"Told you so. Oh look, he's touching you! Pretty damn hot isn't it? Then again, probably best if he hold you down while he burns you alive." For an instant, Jiro was more than willing to start swinging wildly at Naoya. He's sick he's sick he's sick he's sick. Not an Agi not an agi not an agi. Sick people got fevers. That's all it was, a fever. He madly repeated this in his head to ensure himself. It seemed to be working, for now. "Yeah but...how? I mean, I..." His voice hitched. "What am I supposed to do?" In that single statement. Jiro sounded more utterly broken than ever before. "How can I make up for this? I mean, Nakamura could have died and I...it would...fuck me." He let out another sob. For the first time ever, this Chariot lost its way. There was no clear goal in front of him now. No thing to absolutely pour his being into. |

Naoya's eyes grew unfocused as Jiro spoke, and around the time he began to legitimately sob, Naoya's head dipped forward and all of the air escaped his lungs in a slow leak. His eyes closed, cutting off the blue light. His head hung for a moment, and then slowly rose up, eyes closed. When he opened them, they glowed yellow, sparks of brighter light flickering into and out of vision within his changed pupils. Wherever Naoya's mind had gone, something else had replaced it. "Oh, it's you..." the changed Naoya said. His voice still came out in a croak, but it didn't falter as it normally did. The boy slumped, then stepped back, rising up to his full height, chest thrust out, arms hanging loose, as if heavily weighed upon by the bands about his wrists. "Oh...boo-fucking-hoo. Let me get this straight, you knifed a guy because his old man fucked your family up? Didn't you find out about this because the guy you knifed admitted that he was the one who gave the anonymous tip? Because he helped and acted like it was something to be ashamed of? Tell me, fuckhead number two, of the two people involved in this situation between you and stretch, who more closely resembles his old man, and who more closely resembles your big brother? Seems to me you've fucked up good and proper." The changed Naoya bounced on the balls of his feet, as if expecting Jiro to take a swing at him. |

What? Naoya's voice was wrong. The mumble was gone, the goodwill was gone, speech impediments didn't just disappear, even Kyo couldn't quite knock her own voice problems out of her speech completely and that wasn't even brain damage it was just a stupid accent problem-- --Peeking into the warehouse, Eri tried to make out what was going on, but there were too many obstructions in the way. She could hear them, she couldn't see, she couldn't-- Brain damage didn't just go away, voice problems didn't just go away-- Call for help. Now. Eri fumbled with her phone, typing out a message as fast and feverishly as she could, not bothering with grammar or punctuation, just trying to get the word out as fast as she could, and when she hit send, she released a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. But now there was nothing else to do. Nothing but to either go inside or-- --or wait out here, and let whatever was about to happen, happen. |

Jiro sat sobbing on the ground. His gaze drew itself back to Naoya as the boy began to speak without his speech problem. He stood, fist already clenched and cocked back as he was about to swing. Only to notice the yellow glow coming from the other boy's eyes. "Oh, what a neat trick! Too bad I don't have the sort of juice to pull that off. Well...I mean come on. I am your shadow. Therefore I am just about as scrawny as they come." Jiro shook his head but otherwise ignored his own shadow. No, his focus was on Naoya. "You...I know what you are. Don't try and think you can trick me. I don't give a shit if you're his pent up feelings. We're gonna work through this. So you can go fuck yourself. I'm not falling for any bullshit you're trying to pull here." There was no way it was Naoya, and there was no way it was Krishna. So it had to be his shadow. Finally, he had something he could use. A goal for him to achieve. Right now, it was getting this shadow to fuck off. "I ain't scared of you motherfucker. So why don't you crawl back into his subconscious so we can deal with you later." "Come on! Why's Naoya got to get all the attention? Is it because he's more important? Yeah, that's it. After all, it'll be worse if he Descends. They'd kill you in seconds." Naoya's body smirked, an expression that looked alien on his features, and he held out his hand, palm up. "Fine, but I'm not leaving until we've had a chat, fuckhead number two. I think you're being very unwise, here. If I wanted to hurt you, then I'd just burn you and then burn the woman waiting outside," he glanced back in the direction of Eri Charinko, his glowing eyes flickering in the darkness. Then, in a stage whisper, he said to Jiro, "fuckhead number one brought backup, you see." He settled down onto flat feet, and adopted a more relaxed posture. "What I'm trying to get at is this: why would I even need to trick you? What purpose would that serve? I get nothing out of that. I just want to talk, and you aren't going anywhere. You don't have to believe what I say if you don't want. I don't care if you live or die, if you prosper or perish, so what danger are you in?" He looked down, and pulled his phone from his pocket, reading it, then looked back in the direction of the entrance. "Really? You're so worried you sent out a blotter message? If you just asked, then I'd tell you what was going on. Why don't you come on in and say hello?" |

Eri couldn't help but admire Takenaka for a moment. Whereas she, perfectly safe outside and in her right mind to boot, had been so thrown off by the change, Jiro Takenaka had been able to adapt, to set himself on steady feet for his friends' sake, and even to put aside his own distress and confusion in the face of it. Her? She'd panicked, sent a distress message, and then contemplated cowering in the corner. The woman drew in a slow breath, and closed her eyes. Steadied herself. She needed to step in. Needed to help. Hearing the words fuckhead number one brought backup ignited something else, though. Indignation. That kind of slur on Naoya, coming from his own hidden self, even--she couldn't just sit there and let some kid talk about himself that way, could she? Then he called her. Yes, of course, he had a phone; he would have gotten the distress notice, too. Eri cursed herself for not thinking of it. She should have... should have gotten Naoya's uncle on the phone, or something-- Slipping her phone into her jacket pocket, Eri stepped into the doorway, walked into the warehouse... and then into view. "I'd hardly call myself backup," she said evenly. "I'm a housewife with a shovel and a driver's license. I'd say he brought a taxi cab, if anything." The woman's eyes narrowed, and she held herself steady, straight-backed and with her mind held out, ready to call her mask or magic to hand if the thing controlling Naoya made any hostile moves. "What are you?" Eri managed to ask without letting her voice quaver. "Are you his Persona, or his Shadow, or what? What do you want?" |

