you're trying to go." "Every path I want to take is blocked!" shouted Shinta. "My mother has cancer, the person paying for her treatment was kidnapped, and the girl I liked has been seeing someone else! I have nowhere to go!" Jun Wu shook his head. "Overcome the obstacles. Push the barricades aside or move on." "How?!" screamed Shinta. "That is a question only you can answer," said Jun Wu, walking away, leaving Shinta behind, feeling more angry and confused than he was before he showed up there.
