don't stare at it too long

Ryouta was mildly disappointed that the 'distract the big evil thing with magic light' didn't really work, but it seemed like the group might have been coming across its second wind anyways. They were evidently about to light it up. Whatever that'd mean.

Of course the Queenhoth(?) decided it was going to attack a different member of the crowd in the room, summoning a bunch of nasty looking needles to do the trick. He wasn't sure how much good it would do, but he cast another hamaon at the creature, this time targeting the creature's hand and the needles.

Seeing the nasty-looking needles flying towards him, Kakeru quickly jumped aside to avoid being hit by them, but some of those needles managed to hit him on his right foot. He grunted as he steadied himself, feeling some of those needles embedded into his flesh. Then he heard several people telling both him and Isoroku to use Fusion Spell.

He sighed. It couldn't be helped, he thought to himself. He looked at Isoroku and both of them nodded. He went closer to Isoroku as he adjusted his mask. Isoroku also did the same as both of them looked at the Qlippoth right in front of them. At the same time, they summoned their Personae.

While Isoroku managed to summon Penitent Gretchen, Kakeru somehow summoned a copy of himself, much to his confusion. The copy sneered and looked at him with a pair of golden eyes. So, that's the effect of the attack from that thing earlier, Kakeru thought to himself. Due to him being hit, his Persona was turned into his Shadow. But Isoroku's Persona remained unchanged.

"There's no time to be confused," Kakeru muttered before he looked at Isoroku. "Let's do this!"

"Right!" Isoroku nodded. Both of them focused their powers into this attack that they would use against the Qlippoth. They didn't know whether it would succeed or not, but they could only hope that it would work.

Penitent Gretchen held out her hands, filling the area with raging wind. Kakeru's copy stepped up, giving a sneer at Kakeru, as if saying 'you sure you want to do this?' before temperature at the area dropped as he conjured the ice. Combination of wind and ice produced some kind of miniature blizzard. Then, both Gretchen and the Shadow pumped their Charm and Fear spells into the miniature blizzard.

After producing the miniature blizzard, both Isoroku and Kakeru focused at their target, the Qlippoth. The wind changed its course and started attacking the Shadow. With that, both Persona-users could feel their energy being sapped away by this attack. They didn't know whether it could work or not, but they could only trust in themselves and at each other for this. Two elements, wind and ice, along with two spells that could alter the state of mind, all of them were focused onto the Qlippoth, attacking it at the same time.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Kyo winced a bit when Manabu snapped, and then winced again when he told her she should keep some things to herself. "Well, the basic gist o' that's already in our Moksa stuff," she muttered. "I'm just sayin', well--what if all the time we weren't makin' any progress down here, we were gainin' somethin' we need anyways? It'd certainly make up for nothing at all happening all this time."

She forged ahead, glancing at Hanako briefly, and then up at the ceiling.

"I mean, I've been a user for a long while now. I think, in just a bit longer, I might hit that level all you old-timers're at--y'know, third tier, dyne spells and all that. I can feel it. Like--it's around the next few corners, just outta reach. I've had all that time t' build myself up but nothin' happened durin' this time but stupid melodrama and conflicts up top. Oh, and a giant construction gang. If alla that winds up bein' what helps us push deeper inta the ruins mystery, then it's worth it, yeah?"

Kyo grinned a bit sheepishly.

"Besides, talkin'--helps me keep my head on straight, I guess," she admitted. "But I guess I do ramble a... a lot..."

Always about yourself and your own escapades, too, Kyo's Shadow whispered derisively in her mind. I did this, I did that, look at me, I'm important! Damn, girl, just flash everyone if you want to be noticed that badly, it's quicker and you do have a really nice rack on you~

And then she could hear it, faint but distant: howling wind, a passage or two over, echoing through the ruins to their position. It sounded like it would have been almost deafening if they could hear it close-up. "Hope that's the Fusion Spell..." Kyo said nervously, almost stopping in her tracks out of pure anxiety. "Is it workin', Rio? If that don't work they're gonna needta get outta there pretty quick..."

Hanako glared back at Manabu after his outburst. She was too tired to even be angry. Instead she added.

"Well, if the most useful thing you did while here was something you could have done at home. Why are you even here in the first place, Manabu?" It was a bit late for fretting and regrets at that point, wasn't it? The damage was done.

A distinct and new sound, not like any of the Qlippoth's attacks came from where the trouble was. Did Kakeru and Isoroku get the message? She hoped so. She really hoped the Shadow suffered and died for good as a result.

"Chatter all you want. I'm waiting outside." She glanced at their map, even taking this way, it wouldn't be long for the entrance. She intended to walk right out of there, sit at the hood of her car and make sure everyone got out before she went home.

Best Influence.
Rio was waiting for Hanako. She didn't say anything, but did open her cooler, tipping it in Hanako's direction. There were several bottled waters inside, as well as a few bottles of various fruit juices, and a small handful of beer bottles.

She raised her eyebrows, as if urging Hanako to select something.

---

The hamaon produced another rainbow of color and left another tarnished spot upon the Qlippoth.

The blizzard spell wracked the strange shadow, and it produced a groaning noise that stretched out, almost like a machine being taxed to its limits

It was improper to say that the thing died. While the previous times it had been defeated, it had produced a wave of black gunk as a shadow normally did, this time it did something completely new: the Qlippoth's body seemed to fold up into the mask, and it pulled in the raging spell.

Stillness. The mask floated in mid-air, glowing with a light blue radiance for a long moment, and then dropped.

