The Manabu-monster was just above the Qlippoth when it fired off its Torrent Shot. He hissed and lept away from the ceiling, dodging away from the attack at a speed Manabu never would have achieved as his human self. Hanako's Dia had invigorated him enough that he wasn't quite limping away as he scurried up the stairs and away from the group. He continued running until the stairway was out of sight, and he stopped. His croaking laugh rang through the ruins until it was overcome by a cough. Manabu doubled over and coughed until he managed to hack up a nice puddle of blood onto the floor. He stared down at it and then resumed his croaking laugh as he assumed an animalistic, all-fours stance, his eye trained on the stairway. |

"Not armor--!" Kyo managed to grunt out. "Monster--!" Dia magic, then. Glorious, glorious Dia magic. Bleeding stopped, there was still a hole in her shoulder and a hole in her head where an eye should have been and there was still a marvelous pain in her jaw from The monster in front of them. It could hurt her weakness but more than that it could strike at something even worse. And that same thing was even more treacherous inside of Manabu, Manabu who Kyo only knew of in the vaguest sense, knew as that creeper-looking guy who had ascended, not been a terribly good person before that, and who was known by a degrading nickname around school... just as Kyo had been. The Arrogant Qlippoth was in the way... but even with her greater power she was a liability here. Someone the others would have to watch out for. Manabu, on the other hand, was a third-tier user, and had reverted to a monster state. Kyo gulped, and nodded sharply. "You two! If you get yourselves killed I swear I'll dig you outta the ground and re-assemble the ashes so I can kill ya myself!" she snarled, and took off, sprinting after Manabu. Her original plan had been to prevent the monster from using its magic by sapping all of it out with Spirit Drain, casting after casting. Now she knew she couldn't hope to last long enough to do that, not as she was now. Her mask reappeared, and she summoned Nevan. The Leanashe burst into existence amidst a swarm of bats, blasting the Qlippoth with Mudoon from the left--if she managed to knock the monster aside, Kyo would sprint past the Qlippoth and up the stairs after Manabu. As she ran, Kyo tried to call into her radio: "Rio! Rio, Manabu's gone monster! I need t' know what he can do, y'hear me?! I need ta calm him down! Make sure anyone who's on their way knows, dammit!" |

"Less talk, more go!" The Maraqua trick was attempted again, as soon as she saw what Kyo tried, she hoped that combined with her own efforts it would have at least provided her an opening to get away. Get after Manabu. "Keep an eye on it, Nakamura-san." She opened the map. They wouldn't last long without a plan. What they needed to do was pin it down, or at least keep it from telephoning around when it wasn't observed so Kyo and Manabu weren't in immediate danger. After that, they'd have to half-fight, half run for their lives to the nearest exit. One Manabu hadn't skittered off to, and as short as possible. Okay, that would have worked. She scrambled up the stairs, trying to get in the Qlippoth's face as she tried another Aqua directed towards his back. "Hey, you son of a bitch! Don't you walk away from me!" She also quickly explained what she intended to do to Daichi. "We are not going to die. What we are going to do is everything in our power to get this thing to chase us instead of Kyo and Manabu while we make for the exit. And whatever we do, we are not breaking visual contact with it, alright?" It sounded impressive and all, but it was still blocking the quickest way to safety. That would have been the first obstacle to overcome with her plan. If it kept after the others, she and Daichi just needed to be prepared to interpose themselves until they were long gone and it had no choice but to deal with them. It sounded almost laughable, and it was. But it was also her plan for making the most of the situation they found themselves in. |

Click: "Getting a lot of feedback from Kaerunuma," Rio said. "And avoid those tentacles and tongue. In addition to being gross, they're poison. He's fast and strong, but not at all durable...keep your heads up, cavalry is on its way." The hama spell refracted through it, and the Qlippoth staggered back. The mudoon spell did more: the shadow sank to its knees, and its surface yellowed like a tarnished mirror, warping the hallway visible through it. The water spell did yet more, knocking it down. After a moment, its body burst open. A massive amount of black, tar-like fluid spread out from the body, washing toward the persona users in a knee-high wave and flowing from the sky-bridge into the space below. The shadow-stuff dried out and turned to dust, choking the air. All that remained was the mask, the blank white hemisphere marked with the mouth, two eyes, and the vertical slash. It sat there upon the ground, seemingly inert. Then... Click: "Watch out! This is going to suck!" The mask rose up on a column seemingly composed of intense clarity, the hallway behind it perfectly visible even with damaged or impaired vision. It reached a height of two meters, and the column differentiated, becoming a human-like shape. The Qlippoth stood absolutely still, uninjured, as if lost in thought for a long moment. |

