"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Two vicious cuts to the monster's torso: Ami would feel distinct resistance when the blade hit, but the cutting power of the wind magic penetrated bronze flesh full-force, leaving deep gouges. The Beachcast Hero stumbled back... but then the Chilling Spook spun in the air, orienting the bottom of its balloon body toward Ami, firing a Single Shot with another sharp, almost gun-like pop.

Toru waved Ami off, gritting his teeth and nodding--he was alright, he just needed healing, and fortunately he was one of those capable of that: Holding out his hand, he took a moment to gather his power and then released a focused wave of light healing--a Media spell--over himself and both of his allies. "I'll be fine!" he managed to say in a slightly-choked voice, once he felt the magic start to ease the pain he felt from the strikes that had landed on his Persona. "Don't worry about me, I've endured far worse! Protect Charinko-san!"

Eri felt the magic, too... the cold didn't exactly vanish, but it felt as though it were pushed out of her skin. In the next moment, she understood--some of her flesh had partially frozen, and the magic had mended that...

--The knowledge that she had just suffered that kind of injury filled her with a strange combination of fear and anger. It was like a defibrillator shock to her brain, and snapped her back to full focus. Penelope appeared again, this time casting its Gry magic on the Chilling Spook, dragging the balloon-like thing downward, toward the ground, and at the same time pulling its balloon-and-sheet body inward on itself.

The spell released, but that was when the Beachcast Hero flexed again. More viciously than before--and this time, it produced a different effect. Instead of Distress magic, a logo floating in the air behind it, glowing yellow like a neon sign:

HERO OF THE BEACH

Toru, who had been about to fire a gunshot to finish off the Spook, tensed, turning his gun on the Beachcast Hero and firing. The bullet impacted its chest, directly above the heart, but did little more than dent the bronze. As the Gry spell ended, the Spook hovered back up in the air, swaying as if dazed by the pain of Eri's attack.

Ami took the blast head on, stumbling as the icy magic slammed into her body. Shivering, she barely heard Toru's response to her concern, though she eventually gave a slight nod and moved in between Eri and the beachcast hero as it suddenly seemed to power up.

But.... the chilling spook was a more tempting target. So, raising her hand, the girl focused on it, keeping an eye on the beachcast hero, ready to get in its way if it tried attacking the older woman. "Wind!"

Once again Leanan Sidhe manifested and sent a torrent of wind towards the enemy, though this time it was at the chilling spook rather than the more powerful foe. Probably best to make it three versus one rather than three versus two really.

Ami's wind spell ripped into the Spook, blasting it backward, catching its sheet like a parachute and pulling it violently backward. There must have been some element of sharpness to the way the air moved, though, because a moment later there was a loud POP and the balloon beneath the sheet burst. Both it and the sheet fluttered the ground, and began to dissolve...

And then the bronze-skinned bruiser ran forward, charging toward Ami with suddenly a lot more speed than it had previously had. Also with a lot more power; it wound back its fist and swung, and Toru was unable to intercept with his own Persona this time--

"GET BACK!" shrieked Eri.

As Toru struggled with his bum leg, Eri rushed in front of Ami, placing herself between the girl and harm--if the punch were allowed to hit, it would strike Eri full in the jaw...

As the shadow rushed her, Ami calmly sheathed her blade in a quick motion, holding out her hands in an almost "come and get me" motion, still unsure of her ability to dodge properly as her mind was still a little muddled. Only to suddenly widen her eyes as Eri screamed at her to get back, and made to spring past her. Suddenly the girl was more able to focus once more. "no." She dashed forward herself, barely any time left to get in the way of the blow, and jumped right in front of Eri at the end of her desperate dash to protect the older woman.

The girl took the blow right to the face, head flinching backwards slightly despite herself as she did her best to push Eri away slightly. But still no pain as she absorbed the effects of the blow and managed to land quite adeptly in between Eri and the shadow, not even disoriented from the blow.

"Wind." Another blast of wind at the shadow as she gestured and spoke, her offhand still facing Eri in a gesture meant to ward her off.

"I nullify physical attacks. Please do not try that again. Please Charinko-san? I was told to protect you, so I am."

Eri found herself at a loss--totally and completely at a loss as Ami did the precise opposite of what she'd told her to do, and jumped in front of her instead, pushing her back, taking the Beachcast Hero's fist full in the face and barely budging at all. Then, a blast of wind. The Beachcast Hero sidestepped, evading a direct blast to the chest, but catching it in the left side all the same. The monster stumbled through its sidestep and then changed course--this time rushing toward Toru.

