"What? No--"

He broke the bar. With the handcuffs. Benkei Watanabe had broken the bedframe with the handcuffs, and then he was free. Nishiyo's hands fumbled at the motel door behind her, but she couldn't rip her eyes away. His Persona. It was back, he could use his Persona--oh, jeez, she hadn't--

Whatever mental block had been keeping him from using it--

"--you--stay back--! I'm not dying yet, I won't die yet--"

Her mask, the black hood and face covering, both appeared over the girl's head. Diabound burst into being between her and him. The door slid open behind her and she threw herself out into the balcony outside. Diabound, the half-humanoid, half-cobra graverobber spirit, thrust one muscles arm out, opening its hand and casting Mudo, blasting Benkei with dark energy.

"You're dead on your feet, you just don't know it yet."

The Mudo had him prepare for the worst. But instead of debilitating, enervating pain, he barely felt it. His mind reacted quickly. If she had the chance now, she probably would have managed to slither away.

She did make a major mistake leaving her Persona exposed. He tried to capitalize with a swift strike, each rapid blow was aimed at the snake section of her Persona. Injuries sustained by Personae were inflicted in corresponding places on their user's bodies. If she had a pair of broken legs, she wouldn't have gotten far…

Despite his best efforts at fine aiming, most of the blows rained down and tore apart the door and wall besides and behind Diabond. That was fine, he only needed one or two solid hits on it's 'legs' for his purposes.

Nishiyo spun and sprinted along the balcony, toward the stairs, the moment she was clear of the motel door. She hadn't planned on leaving her Persona to linger, and when she saw through Diabound's eyes that her dark magic hadn't had much of an effect, she knew that her only form of defense was useless. He had a resistance to it--a resistance, a--

But, she wasn't fast enough; though the graverobber spirit flickered away the moment she let go of her focus on it, it still caught the first strike on the snakehead, and Nishiyo felt the blow keenly in the worst possible place--her ankle. She let out a yell as she felt it twist and bend in a direction it really shouldn't have, and she stumbled through a step, catching herself on the railing at the top of the stairs before she could fall face-forward and tumbled on down.

"Dammit--dammit--not yet--not until I can drag him down with me--!" she growled out from between her teeth, holding a hand downward and frantically pumping Dia magic into her injured leg. With her Persona proving useless, Nishiyo willed her mask away with a sideways flick of her head, as if she were dislodging a bug from her nose. "Not yet, not yet--!"

Without a word, Benkei as in pursuit. He didn't run after her, but he pursued her nonetheless. First a bold orange glow of a Tarukaja spell, followed by another flash of a white Aura, his newly acquired Power Charge.

He was dimly aware of where they were. Given how Nishiyo wouldn't dare expose herself to undue danger, he doubted there'd be many other people around. And that meant he was free to attack her with his newly acquired Persona if that was the case. Otherwise? Well like he said, his bare hands would have been more than enough to finish the job.

He kept following her at an unhurried pace, he was waiting. The moment the Sukunda lapsed he'd easily have been able to close the gap. And then? That would have been it. He had no intention to make it painless or clean for her, but it dam sure was gonna be over quickly.

Nishiyo looked up, eyes wide with something that wasn't quite fear and wasn't quite anger either. It was simple urgency, simple, mechanical urgency. She could feel her leg mending, mending... and there he was, calmly walking toward her. This motel was cheap, quiet, the landlord was asleep and in this part of town, when someone heard a commotion outside their room, they were more likely to pretend they hadn't heard anything than actually attempt anything.

"So y'wanna kill me, y'wanna rip me apart and make sure I don't get away with it, is that it?!" she asked. "Believe it or not, I know exactly how you're feelin' right now! That's why I can't letcha have your revenge yet. I'm gonna get my own first, and you all're gonna help..."

There! Her leg was fixed--Sukukaja, Sukukaja--a flare of light surrounded her body, and her speed and perceptions heightened--

"There's only one person I wanna kill anymore--just one person--after that, after that, I don't care, I don't care anymore--"

And she was off, down the steps, at the middle landing, and then turning the corner where the stairs did an about-face halfway down. Her car was right there, right by the steps. As she ran, she pulled out her keys. Just this once, she had left the driver's side door unlocked, because she hadn't planned on staying any longer than it took to have a word with Benkei. Benkei, who wanted her dead.

