Aleph made his face deadpan as he noticed Suzu and Karma's reactions to his introduction. Sure, it sounded like self-pity to some people, but Aleph said it because he always liked to say it, thank you very much. Sadly, as much as he wanted to smash Suzu and Karma into the ground, he had more important things to focus on. Like Mia, for instance. Mia seemed somewhat said, for some reason. "Yeah, we're friends. Why wouldn't we be?" Aleph said in reassurance. Why not? Being friends with someone like Aleph wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be. Aleph was good-looking, and he could be pretty charming and friendly...most of the time. When the topic of skills and leadership came up, Aleph became slightly confused, but shrugged. "I have fire, healing, and defense buff." Aleph said, then looked at Kakeru. "Why don't we let Mia-chan be the leader? She seems like a really smart person thing. Really, she does." In all honesty, though, Aleph didn't really care who was the leader. Anyone but Suzu or Karma leading the group was fine by him. Aleph looked at Kakeru. "How come you don't want to be leader?" Aleph asked. "You're stronger than everybody else here, and you always seem to know what the hell you're doing." |

"Well, it kind of gives the wrong idea to your friends, you know. If you tell everyone you don't have friends when you meet them, how am I supposed to feel?" 'As much as I hate to say it, you're probably still going to have to stick with that one, too. It'll be worth it. I promise.' When she had some alone time she was going to need a full explanation for what Lif was talking about. In the mean time, she just smiled at Aleph's explanation. It was totally contradictory with what he just said and he was the one who seemed to have a preoccupation with making friends. If he was going to put-off people who would have been his friends otherwise and just annoy and irritate everyone else further, that was totally within his rights to do so. "Also? Why do they call you 'Aleph' anyways? That's a really unusual nickname." Especially in a culture whose primary language doesn't even have an 'l' sound. But back to focusing on things? Toki had a great idea! Someone other than Karma or Suzu or Aleph would have been a good compromise and had the least static. He was oldest and had some real combat training, but he didn't want the job. So it defaulted to Mia then. She could have handled it, sure! "Thanks, Kimio-san! I'll do my best if you'll have me! My current Persona can heal wounds and improve defense, and is not very good at taking most types of attacks. But, I'm also a wild card so hopefully it won't remain that way too much longer?" Mia intentionally never boasted about her Arcana. It just meant a lot of potential at the moment. And unrealized potential was useless to everyone. 'Not too much longer, if you keep doing so well, Mia.' "Kagami-san's not the one who needs to improve here, Serizawa. We need to be able to work together as a coherent unit and we can't always run to him for all our problems, he's going to be busy enough making sure we're not too overwhelmed, so he can't make all the calls, right?" Perhaps the fact that she thought about things like that helped to justify her leading them? |

Kakeru nodded. "Mia-san is right, Aleph..." he said. "If I get too involved, then there is no point of this training trip, because I may end up hogging all the kills," he said that, stating the fact. "Then, you guys won't be able to learn anything from it..." So, the one who seemed to be the most suitable to lead the group would be Mia. And her potential as a Wild Card would be something to look forward. "So, Mia-san, you lead the charge. All you need is to give orders to others while facing the enemies while fighting alongside them. I'll be at the sideline, watching you guys." Then, he looked at Karma. "By the way, how about you, Karma? You haven't told us about all your skills yet." "Oh, yeah... I got fire, darkness and a physical skill," he said. "Is that good enough?" he asked. "That should be enough," Kakeru said. "Now that everything's done, then..." he looked at Mia. "Do your stuff, Mia-san. Tell everyone what they need to do..." he said. "And I'll be following you guys from behind, so don't include me in your group, alright?" Now, all he needed to do was to see how much they could do as a group. Seeing Aleph, he somehow had little hope, actually. Well, at least there's a hope. |

Toki and Suzu nodded in sync at Mia being appointed the leader. Them plus Karma were too hot-headed, and Aleph... Well, he barely was follower quality, let alone leader. They were kind of hoping such a thing would improve with this super training. Wild card, scanner, healer/buffer, dual element guy. It was actually quite the good party! Despite not admitting it, Suzu was actually looking forward to see how it was going to go. That was the kind of thing their group was all about anyway. "Yosh, let's go then!" |

"Well, it's a bad habit of mine, you see." Aleph explained to Mia. "I don't even remember why I still introduce myself like that, even though I actually got lots of friends." It really was second nature to Aleph. He couldn't lie. "I just think it sounds cool, is all. Very unique, you see. Plus, it rolls off the tongue better." Aleph said, commenting on his nickname. Finally, someone acknowledged the significance of his nickname without turning it into the butt of a joke. Yes! "I mean, people don't have to call me Aleph if they don't wanna. I'm kinda okay with just Akira too. Though, it makes me feel like a little kid, you see." Aleph listened as Kakeru gave his explanation, and so did Mia. Aleph eventually shrugged when they were done. "Meh. Good point, I guess." He agreed. It sounded reasonable enough as far as everyone else was concerned. So, Mia was the leader now! Yay! Thank God, too. Just think if Suzu or fucking Karma were chosen instead? Tch. Instant Beetle Hunt 2.0 right then and there. Aleph winced at the sudden thought. Ever since Machi turning cold happened and the SOS Brigade along with most of Aleph's social life collapsed, he dared not to even think of that incident ever again. It just brought up too many painful feelings inside. But enough screwing around! Now was the time to start exploring the ruins, get stronger, and show everyone what Aleph was really made of! That's the spirit! Just use everything you've learned from the Beetle Hunt up to this point. Show those red-haired douchebags who's boss! "Yay! Let's start this ruins exploration training thing! We're actually doing shit we never tried, for once!" Aleph said enthusiastically. He then ran up to behind Mia and saluted. "Lead the way, Mia-sensei." |