What remains...

The Mask of Ewigkeitssonntag's Night

This mask appears to be a blank white disk, adorned with only two simple eye holes, a horizontal slash for a mouth, and a vertical line down the middle of the forehead. To a scanner, it would appear to be incredibly powerful, and its arcanum would clearly read "Magician." It can be used to cast Night of Ewigkeitssonntag five times, complete with Persona manifestations, even without the presence of Kakeru Kagami or Isoroku Mayoi, though they will both immediately know if it was used for that purpose.

Each use causes the mask to degrade, but there may be a way to recharge it.

Daichi clicked the radio again. Sighing and shaking his head.

"Right, well uh...I think it might be dead? I mean everything got sort of sucked into the mask. So...you know what? You third tiers can deal with this. I'm tired and i'm coming up."

Really what the actual fuck had they all been doing that was more important than this? They were some of the goddamn strongest users among all of them and what, they were busy sitting there talking about the goddamn weather or something? They were obligated to come on the important things like this. It was their fucking duty. Surely if he ever got that strong, he would never sit their and twiddle his thumbs while things like this happened. So he did the only thing he wanted to do at this point and that was to get the fuck out of there.

Still, that fusion spell had sparked his curiosity. Could he do something like that with someone?

I'm the best! I'm the king of me! I'm gonna eat chips out of the garbage!

Manabu lowered his head as Hanako admonished him, but he didn't say anything until Kyo was done talking. There was a sound of wind from far away, which was hopefully the Fusion Spell.

He sighed and looked up at Kyo. "Charinko-san, we've never gotten anything of worth done. There has always been nothing but teenage melodrama and a one-sided struggle against the Shadows. Didn't you hear? The whole reason Mori-san and Susaki-san made separate 'teams' in the beginning was because Susaki-san hated Mori-san and wanted to stick it to him, and Yaguruma-san died because she couldn't let go of something Kira-chan did shortly after gaining her Persona. Sure, sometimes we'd find documents or conspire to kill one of the boss Shadows, but we've never been able to so much as touch any of them, even when everyone was going at this place full force."

He shook his head. "If anything, the incidents up top were a natural psychological result of giving teenagers power and not giving them a group to stand with or control them. We talk big about there being a Persona-user 'community' but we're nothing more than a nebulous group of conflicting ideals. I'd think that the 'giant construction gang' would have been proof of that. I mean, do you really think Samurakami would have been able to make her move had she not had something powerful to back up her ideals?"

They were getting close to the entrance now. Hopefully they'd have good news when they got out.

Kaede stepped back and braced herself as the Fusion Spell began to assault the Shadow. When she looked up again, the weird clarity that made up the Qlippoth began to fold up and she swore that the spell was being absorbed by the Qlippoth. She was ready to fight again when suddenly the mask just dropped. She shot a glare at the retreating Daichi before walking up to the mask and picking it up.

"These first tiers are getting bitchier by the day," she grumbled. "Well, it hasn't popped out and tried to kill me yet, so I think it's dead. But let's take it outside just to be sure."

She groaned as she began to walk toward the entrance. "Geez, I'm beat... oh, and good job out there, Lovebirds."

Thankfully for everyone involved, things seemed to have finally worked their way out. The big evil scary thing was dead, and no one had died! Though as far as Ryouta was concerned, only the latter condition needed to be fulfilled for a successful run through the ruins. He headed back towards the entrance after Kaede.

Seeing that the Shadow was somehow defeated, Isoroku let out a sigh of relief. She felt extremely exhausted after overusing her spiritual energy for this attack. Before she could fall down, however, Kakeru managed to catch her, showing a concerned expression. Like her, he was also exhausted and he could just barely stand. "Isoroku, you alright?" Kakeru asked as he held the girl with his arms.

"I-I'm alright..." Isoroku said weakly. "I'm just feeling a little sleepy..." she said before she closed her eyes. Then, she fell asleep. Kakeru sighed. He was also feeling sleepy, so it might be a problem for him to carry her out of this place.

"Anyone willing to carry her out?" Kakeru spoke to anyone who was close to them. Heh, whatever..." he said before he lifted the sleeping Isoroku despite his tiredness and started walking towards the exit.

Kakeru noticed the mask that was left by the Shadow they defeated. They had to see what they should do with it once they're out of this place. He sighed again when Kaede called both of them lovebirds. Were they really that obvious?

The greenhair's response to Hanako was simple: "We can walk n' talk at the same time, jeez!"

Kyo glanced at Manabu in surprise when the reason for the two original teams came out--she's imagined something a little more along the lines of We need to solve this shit, so let's work together, but--really? She was distracted almost immediately from this by the mention of Chouko, which garnered a wince, and prompted Kyo to look away. There was no question that Kyo knew exactly what Manabu was talking about.

She remained silent after that, not remarking on Chouko or even the issue of Nana's organization--that last topic only seemed to make her even more uncomfortable, not in the way of hiding something--she had the bald-faced look of someone who had an opinion and felt guilty about it.

She didn't say anything more until she managed to get Manabu through the entrance, and back to where Rio had camped. Kyo kept a hold on Manabu until he chose to break away, but when he did, she muttered, "Well, all this time I've sorta just not worried about it 'cause I thought more work was bein' put in by the guys who got here first..."

It was a guilty confession. Unspoken was the message, I guess I was wrong.

Kyo then looked to Rio and grinned wanly. "So, did we win? For once?"
