"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Noburu hadn't had time to send a message to Yamada yet, not this time. It seemed like Nishiyo was wary of June and him for some reason--or maybe the stakes were just higher this time around, because instead of sending them to do the dirty work by themselves, she had opted to accompany them--drive them, even. The car was expensive-looking. When asked, Nishiyo had claimed it was an "apology present" from her former fiancee, whose past misdeeds had finally caught up with them... they would have to break off the engagement, but Katashi had just been so good to let her keep his personal car for a while, and to leave her with so much money, and it wasn't as though she'd blackmailed him for it or anything, although she might have borrowed the car without asking first but she was sure he'd understand~

It was another abduction, though. Noburu wasn't surprised, but he could tell June was more on-edge this time than last time. It was the dead of night, though, and Noburu was pretty sure no one had seen them haul the poor bastard in. If they had, all they would see was an inert bundle of stuff that vaguely resembled a folded-up camping tent, and for good measure, Nishiyo followed them up the motel stairs with a hiking backpack on her back. It was probably lighter than the "tent," though.

Now they were in the room, and unfurling the coverings. Noburu had the man's glasses in his pocket; otherwise he was exactly the same as he'd been when they'd caught him taking a shortcut through an alley by Matechi Street, save for the fact that he was unconscious.

Noburu had to wonder where Nishiyo obtained chloroform, that she was willing to use it so freely. Whatever the case, sneaking up on Benkei Watanabe had been easy--strictly in terms of actually doing it. There was a definite difference in kidnapping someone he knew, someone he had actually met and spoken with. Eri Charinko had been a complete stranger... Benkei was a step up from that.

It was... disconcerting.

"On the bed with 'im," Nishiyo had ordered, as soon as the door was closed. Noburu and June had followed the command without speaking. Knowing Nishiyo was a murderer was one thing, knowing she was Yakuza was one thing... seeing that strange, dead look in her eyes was another. The girl wasn't even trying to act jovial or innocent anymore, not even in jest.

Removing the blankets from Benkei took a bit of doing. Noburu hefted the man up, and laid him on the bed.

"Oi! Think fast!"

Noburu looked up, and saw a pair of handcuffs sailing through the air at his head. June let out an alarmed yelp; Noburu reached up and caught them with both hands, though this resulted in one of the cuffs swinging out and thwacking him in the nose. He let out a grunt and a swear, holding his face with one hand. Nishiyo stood by the door, setting the backpack down, which was now open, and rolled her eyes.

"Don't be such a big baby," she said flatly. "Sit 'im up and cuff both hands around the bedpost behind 'im..."

Noburu held out the handcuffs, and the girl with the green spiked mohawk took them, muttering under her breath, "Shit, would it have killed you to walk across the room...?" Noburu gave June a quick, sharp look, but she ignored it, and it seemed Nishiyo didn't hear, anyway. She was too busy pulling up one of the fold-up chairs at the side of the otherwise basic and unremarkable cheap motel room.

The bed's frame was made of metal--cheap metal, probably a fold-up contraption of some kind. Noburu removed his hand from his face, and scowled a bit when he saw that his nose was bleeding a bit--there was a small blotch of red on his palm.

Pulling Benkei into a sitting position, he held him there while June worked with his arms--maneuvering them around back so that they could both be cuffed together, with the chain of the handcuffs looped around one of the metal poles at the bed's head. Once this was done, they stepped back, sharing an uncertain glance between themselves.

"Good work, team!" Nishiyo said in a faux-cheerful voice, and a smile that didn't reach her eyes at all--they remained ice-cold and flat. Nishiyo set the chair down at the food of the bed, backwards, and then walked over to the hiking bag. From this, she pulled a pair of envelopes, and held them out. June and Noburu shared another look, and then slowly walked toward Nishiyo, the backpack, and the door.

"Here's your pay," she said. "Eighty thousand yen apiece for both of ya! And just as much later, if you're willin' ta do one more job for me... see, I toldya it wouldn't go sour with me here!"

Smiling, holding out the envelopes in both hands. Noburu and June took theirs in unison. And then June said, "Hell yeah we're up for one more if eighty thousand's the pay. Shit, I don't even need to look inside to tell how much there is in here..."

Noburu looked inside, and there it was, a whole eighty thousand. As he flipped through the bills he had to wonder why she was willing to give them so much for a single job.

"Well, show's over, you two! Off ya get!"

Noburu looked up sharply in surprise. "You want us to walk away?" he couldn't help asking. Nishiyo smiled wider, eyes still unchanging.

"Yep. Go get yourselves a good, hot dinner. I just need a private word with Watanabe-san over here, that's all~"

June moved toward the door, and opened it, meeting Noburu's eye as if to silently ask him not to press the issue. Noburu had no intention of doing so. He followed June out of the motel room without a backward glance, and shut the door. He heard it lock behind him.

Not looking back as he left was one of the hardest things Noburu Nakano had ever done in his life.