"Yeah! Fuck you asshole!" Daichi was never really one to gloat over the fact that he had been successful in killing something. This time though, it was alright. This specific shadow needed to die. So when they finally accomplished that? A moment of happiness wasn't to much to ask for right? "Wait wha..oh fuck you!" Rather than give the now regenerated Qlippoth time to collect itself. Daichi launched another Hama. Our reserves are nearly drained. We gotta keep going. We have to keep going. |

He could sense every Persona, every Shadow, every thing around him. This wasn't like the last time. The last time he'd just felt like his body was burning. He'd been trying to survive, he was still trying to survive, he wouldn't die here, oh god it hurt, and something was pulsing deep in the ruins under him and his brain felt fuzzy from whatever was above him and nearby was that hole in the world and a devil and a snake and an angel and they were going to kill him and everything was on fire and it hurt-- Manabu whimpered from somewhere inside his armor and clamped his jaws down on his arm. He bit right through the chain mail and into his tongue, drawing blood from both. The tentacles continued to whip around his body, as if shielding him. The moment Kyo managed to make it up the stairs to where Manabu was, he let go of his arm and sprang at her, screeching loudly, tongue flailing wildly through the air and dripping venom. If Kyo didn't get out of the way quickly, she'd soon find herself with a venomous tentacle monster on top of her and a whole new set of problems. |

Kyo glanced back in time to see the Qlippoth fall--she looked away in time to not see it regenerate. And then she was on her way up the stairs, sprinting up two at a time, around, and up the second flight, and then-- Well, she'd been chasing after a Monster Form, so it wasn't as though she was surprised to be attacked on sight. Even so, the narrow top of the stairs didn't leave her many options for dodging--she slipped to the side, and ducked into a roll, and gross, some of its spit had landed in her hair-- --she wiped at it irritably, but this was a mistake. The moment her hand brushed it aside, she realized she had also brushed it into the not-quite-half-healed wound in her face, and it burned faintly like acid. That burning sensation began to slowly spread, and she stumbled as she moved to right herself. She had to focus, ignore the pain. Poison. It was poison. She knew the feeling keenly--not only had she felt it before, but her own Persona was capable of dishing it out. "Manabu!" Kyo snapped, jogging backward from the steps. She held her hands up and to the sides, trying to look as non-hostile as one ever could when one could shoot lightning from there fingers--simply by holding her hands where they could be seen and where they obviously weren't pointed at the transformed boy. "Manabu, chill out, okay?! I'm your friend! Friend! Okay so, we don't know each other very well yet, but I'm on your side at least, okay?! C'mon, talk t' me!" I don't care if he's supposedly "reformed" or anything now, the dude is fucked up. Jeez, of course it had tentacles. Maybe if I hadn't been with him when we awakened, I'd think differently, but I was and I saw the nastiest sides of him then and I've seen some nasty sides of him since. Why did it have to be tentacles? Well, duh, it had tentacles-- And even without being there, I still know for a fact that he used to stalk people pretty extensively. I'm talking "keeping folders filled with info on all the girls in school" stalking. Kyo gulped a bit and glanced backward. She didn't know Manabu, she didn't know anything but his reputation and one way or the other that made her the absolute last person who could talk him out of a goddamn Monster Form right now. At the very least she had to lure it away from the stairs so the other two could get away. So the other two could--but, wait, no, Manabu was an analysis type, there was no telling whether he'd focus on Kyo instead of the others-- ... And that was when Kyo remembered the last time she'd wanted something creepy, monstrous, and obviously pervy to focus on her and chase her somewhere instead of chasing her companions. And what she'd done then! It had seemed such a clever idea at the time, that Marin Karin spell. Such a clever idea. It didn't seem like such a clever idea right now! In fact it seemed outright repulsive. If the monster chased after the others, then she would use it. For now, though-- "C'mon, Manabu, I'm not gonna hurt ya! Get it together, man, we need your help here!" Kyo yelled, still moving backward--toward the open corridor to the right of the stairs. She couldn't quite remember where this way led to, but hopefully Rio would have the presence of mind to give her a warning before she backwards-walked into any Shadows or something. Help had better come soon, dammit--! |

