"Right I...think this is a map?"

He pulled the document out of his pocket and handed it to her, still walking forward. He let out a groan. Completely losing whatever fueled his magical energy was definitely not an enjoyable experience.

A map with words you cannot understand. Once again, you prove how useless you are. You couldn't even protect this girl next to you. Even if at your full strength. You are too weak to do anything. You are a liar. You are..

His shadow continued to list the ways Daichi had screwed up. He scowled and did his best to ignore it. Wait...if this was happening to him. Maybe the others were being tormented as well?

"Hey uh....is your shadow...messing with you at all? Because Michael's gone quiet and my shadow's chattering away instead."

I'm the best! I'm the king of me! I'm gonna eat chips out of the garbage!

When Ryouta entered the room, Manabu's wails suddenly stopped, and his eye swung toward him. He stared at him, mouth held open, completely silent, for a good moment. That was Ryouta. Ryouta, who had found him in the ruins the first time he'd been like this. Who'd destroyed his eye. Who'd comforted him in the hospital while he recovered. Who'd dated Kira. Who'd made things awkward in the cafe that one time. Who'd broken up with Kira. Who'd defended him when Kaji could have easily killed him. When he could have easily left him for dead after learning the truth. He'd chosen to believe in him then.

No one ever believed in him. There was Kira, who'd given him lodgings even though she knew the truth about him and what he'd done. There was Kogane, who had helped him escape his father's home the first time. There were Kumori and Treo, his comrades in research, though he doubted they knew the whole story of his sin. And then there was Ryouta, who had taken a nearly fatal blow for him in the past.

He guessed he could add Kyo to that list now. A whole six people who believed in him and wanted him to shed his skin and return to the cruel outside world.

Manabu gave one last wail, and with it, the armor began to fall away from his body, clanking to the ground shortly before they dissolved into a black mist. The tongue went the same way as the armor, fading away and leaving Manabu very human in the middle of the floor. He lowered his hands and then fell over, landing on his side against the floor. His cheeks were stained with tears, and he seemed to be choking back sobs.

Kaede arrived on the floor just as the Qlippoth fired an Agilao at Kakeru. Her eyes widened as she saw it, and then she quickly had to look away as she felt her eyes begin to ache. What the hell was that thing?! No, wait, she was supposed to be holding this thing off so everyone could get out.

"Skadi!" she called as she put her mask on. The Persona appeared and fired a Bufudyne at the Qlippoth.

Ryouta was certainly relieved to see that he wouldn't have to fight Manabu while the boy was in that state. He ran over to Manabu, knowing that Kyo would probably be fine on her own for a moment. Crouching down, he placed a hand on Manabu's shoulder, unsure of whether or not he'd be able to provide any comfort at this point.

"You did it Manabu. It's gonna be ok now. Let's get you out of here." He offered his hand and shoulder for the boy to lean on. There was still the matter of the powerful Shadow the others were facing, but they were in no position to leave Manabu on his own.

-insert something witty here-

The attack from the Qlippoth managed to hit Isoroku, but she managed to lessen the impact by propelling herself backward using her wind. She hissed in pain as she blocked the fiery fist using both her arms, and both her forearms were burned as a result. There was also the sudden appearance of Kaede, who showed up in the nick of time to launch a Bufudyne towards the Qlippoth.

Somehow, Isoroku could feel something weird from the Qlippoth. She had to look away due to the discomfort that the Shadow caused. She took her chance to heal herself as Kakeru launched his own attack.

"Tsukuyomi-no-Okami,"
Kakeru summoned his Persona, the Shinto god of the Moon. With that, he launched a Mind Charged Bufudyne towards the Qlippoth. He didn't fire Megidola because he might end up destroying the area, which might harm the other two with him.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Kyo had to will herself not to flinch at the final wail--she honestly wasn't sure whether Ryouta's arrival would help or hinder the situation. But it turned out, it was a help: the Monster Form's armored coverings started to fall apart, to the ground, and in the end Manabu was left on the ground, laying on his side. Kyo let out a great, gasping "Ha!" of victory, and broke out in a run, jogging to Manabu's side and dropping to her knees in front of him.

Her smile flickered when she saw the tear-tracks on Manabu's face: it reminded her a little too poignantly of the state she herself had been left in after her first experience in Monster Form. Fortunately her Monster Form was an exception in one or two ways: none of the other Persona-users had to worry about the indignity of being left in their underthings when the transformation wore off.

"I toldja y'had it in ya," Kyo said simply, the smile returning to her face. Then, the smile faded. "I know more or less how you're feelin' now, but we needta move pretty soon. I think--"

Kyo felt at her front-bottom jacket pocket, checking for vibrations from Death's Compass. As she did this her right hand fell away from her eye, but she kept the lid tightly closed... for now. Color aside, she had a feeling it would be irritable for a while.

"I think we got some time before the Reaper shows up, but I don't wanna tempt fate," she said. "Ryouta, can ya help Manabu up? I'll phone in and check on how the others're doin'." Glancing at the stairs, she added: "...Daichi and Hanako haven't come up the stairs yet..."

Kyo gave Manabu a light clap of the shoulder and stood up, then pressed the call button on her radio.

