"I see."

She tried to imagine a Sweden that wasn't monochrome, or incredibly bleak like in the films of Igmar Bergan. Going beyond that, she always seemed to have a sense of wonderment at the social systems of the Scandinavian countries. Particularly the rehabilitation-centric penal system.

More often than not, such thoughts often ended up reminding Maki that she seldom deviated from thinking about work in some way if she wasn't staring at a screen for two hours at a time.

Well, not that night. That night she'd put that behind her for the moment. "Is that what you miss the most about Sweden? The climate, or is it something else?"

"Sweden? I've never been there, unfortunately." Takeshi had always had a twinge of regret over not travelling more, and seeing the world. Though, with his job and family matters, it proved to be practically impossible to do so much as leave the very city for a single day without some sort of disaster occurring.

Maki voiced the question in his mind, so he stayed quiet, yet focused, visibly interested in what Laura had to say. Without so much as looking at the bartender, he made signal so to get a refill. Luckily, Toki caught on, and was quick to do so.

"Can I get anythin' for anyone else? Sorry for interruptin'."

What did Laura miss the most? It was a deeper question than anticipated. It was true that predominantly overcast weather mixed with the chance for breathtaking countryside was one appeal. But not the only one.

"I don't particularly miss anybody, I still have email contact with most of my old friends." One batch of friends, in particular, that could be reached at one location still even if not all of them used the computer room. "I think what I miss most is..."

Even if it had all been false, a mire of delusions to shape a fabricated world, there was something about life in that manor of 'grandfather's' that had been...even if this was only the angle of nostalgia painting everything. But something about the aesthetic of it, the pageantry, that now couldn't be defined or shared with anybody else, whether Laura was in Japan or back in Sweden.

"No interruption. I'm just lost in memories." Her fingers wrapped around her drink. "I think that's what people do at this time of night if they nurse a drink. To remember or forget."

"Hmm, quite. I suppose I should be listed in that former category." Maki was left starting down at her own glass. She'd drank all she was going to drank that night, but she still wanted to forget. To stop and relax for a bit before the stress threatened to completely overwhelm her.

Still, there was little use lamenting about what couldn't be changed, as much as she'd wished she could have. "I hope you enjoy Nagashima well, then, Laura-san."
