"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
|
Not hostile. Something had him afraid--maybe the scream, or--or maybe he'd sensed something with his power that wasn't there before. With luck, maybe that meant help was on the way, but--but was she getting through? She was getting through! She was helping. If she just kept talking, kept talking, then maybe... "Ah... agh--!" A wave of something pulsed in Kyo's body, and she swayed backward, almost falling into the wall. She felt her wounds closing up, and her eye--her--her eye-- She knew that feeling. It was regeneration. Her eye was growing back. Her eye was growing back. Mojo Wire. Healing, that meant--help was here. Bringing a hand up to cover her eye, she covered her regrowing eye. It was not pleasant, regenerating body parts was a weird experience and the eye in particular was one that didn't like being grown back. "Shit," she said. "Now I've lost both, y'know? And--" And it's going to be yellow again~ singsonged the voice in her head. "...And it's gonna be yellow again," she said in a disheartened voice. "I just know it is, just like the last one. It's like a symbol o' shame, y'know? Like, I can't get away from who I was, I just--even if I don't do it no more...Shit, why am I sayin' this..." She shook her head, and set her feet more firmly under her, but held her hand over her eye. It was ugly, it felt weird. Her left eye, shadow-yellow, was fixed on Manabu's. "That healin' comes from the Mojo Wire. It means friends are here. Friends. And if it's growin' back my eye, it means they're strong enough t' beat back that weird thing that did--whatever that was. We can calm down now. We can feel safe. We ain't gonna die. Y'don't needta hurt yourself. Manabu, please don't hurt yourself..." Kyo took one tentative step further. "Y'can break out on your own," she said. "I've seen it done. Y'can control yourself. Y'can break outta that form. Even if ya think you're a screw-up, even if ya are or were--I don't know what those people mean t'ya, but I know seein' 'em and feelin' 'em hurt ya musta hurt in more ways than just--" Her voice choked. "--than just feelin' my mom smack me inta next week, in my case. Or bein' shot at by a friend I all but stabbed in the back." Psh. There you go. Projecting. Because you're too fucking DENSE to look at your own stupid self, you have to copy and paste all your problems onto other people... "It's--not that different for you, is it?" Kyo asked. She didn't bother responding to the voice. It was right, wasn't it? She still didn't take more than that one small step forward. "But whatever it hurts like or however afraid y'are, y'can do right this time. Y'can win this time. Come on, Manabu..." |

Her back was against the wall and she didn't know what to do exactly, but giving that thing free reign to do what it wanted was out of the question! Just a bit more, follow "Shit! Not now!" But despite her wishes, that was the extent of her ability, meager. Feeble. The armor came off in a shower of scales that clattered to the floor and vanished soon after. Her center of gravity was off, and so when she needed it the most, both her ability to protect herself with the armor or with just evading went with the last of her abilities. The Agilao spell hit her dead on. It was a bit depressing that she was starting to get used to the smell of her own burning flesh, but there she was. A bigger concern was the Qlippoth was getting away. "No…get back here, you son of a bitch!" She only noticed her injuries were gone after the fact, when she got up to her feet. She stood up and took out her knife. Useless against that thing b out the best she could muster. She expected it to appear back any moment… …nothing. She got her Radio and called Rio. "Nakamura-San and I are alright, but that thing got away from us, it's not going after Kyo and Manabu, is it?" |

The hama left another yellowed patch on the Qlippoth, and it seemed weakened, but not exactly terribly wounded by it. "It's on the move again!" Rio squawked into the radio. A wave of vertigo passed over Hanako and Daichi, as well as Kakeru and Isoroku, before the shadow emerged into view again. It burst through a doorway right behind Kakeru and Isoroku, boards splintering and the wall crumbling. A cloud of dust choked the hallway, but the shadow remained unobscured: a two-meter-tall hole in the world, a patch of razor-sharp clarity visible through even the choking fog of dust. It silently turned to regard the two, and the original exploration team could hear through their radios: "It's got some monster re-energizing capability. Every few minutes it gets back up near full. Don't get into a battle of attrition with this thing. See if you can converge on it and overwhelm it long enough to get away." |

With the Hama. He felt drained. He tried to call up an Agi, only for nothing to happen. "Shit, i'm out!" Well what the fuck were they supposed to do now? Then, a second wave of whatever caused him to feel like hurling hit. He leaned against the wall and shook his head. "Hanako we gotta...gotta go. There's people coming. Third tiers? They can do this. All we've got is a sword and a knife. Which don't work, let's leave it to them." Do not attempt to justify yourself. Admit that you are useless. He stopped leaning on the wall. Looking to Hanako for an answer. If she refused? No way he would just leave. Either he left with the people that mattered to him, or not at all. |