"Oh, I guess?" Did the name 'Aleph' roll off the tongue? Not…not really. It sounded awkward in English and Japanese was even worse. That was what? Hebrew, right? If 'Akira' made him sound like a kid, then the name Aleph just made him sound like a character from a science fiction story. Probably written by Pynchon or something… That was a totally dumb thing to start an argument over, so she wasn't gonna comment on it further. Instead she had more important things to worry about. "Well, I don't know if I have anything worthwhile to teach but… Kimio-san? You've had actual combat training, which is more than most of us can say, I think you'd be good to lead us in case something unexpected happened. Oh, speaking of 'unexpected…'" She donned her mask and cast Rakukaja upon him. "I don't think anything will come at you before Takaki-san will notice, but you can never be too safe…" That left what to do with Suzu, Aleph and Karma. "Aleph? I want you to go just after Kimio-san, and then Takaki-san, myself, and Karama? Of course, Takaki-san, keep an eye out for things, if something dangerous comes, let us know, the same for likely things to fight." Serizawa probably had the most powerful persona, Suzu could scan, Toki had the most practical experience. Having Toki and Aleph up front meant when they did fight, the most effective attacks could be brought to bear. And even still, that formation was hopefully spread out enough that they didn't risk all getting hit at once by area attacks, but still close enough to help at once if Toki needed it. "Okay then, let's take the left path first turn you see and keep going, Kimio-san?" She kept her hand on the handle of her knife, ready to follow in the group formation she suggested. |

Karma grinned. Well, he was alright with Mia leading the charge. It was even better than having Aleph McLoser to be the leader. "Alright, you can count on me!" he said, showing his fox-like grin. It seemed that he would be in charge for the rear, which was cool and dandy. Kakeru smiled. So far so good, he thought to himself. Now it's time to watch and evaluate. Perhaps they couldn't reach his level, but at least there had to be something that could make them stronger, at least stronger to reach into the dangerous parts of the ruins. "Alright, time to go," Kakeru said. "Good luck, all of you..." he looked at Mia. "Especially you, Mia-san. You are the leader now. Do what you must," he told the girl. |

"Why won't he shut the fuck up..." Suzu gritted her teeth, trying to keep calm. It was as if Aleph was deliberately trying to annoy people. Holding back for bubuzuke's sake was getting tougher, but she still did it. Withstanding such a thing was better than having a corporate heiress' wrath fall upon you anyway. Toki smiled in gratitude with the Rakukaja, and nodded to Mia. He could lead. He was new, but he could lead the way! No pressure. "Alright! I'll do my best." The Yakuza look-alike flashed a smile, and motioned the rest to follow. Just as instructed, he walked into the place, and turned at the first path they came across. So far, so good. "Good, the actual decent one was picked..." Suzu muttered again, and sighed. The girl proceeded to open her weapons bag and taking out the pieces of her weapon. To the haft, she screwed three of the smaller weights. She then attacked it to the shell, thus creating what looked like an oversized spiky metal club of doom, which was intimidating even for her. Totally normal for a girl her age. "Ready!" She took off after the others, making sure to follow the group in after Aleph. |

Aleph couldn't really hear whatever Suzu was muttering under her breath. Though, knowing Suzu, it probably wasn't something particularly happy or nice. He let out a small sigh and just ignored it. This was an opportunity to show everyone how much he had changed. He would deal with the lesser conflicts later. Aleph put on his mask and casted Rakukaja on himself, then proceeded to take his place and followed behind Toki. Now was the time to see how this would turn out. Hopefully, it wouldn't really turn into a second Beetle Hunt. Surely, Fate wouldn't be cruel enough to make history repeat itself, right? With assholes like Karma and Suzu? Who needs the bitchiness of Fate? |

'Oh, I know.' When Karma said she could count on him, she wast tempted, oh, so temped to respond with that. But instead of some irreverant flirting, she bit her lower lip and gave him a meaningful look, then responded with something a bit more neutral, and a lot more heartfelt than just playful flirting. "I know, Karma. I'm really lucky to have someone like you by my side." The teasing flirting can be deferred until they were safely done with the training expedition. Everyone else probably would have appreciated that too. Instead her eyes were forward and her vision was extremely clear. "Takaki-san? Of course let us know if you find something." She re-donned the porcelain carnival mask and went in with the others, right behind Aleph. Kakeru told them to pretend he wasn't there, so she would. That meant that if they succeeded or not was totally based on her judgement calls and their abilities. Karma was… well, she couldn't put it in words, but he definitely meant something to her. Suzu and Aleph were her friends, and Toki seemed like a nice guy despite his scary looks. She wasn't about to let anything happen to any of them. Not if she could help it. But she really couldn't could she? Lif couldn't even protect her most of the time, in her current state. She needed more. 'Now you have the right idea, and more you shall have in due time…' Meanwhile, Suzu would detect two groups, a large collection of Whimpering Seers At least a dozen or so of the extremely weak Shadows, or a smaller collection of more challenging foes: An armored Ursa,, a Greenhorn Pugilist and a Imbibing Goer. |