He had slowly regained consciousness. Before he realized his position, or his vision stopped just being a blur, what transpired before it came to that. He was just done with another fucking miserable day at the cafe. He was walking home and…

That's when the rag was forced before his mouth the cloying, sickly sweet smell. He held his breath for as long as he could, but his fingers had already began to go numb and his vision faded before he caught on. He knew at once it was chloroform, and who had called that. He had no intention to go quietly, but he was in a bad position one could only hold their breath so long whilst trying to reach behind themselves and throttle their assailant sight unseen. Besides, he wasn't just dealing with one person.

He wasn't surprised that when his vision cleared up he was face to face with her. From his position, he was thoroughly restrained. When he regarded her fully, his countenance was more of a snarl than anything else.

One always liked to think that in times like that, there was something glib or witty to say. Benkei wasn't especially glib, nor witty, so he had to settle for the response everyone else used.

"Go to hell, bitch."

"All in good time, Benkei! All in good time."

Those were Nishiyo's first words, when Benkei finally managed to clear his mind enough to say something. Nishiyo had been waiting patiently in the interim between Noburu's departure and Benkei's return to the world of the waking. The black-haired girl sat at the foot of the bed, her legs parted so she could sit and lean across the back of the chair. When Benkei had showed signs of waking, her lips had again curved into a smile that didn't reach her eyes.

Her clothing was simple, girly and simple, not at all . Her eyes were dead: the look she gave Benkei was a thousand-yard stare that would have made a cadaver envious. The only article of jewelry she wore was a single diamond ring on her right hand, which seemed almost pitiful compared to what she usually adorned herself with.

"Y'all went and fucked it all up," Nishiyo said in a vaguely cheerful voice. "It's all over for me, now. I'd rather die than go back, and y'all took my only way out away. So, I'll be goin' t' hell pretty soon, I imagine. But I just can't settle down until I've scratched the old itch! You know how it is. Sorta like a craving, except not. What can I say, it's just been... hammered inta me that hard! I can't let go. I've tried before, y'know? When I decided t' let Piglet go free, when I decided I wouldn't try and figure out where Amaya'd gone to. I tried t' just forget they even existed. I thought I even did for a while there, but life has a way o' fuckin' things up, don't it? The small victories just poof away and you lose again. Story of every drug addict's life."

Nishiyo's smile didn't fade, but she turned her eyes away from Benkei, to some random point on the wall behind him, as if staring out into some unseen plane, or perhaps into the world of memory.

"So, tell me, Benkei," she said. "Y'went t' Kiyoko's place, right? Or did I get it wrong again? Got it wrong before, y'know. Tried t' kill the wrong person! That's always a real tragedy, when they die and then y'realize they ain't even fucked with ya t'begin with. Deaths shouldn't ever be so meaningless, right?"

"Good." It was the only response he could have to her little sob story. "So long as it just gets worse for you, I'm satisfied." Well, some of his wit was coming back to him. That was something, so far he'd avoided death by chloroform over exposure and there was that.

He tried to force himself up and tear away from the bed frame, but he wasn't fully there, it wasn't gonna work. His body still wasn't cooperating with him.

"Shit, you do love hearing the sound of your own goddamn voice, don't you?" He did make that initial assessment of her. "Hell, it doesn't make any difference at this point does it? Still, I don't plan to tell you shit."

The broken, dead stare was met with Benkei's own. He was very much alive, inside and out, and full of fury to. "So what, you planning to talk me to death or what, bitch?" Given his position, it was the height of bravado to provoke her but he didn't care.

Nishiyo nodded simply, her smile not budging. She closed her eyes for the duration of the motion, but when she opened them, they were back on the wall again.

"I guess you'd say that, yeah. I did put a bullet in your fuckbuddy's head, after all. If it were me, why, I'd have tracked me down and cut me into tiny little pieces, put those pieces in three different bags, and dropped them all in three different ditches. How many ditches are there in this town, anyway... But yeah, I like hearin' the sound o' my own voice. It's a beautiful voice, and every day I thank the gods I didn't blow out my voicebox screamin' when dad threw me in that spider pit!"

The girl finally turned her eyes back to Benkei. She smiled still more widely, then.

"But, ya prolly won't die here. I actually don't wanna kill ya, first off," she said. "Second, I'm pretty sure a cop'll come along pretty soon t' letcha out! Probably one o' them Persona-user cops. Soon's Noburu gets far enough away that he sends a text t' whoever he's in contact with. He thinks I wasn't watchin', but I was. Heh, they musta been payin' him and his goon squad a good lotta money! And then the whole ruse with Charinko's mom turnin' into a Persona-user ta cover up him lettin' her get away. Classic."

Nishiyo chuckled a bit, and leaned back, brushing her hair out of her eyes.

"Good little trap, that. I'm almost tempted t' put his girlfriend's head on a stick and then his along with it, but... I don't care!"

She laughed, and for the first time, light and focus came into her eyes.

"I don't care enough t' do it!" she laughed. "I don't! I don't care! I! Don't! Care! D'you have any idea what that means, Benkei, do ya? I don't wanna kill those two! I don't! I don't! Ha! Haha! Hahahahaha!"

