As Laura continued to think about it her recollection of meeting Detective Nakamura clicked into place, seeing him briefly during the case tied to the events at the park when they identified the remains of Kurosawa. Which, to Laura, was the most thrilling time she'd had in her internship given the excitement of such unusual conditions to the victim's death. However this wasn't the place to talk about it. And as she swirled her drink in the earshot of Detective Nakamura's revelations to his coworker she was starting to feel as if she might be intruding. Although she wasn't going to leave after just switching seats her, though it was equally unlikely that she'd be able to help in any fashion. |

There was a moment of self-awareness. Not quite an epiphany, but it was getting there. Nakamura-san was suddenly put out of his own home. She didn't know all the details, but one of the most common causes was… …ah, suspected infidelity. If he was suddenly reported to be living with a female coworker younger than he that would have only made the problem worse. Another small sip of her glass. "Ah, I…I see." She slowly nodded. "Were there anything I can do to help? By all means, let me know." It seemed best to focus on the other companion for the moment. Uehara's work was focused on the morgue. She was very young for her profession. "Laura, are you by chance a student at Rokketto still?" |

Takeshi nodded in gratitude towards Maki, before focusing solely on the drink, and letting the two women talk. Little did he know that someone else was aiming to provide help for him already. "Um... Dude, y'know..." Toki cleared his throat before leaning on the counter, towards Takeshi, as if trying to have a private conversation in the middle of the bar. "Yes?" Takeshi looked up from his bowl to see a rather nervous Toki, scratching his cheek, looking as if he was afraid of getting punched in the face. "Y'can crash here for a couple nights. Y'know, 'till it's resolved and all." The college student decided to offer somewhat reluctantly, being rather wary around people with a career in law enforcement. Pfft, you're just trying to get on his good side. Good man. Toki decided to ignore Glasyabo's antics, and added some fierceness to his gaze, trying to come across as entirely serious. He definitely didn't have ulterior motives, right? Keep dreamin', kid. "..." One of Takeshi's hands seemed to lightly grip the end of the counter before its fingers tapped the wood in a rhythmic faction, and his eyes squinted lightly, as he thought to himself. This kid was frequently mistaken for a common criminal, and chances were he actually was - he looked it, at least. Indeed, Takeshi wasn't one to judge a book by its cover, but there were way too many coincidences for it to be normal. And there wasn't such a thing as pure coincidence anyway. "...Gratitude." He eventually decided to say, with a nod. Toki sighed in relief, as if a tremendous weight had been taken off his shoulders. "I hope not to cause much trouble." "It's fine, dude, don't worry." At least the detective could now keep a close eye on Toki. |

"Yes, my work there is as an internship through the university." She kept quiet through the rest of her drink. As Detective Nakamura's conversation turned to finding a spot to spend the night she felt that the was something behind those words but it wasn't her place to pry. |

So it seemed that the problem was solved, and thanks to Toki's intervention even. Not that she ever thought little of the luckless young man, but that he'd step up and help like that despite his obvious aversion to police personnel raised her opinion of him a bit. With that settled, she could focus more on speaking with Laura. Small talk was…sadly not Maki's strong suit. "It's not a common field of interest, pathology. What sparked your initial interest in that field?" |

As another customer arrived, Toki excused himself quickly from the group with a clumsy bow, before going to serve them. Takeshi let his gaze follow the man suspiciously for a few seconds, before relaxing back in the stool, sipping his drink once again. "Would any of you like to switch seat?" The detective suggested, as the two women were talking to one another, and he was in the middle doing absolutely nothing, which he perceived as rude. |

Laura smiled. "It might be considered quite the long story since I've had the lifelong interest." Given that the exact details of her upriding required so much explanation and so few people could even follow it all. Not that she was ashamed of it anymore, as she kept thinking to herself, but it brought up the odd spanner in the works when such was story was reflected by her choice of career. "I began to follow it in high school but that was abroad." Another sip of her drink. "Oh no need to change, I'm fine." |

"Yes, I suppose I should." She stood and offered her seat to Takashi. "Apologies, that was a bit rude of me, wasn't it?" Though what were they discussing before? It was about Laura and her upbringing, right? "I suppose you have lead quite the life, then. " To lead her to that point? Either personal tragedy or a lifelong fascination with the macabre? Those seemed both the most likely factors to Maki. |

"More rude of me instead than anything. I didn't mean to be between you both as you converse." Takeshi was quick to switch seats, carrying his half finished drink along, and letting both women sit next to one another. You know, you should make some conversation. 'I don't know, I barely know either...' What do you have to lose? Well, Zagreus had a point there. The worst thing that could happen was having his wife barge into the bar and see him speak to two ladies, assume he's cheating on her with both, and kick him out... Oh wait. Since that wouldn't exactly change his situation, he decided to discreetly slide his way into the topic. "You were abroad?" He picked up on on what Laura had said before, displaying mild interest. "Where did you go, if you don't mind me asking?" Subpar, but doable. |

Another all knowing but not telling smile was left for the officer's last question. Laura briefly considered that the bar and nighttime atmosphere were perfect for telling her tales but not to people she was just getting to know better. Let alone that, on duty or off, they would still think like cops. "It was more that I was raised there and came here 'abroad.' I grew up in Sweden through high school. More agreeable climate." She twirled a pale finger. Not that it had been free of the typical cracks others made about those with her condition, not that Laura showed that she took much offense to them at this point of her life. |
