Nomura heard what she said. She did know. After all this time.

He closed his eyes, and wept silently. She'd known. How she did, he would never figure out. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair!

"It's not fair!" he wailed. "I'm Daisuke Nomura! These things don't happen to important people like me! That stupid Bunpei! God damn him!"

He kicked his feet as Mayu dragged him, like a petulant child. He knew she was dragging him to his end, and he flailed as hard as he could - a pathetic effort. He alternated between calling Mayu names and cursing the departed Bunpei.

Jimmy shook his head.

Pathetic. He revealed himself, finally stepping out from behind the Conn-ex box.
He walked over to the hole, the cement mixer spinning gaily away nearby. He wheeled it over to the hole, and prepared to angle the drum downwards so he could fill the sinkhole and put Nomura to a well deserved grave.

He looked at the petulant, flailing man, and felt his choler rise. "Shut your fat, stupid ass up!" he hissed at him, vehemently.

"My advice to you, Nomura?" Jimmy said, his eyes nothing but two cold orbs of hatred, "You find that goddamn gun when you hit the bottom of the sinkhole, stick it in your fucking mouth, and pull the trigger. You're going to disappear, Nomura. Whether or not you're breathing when it happens is of no fucking consequence to me."

Nomura went catatonic, and stopped struggling. Jimmy spat at the ground near his feet.

"Scum like you aren't an even trade for the lives you ruin."

"I-I have a wife and kids!" Nomura finally spat.

Jimmy left the mixer for a second. "So. Did. He."

He grabbed Nomura by the jowls and directed his face to Bunpei's grave. He let go, and wiped his hand on Nomura's shirt, as if touching him was dirty. He took his place by the mixer, his face a mask of barely contained anger.

"Yeah, 'n I'm the fuckin' foot that's gonna be up your ass if y'don't shut the fuck up." Mayu grumbled, never having liked the panicked distress of criminals about to meet their doom. It was the most hypocritical thing she'd ever seen each and every time.

The dragging came to a halt as Jimmy approached. Mayu held the man in place, letting both share Nomura's final conversation, watching on silently.

Jimmy was far too emotional for her tastes still, but she understood his need to let out some steam, opting not to say anything about it. For a moment, her gaze flickered towards the office, and she reminded herself that they'd need to make whatever personal objects he had there disappear afterwards.

Couldn't give off the idea he had disappeared or outright died in that place after all.

"Okay, off ya go, fatass." Mayu finally grumbled as they were done. She raised her foot to the man's back, and pushed him roughly in the hole's direction, for him to fall in.

"Make sure ya say hi t'Bunpei for Jimmy here, yeah?" An actual smile tugged at the corner of her lips, but it was purely sadistic.

Nomura fell in. To his credit, he didn't scream on the way down.

Jimmy wordlessly dumped the drum, watching the concrete mix flow into the hole. He didn't care if the bastard was alive or dead when the concrete hit him.

He hadn't given Bunpei the same courtesy, why should he?

The drum emptied out, and the sinkhole was filled to the brim with smooth, gray concrete. He sighed, and looked up at Mayu.

Before he knew what he was doing, he swept her up into a desperate embrace, one of a man who realized he just created a void in his soul that was never going to be filled again.

And... he did it for another reason. He was glad she was alive. He was glad she was alive and Nomura wasn't. That feeling was a warm glow in his chest. Mayu was still here. Mayu was still here.

"John had to stop me from breaking cover when Nomura had the gun on you." Jimmy held her tighter. Tears flew from his eyes, partly in for what he just did, partly in dizzying relief. Mayu was still here.

"I was so worried, I... I..." He released her, and bit his knuckle. He was being too emotional. He knew he was being too emotional, he knew she hated it but he couldn't hide it this time. Mayu was still here.

And despite the black mark he'd stained upon his soul, that simple fact gave him more joy than he knew what to do with.

"I'm... sorry. We've got to clean up his personal effects, don't we?" He wiped his face with the back of his arm, leaving streaks of wetness. "So he looks like he disappeared."

The woman watched the man drown in the concrete. It surely was a painful way to die, and rightfully deserved, no less. But she found her gaze drawn towards Jimmy eventually, curious as to how he was handling it.

...Not very well, apparently.

The girl shut her eyes tightly and her hands clenched into fists as soon as she was held. Her instincts were yelling all sorts of profanities at its suddenness and tightness; hell, at the fact it was happening at all. Despite wanting to defend herself, she didn't. Mayu instead bit her lip, trying to focus, not moving.

He needs this, you know.

'...'

She took a deep breath, shaky at that, and finally willed herself to withstand the hold. Despite the red alert sounding in her mind, she followed Throne's lead for a change. "It's fine, it's over."

It was odd for her to comfort someone, of all things. Her hands didn't become any less tense, but she raised them nonetheless without noticing, letting them rest lightly against his sides. It was extremely awkward for her, she didn't know what she was doing.

And just like that, he was gone.

Mayu sighed deeply as her nerves slowly returned to normal. She cleared her throat and nodded at the last question, finally managing to cling onto a shred of sanity. "Be careful not t'leave any prints or anythin'. I'll get going now..."

If she was worried about Jimmy becoming like her, well, she would have to worry much. Jimmy didn't enjoy killing Nomura. Not by a long shot.

Did the fucker deserve it? Yes. Without a doubt. Would Jimmy do it again?

...Yes. Without a doubt.

He looked at Mayu, gave a brief smile, and nodded. "I understand. I do. No fingerprints, no trace. It's why I bought these."

He pulled a pair of latex gloves from his back pocket. "I got trash bags too. For his shit."

He put a few steps towards the office, then turned around. "And y'know? What you're wearing now?"

He grinned. "You look pretty cute. You should consider dressing like that more often."

"When you're uh... not... killing people."

Before a response could be formed (after he said it, he desperately hoped she'd just ignore it like she did most of what he said) he went inside the office and began to pile Nomura's shit into a trash bag.

At this, at least, he felt nothing. Not even for his family picture. Bunpei had had a wife, after all.

He sighed.

Rest in peace, Boon.

"Remember t'turn off his phone 'n such." Bullshit tracking systems. You never know. The girl sighed a bit and took a step back as if to turn, but was stopped by Jimmy speaking once again.

"...?" Cute? What was he talking about? Mayu seemed rather surprised that such a thing. Nobody dared to call her that before, that's for sure. She wasn't too sure how to react in the first place, so for a few seconds, she just stood there.

Then she reminded herself she'd actually have to wear that again.

"Tch, fuck no." She was quick to show her displeasure, but Jimmy was already walking away. The girl shrugged to herself, turned, and left without looking back.

Cute? What the hell was he on...