"Oi, Rio! Manabu snapped himself out of it, how's everyone else? And have y'managed ta work out that freakshow's weakness yet? It can't be that hard, can it?"

Her eyes passed over the map and everything that it was said.

"Oh, well, I think you did good Daichi." It was said happily, or as much as her exhausted self could get. "I am not like, sure but I think you got one of the important documents we're on the look out for?"

"Hmm? Shadow?"
She shook her head. "No, not since…the hospital. Honestly? I don't even have Medusa up there, not for a week…" That was the price of Armored form, no Persona at all for an entire week. Was it understood why that was the case?

"Matsushita-san? We're coming up. I'd appreciate it if you could direct us away from any trouble and to meet up with help?"
There was a lot that happened that was hard to explain, but she suspected that Daichi's problem with his shadow was the Qlippoth's doing. "Come on Nakamura-san, let's go wait for the others outside."

They had their own maps, so it was simple as walking towards the nearest entrance and listening out for Rio's advice. She certainly hoped so 'cause they were helpless against anything more than that.

Best Influence.
Click: "Look, Charinko, I've never seen anything like this. Its weakness doesn't match any element I know, and it isn't a tier thing. The issue isn't power and it isn't kind. How many other ways are there to differentiate spells, because I'm drawing one big motherfucking blank."

---

The Bufudyne speared straight through the Qlippoth and it collapsed, a knee-high wave of black shadow-stuff washing down the hallway in either direction. The mask dropped into the middle of it, floating for a moment.

The shadow-stuff dried out, turning from tar to a dust, and then dissipated. The mask sat upon the ground, and then rose up on a column of the same intense clarity that had composed its body previously. The column then began to differentiate, growing limbs and solidifying into the same humanoid shape.

---

Click: "If you head up the stairs and go left," Rio said, "you should meet up with Kaerunuma, Charinko, and Endo. Kaerunuma is coming out of it, so if you can move slow and quiet, things should have calmed down by then. Kagami and Mayoi are dealing with the big bastard. Bring me the document. Fast."

He'd done a good job? He'd done a good job. He'd actually helped fight off the Qlippoth and he'd even found some sort of document!....this made him happier than he probably should have been. In that moment, Daichi had a tiny moment of self realization. He was like a dog. Always wanting treats, or to be called a 'good boy'. Well, of course not exactly like that. Still it was odd, finally having some sort of understanding about it.

"Right, okay let's go up. Check on sensei and get Matsushita-san this document."

He'd leave it to the more intelligent ones to figure this all out. For now, he began to walk up the steps. Taking slow, measured steps.

"It's Hanako and Daichi! Not hostile!"

I'm the best! I'm the king of me! I'm gonna eat chips out of the garbage!

Manabu flinched away from Kyo's hand as she clapped him on the shoulder, relaxing only slightly when he realized it was only meant in jest. He put his arm around Ryouta's shoulder and leaned against him, hissing in pain as he stood. His entire body ached. He took a moment to steady himself, leaning on Ryouta's shoulder as he tried to get his legs to stand right.

"Someone needs to... nnn... someone needs to go back and get my bag," Manabu said in a low voice. "We can't just leave it... down there... there's explosives. Don't want anyone coming across those on accident..."

As Rio's voice came through the radio, his mind began to whir. It didn't have a normal weakness, but it wasn't a tier related issue. There was something they weren't thinking of... some unknown element, something he couldn't pinpoint. He closed his eyes. It had attacked him with people he'd wronged in the past... it could teleport, it couldn't be killed normally... He squeezed them shut. There had been something... his memory was fuzzy, but he'd felt something change halfway through the fight. It was like everyone's Personas had been muddled. What was it?

He pawed for his belt, eventually touching the radio. He pulled it from his pants and lifted it to his mouth. "Matsushita-san... I think we need people who can cast fusion spells. That thing attacked me with people I've wronged. If it's drawing its power from human strife, then maybe we need people with good relationships to fight it..." He shifted his position against Ryouta's body, and he winced again.

And then suddenly, Daichi's voice from behind him. Manabu's eyes bugged out and he whipped his head over his shoulder, only slightly relaxing as he saw who it was. He closed his eyes and breathed slowly. In and out.

Kaede was nearly barreled over by the sudden wave of black Shadow stuff that rushed at her legs. As it dried out, she braced herself for the Shadow to strike back, and was completely unsurprised to see it rise up again.

"Shit," she said. She turned toward Kakeru and Isoroku. "Hey! Lovebirds! Keep up the attacks! I'm gonna try and slow it down!" Skadi appeared behind Kaede once more before casting a Masukunda on the Shadow and disappearing once more.

"I'll get him out of here. K-Kyo-san, if you think you're well enough you should help the others. If not there's no shame in resting for a minute or two..." Ryouta said, making sure he had Manabu well supported on his shoulder.

"I'm gonna try and keep a quick pace, ok?" He told Manabu, hoping that the two of them would make it outside in good time. The Shadow the others were fighting seemed to be giving them a hell of a lot of trouble.

"W-wait, bombs?" Ryouta asked. He would have asked just where exactly he got the bombs, but Manabu was injured and exhausted mentally. Better to not give him any trouble. They'd just have to make sure those bombs got properly removed...