The healing wave washed over Manabu at the same time it did Kyo, and his body stiffened as his broken ribs began to set on their own. He released his arm and the wounds he'd inflicted began to seal on their own. Someone was healing him. Who? Who was it? He didn't sense anyone down there with him. All he sensed were people above and people below and people to the sides of them. But no one in the room, no one but him and Kyo. It couldn't have been to help him. They just wanted to build him up again so they could tear into him later. He looked back up toward Kyo as she began to talk about her eyes. She'd lost them too. She was like him. And when they grew back, they came back shamefully yellow, unlike his, the one he'd never let be healed. His single eyeball remained fixated on Kyo as she talked. When Kyo finished, there was silence for a few moments until finally, Manabu threw back his head and wailed, pressing his palms to his face as he did so. The tentacles on his back seemed to finally be calming down with his wails, and they fell flat against his back, unmoving. However, the armor was just as solid as ever, and his tongue still lolled from his mouth, and the eyeball still continued to move around and look at the area. Once she was done casting the Diarahan, Kaede turned toward the entrance. "Alright, I'm gonna head down and rescue Creep-chan. I think Endo can handle Frogface." And without further ado, she ran through the ruins entrance into the building. Edited by FirebreathFishslap, Dec 19 2013, 01:09 AM.

"Kyo-san! Manabu-san!" Ryouta cried out as he came across the two. The situation didn't appear to be stellar, but at least no one was dead, right? Probably. He ran up to Kyo, though his gaze was firmly fixed on Manabu, who had clearly succombed to his monster form. "Kyo-san, are you alright?" Ryouta asked, trying to asses the damage. She didn't seem to be gravely injured, and Kaede had probably already helped somewhat with that. "Manabu!" He then turned his attention to their frog like friend. "Manabu it'll be alright. Let's get you out of here; then we can talk about whatever you want, for as long as you want. We'll be with you for as long as you need. B-but we need to get out of here first." |

Both Kakeru and Isoroku could feel the wave of vertigo before the Shadow showed up right behind them. Thanks to Isoroku's Sukukaja, they were able to react to its sudden presence in the nick of time. Because damaging it bit by bit wouldn't work, the only way was to attack it relentlessly, giving it no chance to recover with devastating attacks. "Alright, make sure it doesn't escape," Kakeru told Isoroku and the part-time model nodded. Both Persona-users put on their masks and summoned their Personae. Kakeru cast Mind Charge on himself to amplify his magic attack while Isoroku launched a Garudyne on the Qlippoth. |

Kyo felt the magic healing her eye cease to flow. Tentatively, she lowered her hand and pressed down on her newly-regrown, closed eyelid. It didn't feel quite right. The unfocused healing probably hadn't repaired the inner workings of her eye as focused healing would, but there was indeed a complete eyeball under there, and it seemed the chipped bone and skin near her temple had healed as well. Manabu was calming... Kyo felt a wave of relief, but then, footsteps: she tensed, and before she even saw who it was that entered, she held a hand out toward that side and said, "Don't attack 'im! I think he's close t' gettin' himself out o this--" But then she turned her head to look. Of course, Ryouta had come in from the direction of the exit, which was to Kyo's right, in other words, her blind side. When she saw him, she froze. Him. Ryouta. Now. Ha. Ha ha ha. Narrative convenience, not so much, but narrative irony, oh yes, narrative irony. She had just lost her eye because she had kept this very boy's part in things a secret... A fitting punishment, wouldn't you say? Or maybe you should just stop making friends with little girls who use big-boy guns, heheh... funny, though. Didn't know Suzume ACTUALLY HAD A RIFLE, though, that's new... why don't you stab her in the back again and warn this loser what he's in for once we're out? Kyo acknowledged him for only a second before focusing on Manabu again. "C'mon, Manabu-dude, I know you've got it in ya," she said. She kept her hand over her right eye, and kept it firmly closed. She really didn't want to confirm whether or not this eye had changed color like the first one, not just yet. |

"We're leaving now." She said, to Daichi and over the radio. A struggle for what? Nothing? That was how it looked like to Hanako's perspective. Not that she was upset or shocked: She came into the ruins expecting a disaster. That seems to be exactly what she got. "So then, if it's gone, what was it you were planning to show me before…?" It was far enough away that they could think of escaping, and others were coming to deal with it. If he felt it was important enough to talk about in the middle of a fight then they might as well have worried about it right after, as far as Hanako was concerned. And once again Rio was left alone at the entrance. She supposed someone could have stuck around to heal people or provide buffs, but they needed to extract the people and figure out what was going on. --- The Qlippoth was buffeted back by the Garudyne, which whipped away the cloud of dust. It regained its footing, and considered both of the people confronting it. The swordsman had mind charge, and the other one -- the young woman -- had powerful wind magic. Analysis revealed that she was also a healer, which essentially decided its course of action. The Qlippoth moved forward charging one fist with an agilao. It drew back, and struck at her. This also put it too close to her for Kakeru to consider launching an almighty spell at it. |