Naoya had brought back up. Naoya had brought a contingency plan in case he needed to kill him. "That's right. Seems as if your so called best friend can't be trusted." He was being layed into on all fronts. Two shadows were trying to convince him that Naoya was a threat. He couldn't believe that though. If he attacked him, it was all over. He'd be officially declared rogue and hunted down like a feral animal. "Yeah, so what? If the position were reversed, I would have done the same. You ain't gonna get me to start doubting him. So go ahead and spew whatever bullshit you're going to. Then fuck off." The contingency plan turned out to be a goddamn house wife. At least, she looked like a house wife. He replied to her while keeping his eyes locked in a stare with Naoya's shadow. "It's his shadow. Trying to think he's all slick and fuck over any chance either of us got of helping the other. Well guess what, your empty threats ain't gonna work on me. So I hope you say whatever you have to now. Because after this? I'm gonna be sure to make him Ascend, and then you'll be gone got it? Look me in the eyes, try and call me a liar." He didn't actually know if the shadow had any way of using magic. He assumed it didn't. Still the house wife needed to leave. Naoya was a heavy hitter, and if the shadow did have any sort of mojo. It could kill them both. The fiery determination was back in Jiro's gaze. He had something to work toward. Sure, ultimately getting rid of this thing was down to nobody but Naoya. Still, he was going to do whatever he had to that could ensure that it happened. Edited by Exodin, Dec 16 2013, 07:28 PM.

"Oh, now you display critical thinking skills," the possessed boy said, rolling his eyes. "You couldn't have done that before knifing someone who didn't do you any harm? ...Of course not. That's why you're fuckhead number two." The shadow moved Naoya's body, repositioning itself so that it could keep both Eri and Jiro in its field of vision, but with Eri placed between it and the entrance. It looked at her, and cocked the head to the side, smiling in what might have been an affable fashion if it weren't so clearly an affectation. "He's right. I'm Naoya's shadow. I'm the end product of a shrapnel-filled brain and a persona coming together. My senses aren't so good when I'm asleep...I just knew his heart rate was up, and thought it would be someone else, but I guess this is good enough...hmm..." Naoya's body turned back to Jiro, and the smile faded, leaving the face blank, neutral of all expressions and the subtle, twitching micro-expressions that made a face seem human and conscious. "But back to business. You're really doing a good job of just killing his trust in you, you know that?" it said. "You try to baby him, you go and pull shit like this...Hell, I'm the end result of every awful thing he's done, and I think you've fucked up." The shadow laughed in a fashion that indicated disbelief. "We -- he and I -- have suspected that there are some people for whom ascension is impossible. Congratulations. You're probably example number three. At least, that's what he's worried about. Why don't you press him on it when I let him out of his box. You'll find that I tell no lies." |

In truth, Eri wasn't really able to follow the Shadow's talk very well at all. But she understood what the monster was trying to do, the basic idea--it was trying to hurt Naoya through whatever would be said after this conversation, when the real him was awake, and when Jiro had time to calm down and think about whatever this meant about his relationship with the boy he'd trusted enough to call for help at his most vulnerable. Eri clenched her fists, narrowed her eyes, and said in a low voice, "If Naoya-kun doubts himself enough that you exist, why should it matter if he doubts Takenaka-san here? Of course he's going to doubt other people if he doubts himself. Takenaka-san, the boy you attacked is fine. Keep your head and stay calm. You... did something wrong, but no one is going to hurt you for it. I promise." She said this without looking at Jiro; she was unwilling to take her eyes off of the possessed Naoya. "You're trying to hurt yourself through your friends," Eri said in a flat tone. "Like my daughter's Shadow hurt her through hers. Because like my daughter's Shadow, you're just not making any headway pestering yourself inside your own head--so you need to make a spectacle of yourself, show yourself around. Is that about right, Shadow-san?" Where the hell was this confidence coming from? Eri couldn't say. But running wasn't an option so, what point was there in sounding scared? Moreover, this couldn't last forever. If she could keep the Shadow talking to her, that was less time for it to talk to Takenaka, less damage it could do before help arrive or the possession just wore off. And if it turned around and decided to burn her after all, then--then-- Then we fight, said the voice of Penelope, grim and determined. ...Then we fight, Eri agreed, with a different sort of determination: the determination of a woman who knew there was simply no other option to choose from. |

Penelope Kamina (Error) Krishna (Error: Reading mode A?=False) What any of that meant to Seiji? He had no idea. He guessed it meant that in a situation he was walking into the only person who had their head screwed on right was Penelope's user…that was Kyo's mother, wasn't it? At least that's what Hanako told him. He ran the whole way to the location indicated by the GPS, as Naoya and that fucking bastard Takenaka was there it was the right place. He had his Katana, he always carried it on the backstreets after the attack on the metalworks, and it was a good deterrent to get people to stay out of his business. "Sorry…I'm…late." He said, out of breath. "Came as…soon as I got the message" He stepped inside soon after Eri.. He hoped to do…something. Otherwise, why did he even bother coming? Still a fight was pointless so he didn't even bother bringing his mask out. The most effective was was talking, at least buying time until someone stronger came if it came down to That.
