"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
June's hands clenched into fists, her nails scraping the pavement. She looked up, eyes blazing with anger. "Don't act like going on like nothing happened is an option," she growled. "I've been out on these streets, I know what people do to people like you. And how exactly do you expect kids like us to just pick up and move? If we could do that, we wouldn't need help from people like her."

The girl gritted her teeth, and moved to stand, placing one foot firmly on the ground.

"If someone decides the world's better off without one of us, who's gonna come help, huh?" she muttered. "The police, who don't even know what's what and look at us like we're dirt wads on any given day anyway? Or maybe one of those freaks playing at superhero on the rooftops, yeah I've seen them, probably more of you magic people, I'll bet--who else would be stupid enough to try saving the world..."

Up she stood clenching her hands at her sides, glaring at Yamada as if to tell the woman off for patronizing her. Nothing would be the same, nothing would ever be the same. And some kids on the streets talked like they'd love to have superpowers, but what good was that when it just put a big fat target on your back?

"Very well." It was flat, and matter of fact. She was done. Done trying to do what she could to make the most of a bad situation, and dealing with June in general. She couldn't simply leave until the little loose end of what was to be the fate of Noburu was dealt with, but her weapon was entirely unnecessary.

So she left, if only long enough to replace it, and bring her car closer to the motel. Afterwards she simply got out, stood in front of it and continued to wait. Her interest in further conversation was long gone.

Instead, she decided she needed a third party help, she contacted Shin via Bedlam.

A nondescript dark blue sedan pulled up next to the curb immediately next to the alleyway, blocking it off from the street. Shin Imoto, looking simultaneously well-dressed and very tired, emerged from the vehicle and locked it with the button on his keyring fob. He glanced at his phone and then looked up. He looked around until he spotted Maki and June -- a rather short operation considering how close he had parked to them -- and approached.

He looked at both of the women waiting near the motel. The police officer and the street punk. He had never interacted with Hollyfield -- the plan had been Yamada's idea, and Shin had a manner that screamed either "cop" or "yakuza" from a distance, though the latter was dropped very quickly when he approached. Either way, he most likely read as trouble to the young woman.

"Yamada," he said, by way of greeting, ignoring June for a moment. "I need to know exactly how bad this situation has gotten."

June remained where she was, leaning against the wall. She wanted to run after Benkei, help find Noburu herself, but she barely even knew the general direction of that place, let alone where or how to get in. She had no choice but stand here and wait.

It was maddening. It was unbearable. It was--

...Interrupted. June, tension almost at the boiling point, looked up sharply the moment the blue sedan stopped, and she flinched, pushing away from the wall, her stance immediately defensive. When the man in his professional clothing walked up, she felt an urge to shout Who the fuck are you?! before he even managed to say anything... but she restrained herself. For once in her goddamn worthless life, she restrained herself. Maki didn't seem to be hostile toward this man, in fact, she seemed to recognize him, so...

So she really didn't want to antagonize the people she was depending on to bring Noburu back to her, no matter how cathartic it might have been. Instead, she looked to Maki, and in a stiff, even tone, asked, "Who's this?"

She didn't say anything, twice she'd used her phone for what may as well have been texts for all June knew but other than this she remained passive and stoic.

"Good evening. It's unfortunate that we haven't met again under better circumstances." She broke her silence to greet Shin. After this, she had to

"This is Detective Shin Imoto. He's my direct superior and we been working together to deal with Sadako thus far."

So, with introductions done, she'd just have to summarize her failure thus far: "As I understand it, sometime earlier tonight, Sadako arranged for Noburu Nakano and his girlfriend to abduct Benkei Watanabe. At some point, there was an altercation with Sadako and Watanabe-san. She'd tried to flee by the time I had arrived. It was about this time that Nakano-san apparently was taken by the butterfly and I learned of her intention to blackmail Chika Nakadachi to escape, as I mentioned in our message."

The Inspector nodded to June, and then spoke to Maki again.

"Escape? She's going back to Osaka?" Shin asked, brow furrowing. He grimaced and removed his glasses before rubbing his forehead. "This is going to become a major headache."

Sighing, he thought for a moment.

"Have you put out an APB on Bedlam about Nakano?" he said. That was about all they could do on the issue. If this had happened when he wasn't working, he would have gone in after the boy, but it would have been rather obvious if he disappeared to deal with persona business while on the clock.

"Bedlam?" June echoed, her eyes snapping to the Inspector again. So this was the guy in charge. The guy who knew about all this, who was perfectly fine with his subordinates hiring street punks to handle criminal scum under-the-table, apparently. June's opinion of the man didn't even have to drop: it was instantly negative, she disliked him by default. Everything from the clothes to the mannerisms pissed her off.

That she was standing here sandwiched between two supernatural co-conspirators who might as well have been vigilante only made her hate the whole thing even more. But it didn't matter. Secrets didn't matter, ethics didn't matter--whatever the fuck Sadako had planned didn't matter.

The only thing that mattered was Noburu.

"What the fuck is Bedlam?" she asked, but not in a harsh voice--rather in the tones of one trying not to sound as harsh as she felt.

"Bedlam is a website used by Persona users in this city. One of it's functions is to allow to broadcast warnings of people who might need help with Ruins-related incidents, like when it is suspected someone has been taken to the ruins for the first time." Maki would have been irritated. She didn't even have that in her anymore. A calm, matter-of-fact explanation for something most people didn't even have to concern themselves with was less trouble.

Her attention turned to her own phone. "I have not. My main concern was contacting you. Having someone follow immediately after to render aid is a rare luxury in these sorts of events. You may if you think it's prudent to."

"Bedlam is --" he was about to say none of your concern, but Yamada beat him with a simple, matter-of-fact explanation. He was irritated by the girl's presence, but that was mostly because the situation -- like so many other ones -- was spiraling out of control and the fact that there was a westerner with green hair standing there squawking questions at them was just the current outward manifestation of that. He took out his phone, and began to type something, and then stopped, thinking for a moment.

"If Watanabe has his persona back, he can handle it. They can't be more than a level down," the inspector said. He slipped his phone back into his pocket. He had bigger concerns, and Benkei could handle the situation, he was going to guess. "I need you to summarize the interaction you had with Sadako. Is there any indication of what her next move is?"

If they could predict what she was going to do, then maybe they could interrupt her plans.

"Wait, you're not going to--?" June began to protest, looking frantically at Shin, but she stopped, cut herself off. Forced herself to shut up. Back off. To not be overemotional. Noburu was so good at that, and she couldn't figure for the life of her how he managed it all the time.

And so she bit her tongue again, clenching her fists and staying as still as she could, save that she was taking very obviously deep breaths, and staring at the ground.

Benkei... Watanabe, was it? You'd better bring him back okay...