"Oh, no you don't--" the journalist snapped, for he had already leveled his revolver. Squeezing off two shots, he managed to put one, and then the other, directly into the Shadow's chest, first slowing its charge and then driving it back a step. Eri looking frantically from Ami to the Shadow, and then summoned Penelope, who lifted a hand and cast another Gry spell, creating another mini-singularity, pulling the creature's center of gravity sharply inward, holding it in place and damaging it still further in one swoop...

[my apologies regarding the wait and shortness of this.]

Ami saw the opening, and took it, once again sending a blast of wind at the weakened shadow with a word and a wave of her hand.

Alright, Eri seemed safe enough, and was seemingly able to momentarily slow the shadow, and
Toru was obviously inflicting SOME damage on the creature. "So it isn't invincible, just stronger. Just a few more attacks? I hope." Hrmm, hopefully she wasn't being too confident. Eh, people acted differently in a fight sometimes, she could probably go back to being a bit more shy again "once the adrenaline wore off" or something.

And the Beachcast Hero, already staggered, took that Garu spell straight in the chest, bowling it over and onto its back. It slammed its hands onto the ground, and struggled to push itself upward, to sit, to get up--

But it couldn't get up. Eri's Persona held aloft one hand, and directly overtop of the Shadow, a semitransparent orb of distortion materialized.

"Urgh..." Eri grunt, struggling to hold it there, and then, and then--

Penelope swept its hand downward and the gravity orb shot down, through the monster, slamming it down into the ground hard, first by the front ribs and then by the spine. The Gry spell's impact sent the monster's limbs splaying out to all sides, its chest partially caved in. It looked on the edge of death.

Toru kept his gun trained on the monster, but didn't fire. Bullets cost money to replace, after all...

Ami watched in surprise as Eri's persona basically used the shadow as a chew toy, slamming it down against the ground and severely injuring it, but realized it wasn't quite down yet.

Her hand slid over to the handle of her sword, and she leaped forward at the downed shadow, drawing it in a fairly powerful horizontal slash. "Come on..." Even if her attack didn't do it, the shadow definitely seemed to be almost done despite its buffs. Three on one tended to do that sort of thing in a fight.

And the young girl's strike swung true. Even with Rakukaja, even with its innate resistance, the Beachcast Hero could not survive a clean cut to the neck. It wasn't beheaded, however--instead its throat was slashed open, and it lay squirming on the ground, clutching at its severed windpipe... squirming... squirming...

Eri, who had been at the point of preparing a final gravity spell, faltered at the sight. There was no blood, and in fact the Beachcast Hero wasn't leaking any sort of life essence at all just yet--it was simply cut open like a fruit, and obviously suffocating because of it.

She felt a strange combination of revulsion and amusement at the sight. Penelope blinked out like a shut-off television set.

And then the Beachcast Hero moved no more. It melted, and then--it burst like a balloon, splattering gooey Shadow-stuff several feet in all directions. Eri let out a cry and leapt back. Toru, who was already some distance away, didn't have to move to avoid the spray. He simply sighed, and held up a hand, casting a wave of Media over the group.

"Well, then," he said. "Do the two of you feel up to another fight, or would you rather quit while you're ahead?"

Eri, looking down at her shirt, which was speckled with black, looked to Toru the Media magic was a relief, to be sure. But at the same moment, she felt something... shift in her mind, and knew she had a new power. Gingerly she held up her hand and cast her own healing spell on herself, her very own Dia magic, relieving the last of her injuries.

"...I think I can stand a little more," she said, with only the barest trace of uncertainty in her voice. "I just--I have a new spell now--"

And before she could say any more, she looked back at where the Beachcast Hero had died. In the suddenly clean circle in the center of the drying black stain on the floor, there was a curious spoil of war: a small, revealing, leopard print speedo, covered in sand and full of the stuff.

And as luck would have it, just Ami's size.

Ami carefully approached the dropped swimsuit and carefully slid the tip of her blade underneath the garment to lift it. Sand scattered out from the movement in a slight shower, and she was struck by the thought that it was indeed, just about hersize.

Blushing profusely, she flicked the suit off the length of metal and left it on the ground. Backing off a bit, she sheathed her sword and considered Toru's question.

"Well, I guess if Charinko-San wants to go on, we can. I... Also got a new spell. lets see... Do we want another group around the same size?"

"Analysis." She started scanning the area as she asked the question, paying attention to both the responses, and nearby shadows.