Nishiyo dissolved into peals of laughter, leaning back, then jerking forward when it looked like she might fall off the chair. In the end she threw herself over the back of the chair again, her black hair flopping over her face, hiding her from view like a shroud.

"I can say with all honesty that I do not give a single fuck." The punchline was lost on him, and that was a point of pride.

"Well, whatever you say you're the sociopath. Might as well have left you in the spider pit if you ask me." But there was more than just an opportunity to spit insults. "I suppose you wouldn't get why I was upset over Amaya's death. That's a bit much considering you nearly ruined her life." He knew the real reason why her brother died, and more than anything that she smiled in her face like she was still her best friend after she'd done that to him disgusted him the most.

"So, do what ya gotta do." Time, just a bit more time and he wasn't going to go down quietly, that was damn sure…

The girl waved Benkei off when he said he didn't care. When she looked up, there were little shining tears in her eyes, which she wiped away carelessly, smearing a bit of her eyeliner in the process. Then Benkei accused her of ruining her best friend's life...

Nishiyo's expression went blank at that. "Whatcha talkin' about? 'Nearly ruined her life?' Whatcha mean by that, eh?" she asked. "I'd never've done anythin' t' hurt Amaya never--not--back when I could--" Nishiyo's eyes crunched up for a moment, shifting from brown to skull-gray, then back to brown again. "...Back when I could actually trust her t'be on my side and recognize me when we pass on the street. And I told ya, dumbass, I don't wanna kill ya." She grinned. "This's just a message. To you, t' everyone else you're plottin' and schemin' with. By the time anyone else gets here, I'll be long gone..."

Nishiyo pointed behind the Benkei's back.

"...Those handcuffs, by the way! I have pictures o' what they were used for. Quite a few, actually! A few action shots with Katashi-kun's other toys, too. It's pretty spicy stuff, I gotta say. Deliver that message for me, wouldja? It's really important intel."

"Don't you fucking play dumb with me now, you bitch!" He snapped back. "You know damn well why her brother died, and Kyo Charinko's sleeping around wasn't much more than a convenient excuse was it? She was fucking obsessed with getting revenge with the person responsible and all the time it was against the wrong person."

He looked over his shoulder. He liked his chances of forcing the frame open.
"I'm not letting you get away, not now, you fucking realize, right?" With that he threw himself towards her. He grunted with exertion, and the bed leapt a foot in the air. Either he'd break the flimsy-looking frame, or if it came down to it, he'd sooner have the joints in his hand dislocate rather than having the bitch walk away after everything she'd done.

He thought it was enough that her smug little life of doing whatever she wanted to and getting away from it was over was enough. But it wasn't, if she thought she could just walk away, he'd not let her. "I'm gonna beat you to death with my bare fucking hands! Let's see what kind of message that leaves!" It wasn't uttered as a threat, but an oath. A promise.

He jerked his arms forward again, and again, he could hear the metal of the frame start to stress under his efforts, just a little more…

"I know why her bro died, what are you--"

Nishiyo cut herself off, yelping when the bed jumped. She leapt up, off the chair, back and to the side, skipping out of the way and waving her hand over Benkei, casting Sukunda on him, just in case. There was a look of genuine puzzlement on her face, then. She waited for Benkei's rage to play out, and then stood up, folding her arms over her chest and closing her eyes. "Wait, hang on," Nishiyo said. "Y'think... I killed Kazuhiko? What, just 'cause I was connected to her, or somethin'? What gave ya that..."

The metal was starting to strain. Nishiyo glanced back at the door, and then toward him. "Oh, for fuck's sake, calm down!" she snapped. "You'll only hurt yourself if ya keep that up. Whaddaya think you're gonna even do without your Persona anyway, eh?"

Nevertheless, Nishiyo was edging toward the door now. If it came to it, she would run. She'd gotten what she'd come for, after all: her ultimatum. Her message, her acknowledgement of their war declaration. And he didn't have his Persona. Physical weakness or not, he couldn't possibly beat her if it was just hand-to-hand. She was pretty well-trained... and--

--and if that bed broke she would be stuck in a room with a man who wanted her dead--

"Oi! I said stop!"

The point of discussion had long since passed. He was beyond listening to her demands, the Sukunda was only a minor irritant and not a true deterrent. At that point whether she was telling the truth or just another lie didn't even matter.

He jerked and pulled at it with all his might, her pleas for him to stop fell on deaf ears.

Just break her in two, let's get on with it!

With a last cry, the cuffs were forced though the now broken frame, even as his wrists ached. He was free free to pursue her to hell and make sure she got exactly what she deserved.

More alarming to Nishio probably would have been the lion's skull resting on his head, or the slowly materializing form of the large, angry stone man dressed in a Lion's skin.

Come on, come, on, come on! Enough time was wasted! Time to rip her apart already!

He felt a sudden boost in his abilities, a visible flash and he felt way stronger than before. It faded soon after he tore the chain links on the cuffs.

"You Fucked up now." He growled before he sprang forward. With every intention of making good on his previous promise to beat her to death.
