[Takes Place concurrently with: Does Anyone Have a Metal Detector] --- To say Seiji Fujiwara had regretted ever coming would have been a gross understatement. But what else was he supposed to do? The question required an answer and he'd been chosen as the one to keep an eye on the damn harpy with the ring. Naoya had made it just fine. That meant if there was a problem it was likely on his end. There wasn't a problem though, not as far as he knew, there was the younger of the Sadako sisters who refused to just admit she was given the ring. The fact that everyone kept asking him to confirm it as though he suddenly had no idea he was doing? Well that bothered him, probably more than it should have. As he saw it as he found himself involved in the affairs of a murderer, it was in his best interests to not mess up a thing at any point. But he knew that ugly ring was there, with total certainty. After saying that he had little more to do with it. That's why he was sitting in the passenger side of Hanako's pink convertible at the time. He wasn't wrong, so getting into an argument with someone he didn't know at all was totally worth skipping out of pancake day for. Of course, Benkei, Hanako, Toru were not the only people informed of this by Seiji. As more than enough people were checking on Masumi and Etsuko's well-being, Maki Yamada put her focus on something else at that time: Going from the hotel, she intended to trace the most likely path that Nishiyo took that would have taken hear near Masumi's home for such a thing to have even been possible. Nishiyo had no idea of Etsuko's existence, it seemed more probable that at some point she was spotted and the younger of the Sadko siblings impulsively followed her than the elder finding the other in the home by chance. What she found along the way, sitting in a rather conspicuous vehicle in front of Masumi's home was a young man she recognized, but only description. "Fujiwara-san? Your name is Seiji Fujiwara, is it not?" She approached, and judging by his attention she was correct. It was her day off, so she wore street clothes. "I'm Officer Yamada." "Oh, the policewoman with the Robocop quote?" "Indeed. I take it all is well with Suzuki-san and Etsuko?" Seiji shrugged his shoulders and followed her gaze to the house. "They're fine. She won't admit to having the ring, but that's not really my problem is it?" "You never detected Nishiyo Sadako directly with it?" "When it's worn? I can't really tell who's wearing it." He frowned and tried again. Yeah, everyone was still in there, but their positions changed. Etsuko herself wasn't picked up on it. "…I guess I need to talk to Naoya about that." "Mmm. I suspected she came this way after the incident with Watanabe-san." "Were you there?" The question spawned an immediate follow-up. "Why wasn't she taken in then, or something?" Seiji wasn't so naive as to not assume the 'or something' probably meant her untimely demise. There was exactly one Persona-using criminal ever taken in and put on 'trial' and that ended with her going missing, didn't it? "The problem is somewhat confidential. But it came down to Chika Nakadachi's prolonged well being or that." He was involved as anyone in that. And her past experiences had caused Maki to decide to be less tight-lipped in that case. "I see…" He could have guessed from that much: Nishiyo was blackmailing Chika for her own safety and freedom. His fists clenched on reflex. Prior he felt she was just an unsavory character who did a poor job as masquerading as a rich ditz. She didn't matter to him one way or the other so long as the danger to himself and those he knew from her was dealt with. He didn't hold any actual dislike for her until that point. The idea that she was using Chika like that to save her own neck incensed him. "Is there anything more I can do, then?" "No." Maki shook her head. "You're probably more involved than you should be to begin with. If your part's played you should stay out of it further and let the others handle it. In fact? Now that I know she'd apparently taken this route, I intend to find out if anyone else saw someone that matched Sadako's description, and if so which way she went. Good day." "Same, Officer." She left, and no sooner did she did, he heard voices raised in the house. That Toru Motou reporter, right? And the girl. Seemed soon after that, leaving in a hurry was inevitable. He sat back in the seat and folded his arms. He'd done enough? As usual, it wasn't nearly enough to really make a difference, one way or the other. …whatever, he just wanted to return home at that moment. |