As long as some part of it remained, even a mask, Hanako didn't allow herself to relax. Guarding against optimism and the possible counterattack all the same. It was worth it when she witnessed the whole thing regenerate from the mask. "I see how it is…" Some ability that requires it to be killed multiple times or some other way of cheating death? Didn't matter. They didn't have to kill it, just get out of the ruins in one piece. But as she was, forcing their way though wasn't much of an option Medusa? 'Yes?' Do it. 'Understood.' The change was quick, but odd, sliding out from behind her mask wee rows of dark, glossy metallic scales, covering her whole body. She fell to her knees as her mask altered, secondary features formed, large, green lenses over her eyes, snake-like tendrils from her head, claws on her fingers, and instead of legs, a coiled serpent's tail. She was sleek, and agile, and leaned over. "Now…let's see what this can do! Daichi, with me, we're going to force it though and make a gradual retreat so it doesn't just appear in our way again!" Her eyes suddenly glowed a baleful red, wide beams of crimson light flooded the Qlippoth, and she could feel the power of them. She also felt it wasn't without a cost. Her magical reserves were being drained with every second. With all the previous spell-slinging keeping that up indefinitely wasn't an option. "And whatever you do?Stay away from the beams!" The hama diffracted through the shadow, causing a portion of its surface to turn milky. The wound seemed to fade, but it was still sluggish and diminished afterward. Then Hanako pulled out her trump: the Qlippoth raised one arm, and its surface changed from glassy clarity to a dull, stone-like surface. It remained absolutely still for a moment, and then began to vibrate. Cracks appeared in its surface, and it burst through. The Arrogant Qlippoth was diminished, but still certainly in the fight. It retreated from the persona users, but did not do so without an attack: The horizontal slash on its mask opened wide, revealing the inside of its mouth. The space inside was incredibly deep, seemingly of infinite dimension and absolutely empty. A shriek filled the subterranean space, and all of the persona users -- even those up the stairs -- would feel the vibration shaking their bones, as well as shaking something else loose. The sound was like a scream, but also had elements of electronic feedback layered in. They would find the voices in their heads, as well as the manifestations of their personae twisted, though still functional. After making its attack, the shadow began to retreat again. [Reversing Cry: The Qlippoth's mouth opens wide, revealing a portal to some dark and empty space of seemingly infinite dimension. A discordant noise of immense volume blares from the emptiness. This deals second tier force damage to everyone present, and causes the personal shadows of any unascended or imperfectly-ascended characters to manifest in the place of their personae, though this is merely a cosmetic change. Likewise, their personae are silent while their shadows are given free range to speak. This lasts until the characters leave the ruins, even if they defeat the Qlippoth.] |

Daichi let out a yell as the Qlippoth's attack hit him. He took a knee and tried to shake his head to get the ringing out of his ears. Michael, how much more we got?! It does not matter. For you to try and do anything is meaningless. That was definitely not Michael's voice. He got back up and shook his head once more. Shit, where had the thing gone? "Get back here!" Not only did losing this thing now mean it could teleport wherever it wanted. The thing could be tracking down Kyo. He began to give chase, running after it. "Hanako come on!" He rammed his shoulder through a door that had been blocking his path. Wait, was this some sort of conference area? He looked around and saw....what the hell? A large projection is blown up on the wall of this conference room. It shows what looks like an elevation map the river island that Nagashima covers and the surrounding area, but there is a jagged circle around it rendered in red. The caption at the bottom reads in Latin script: "WARNING SIGNS OF POSSIBLE EVERSION EVENTS AND THE NAVIDSON SCENARIO." There is a bloodstain upon the projection screen at about eye level. It is old and colored a rusty brown. "Hanako! Come look at this!" He walked over to the projector and grabbed the document. "What the hell...?" Edited by Exodin, Dec 16 2013, 08:29 PM.