Benkei, whose murderous rage suited her just perfectly but happened to be a bit troublesome right at the moment--

"As if I give a single fuck what you want." He planned to keep up with her with a blood simple method. He vaulted over the balcony and let gravity help keep him within striking distance of her. "Revenge? At this point it's about human garbage like your kind should just be wiped from the face of the Earth."

He was ready with a Fatal End. With all his augmentations and her relative frailty to physical he hoped it would reduce her to a bloody pulp. She was vain, so a closed-casket affair suited her just fine, didn't it?

"Stop, both of you." Maki Yamada apparently came out of nowhere behind Nishiyo. In truth, she used the same trick Nishiyo Sadako had. She sped right there as soon as she had her information from Noburu, parked not far and closed the rest of the way on foot. She was in civies. and that's why the weapon she had trained on the back of Sadako's head was her sawed off shotgun normally reserved for the ruins.

She assumed the worst, and was ready for a fight. "Sadako, drop the keys, and put your hands behind your head. Watanabe-san? She's not worth it."

Nishiyo stopped dead when Yamada arrived, stopped dead right at the bottom of the stairs between her car--temporary freedom--and the police officer who'd been lurking just outside. That police officer. That same police officer. Of course. It must have been pre-arranged. Nakano had come to that sushi bar intending to fuck her over. Ahaha... ha ha ha...

...If she had figured this out a few days sooner, Noburu would have been dead right now, along with his foulmouthed girlfriend and his obnoxious friend. But there was a gun trained on her head. Slowly, Nishiyo turned around, smiling, that same dead-eyed look on her face. She raised her hands over her head, one of them holding the keys, but she didn't drop them.

"Officer~" she said. "Funny how coincidences like this happen, right? 'Cause I'm sure this is totally a coincidence. But this is great! This is perfect. Benkei can deliver that message I gave him right now. It's an important one, too! It involves things that might suddenly find themselves in the hands o' random Taiyoutono students if I were t' just up and mysteriously vanish or, hell, even if I wound up in jail they would. Spicy stuff. Mm-hm!"

She tilted her head to the side a bit. "In fact, that message is why you're gonna let me drive away, I think. Very important stuff. Also very spicy. And your little spy kids don't know about it, neither. It's someone else I've put in charge o' that bit... someone a little more reliable than street punks, y'know."

Maki resisted the urge to pistol whip Sadako right where she stood. She glared obviously in no mood for games, she repeated. "The Keys, now."

But without taking her eyes off it, she asked the young man.

"What message is she referring to."

"You honestly think I listen to that bullshit this bitch spouts?"

"Quite convincing testimony." She said, flatly, clearly with no intention of letting her leave. "You seem to be mistaken, Sadako. You dictate nothing to me or anyone else. No amount of blackmail will change that."

Nishiyo's expression went flat, annoyed. She did not drop the keys.

"The photographs," she said dully, giving Benkei a chastising look. "The photographs that'll follow Chika Nakadachi around for the rest of her natural life if I give the word. Or, more specifically, if I don't give the word... get my drift, Officer-chan?"

The girl sighed, and tilted her head back.

"I was gonna use 'em t' keep my oh so wonderful husband in line after we married," she said regretfully. "But that's a wash now, ain't it? But--hang on." And with a grin, she looked back to the officer. "Do I needta explain what those photos have in 'em, or are ya actually in on that little slice o' this stuff?"

This time, Maki did not resist her urge to strike Nishiyo. She turned, only to have it revealed a moment later she was only gaining more leverage to try and drive the but of her gun into her gut with all her strength.

"In fact, I am familiar with that. I took her testimony that I believe put your meal ticket away for his crimes."
It was dangerous territory, but what other options did she have? Letting her just go was not happening

"I feel the need to remind you of two things, Sadako: I am here under no means of an official on the record capacity, and your contingency seemed to conveniently leave out were your mangled corpse discovered in a way that was obviously unrelated to anything but a random street crime. You follow this, yes?"
