Somehow, after being defeated, the Shadow managed to rise again. Isoroku sighed. No wonder Kyo and the others were having trouble dealing with this Shadow. Nodding to Kaede, the part-time model fired a Garudyne towards the newly-formed Qlippoth. Right after Isoroku firing her wind spell, Kakeru launched a Mind Charged Bufudyne towards the Shadow. This Shadow seemed to be rather hard to kill, and he was hoping that they could find a way to permanently put the Shadow down, without having it rising up from the dead again. |

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
|
Kyo swore under her breath (which was still probably audible through the radio), and swept her hand through her blood-drenched hair in aggravation, opening her eye for a moment--or rather, forgetting to keep it closed. There was a glimpse of eerie yellow where once there'd been green--and then she snapped it shut, hissing out another swear and slapping a hand over it. Sensitive and irritable had been understatements, it seemed: the eye had outright stung on contact with the air. Then Manabu mentioned his bag. Kyo swore again. There was always a niggle, wasn't there-- ...And then... Kyo stopped. She blinked a few times with her left eye, brain almost failing to process the obviousness of Manabu's theory. In her mind she'd been running through all the ideas she could think of. Videogame logic dictated weaknesses were typically opposing forces, but if it wasn't elements and had nothing to do with spell tier, there wasn't much it could be. What other attributes did this Qlippoth thing possess? It sent your Persona all wibbly and made your Shadow talk in its place. It attacked with soured relationships, literally chucking all your unresolved social fuck-ups and conflicts in your face. It gave Rio a sense of emptiness. What had she thought of first when the emptiness thing had been mentioned? Rio has said the sound an empty room makes, and Kyo's first thought had been You mean the sound life makes when I'm alone with my thoughts instead of either with one o' my friends or with some sorta distraction thing? Kyo barely noticed Daichi stepping into view, barely registered Ryouta telling her to go help the others. She just stood there, staring at Manabu with a look on her face that was made of pure "Eureka," probably a bit disturbing considering her face was covered in blood on one side and her hair was held back with yet more blood on the other. She pointed to Manabu. "That is good," she said. "That is good. Qlippoth makes our soured friendships and shit fight us, what's the opposite of that? Healthy ones. It's empty, it's made of emptiness, so y'gotta fill it with somethin'. And last but not least it--hang on--" Kyo snapped her finger, summoned her mask, and removed her hand from her face, placing the studded-leather thing over her eyes. Blue light flared as she summoned her Persona. Except it wasn't her Persona. Standing beside her was an exact duplicate of herself, eyes glowing eerie yellow, a shade not far-removed from the current color of her own irises, dressed in the same provocative black one-piece lingerie it had worn on the day she ascended. Kyo looked at it with a narrow eye, jaw tightening. Her Shadow stood there, hip leaning out to the side, arms folded over its stomach, and turned to look at its own, giving Kyo a playful, belligerent smirk. Its voice filtered into her mind along with that smirk: Mmm, been a while since we've looked each other in the eye like this, hasn't it? Can't even tell the difference between mine and yours anymore... "Not least, it brings all our personal shit t' the front and center. My Shadow's been yammerin' away in my head since that scream happened..." Kyo said. She looked toward Daichi and Hanako, grinning a bit as her Shadow faded away. "Seems t'just be a skin swap, though. I still feel all my spells. More importantly--" Kyo hit the radio button. "Rio! Y'said Mayoi and Kagami, right? Isoroku and Kakeru? WE HAVE OUR FUSION SPELL RIGHT THERE, SO TELL 'EM T' NUKE THE SUCKER." Then she shrugged toward Manabu, gestured toward the others, and said, "Let's just jet for now, we can go back for your bag once the Reaper's had time t' drift off someplace! I can help if the others need it, but that thing's got my number when it comes t' weaknesses." |

"Wait, that bag? Did I hear that right?" They did have to leave quickly, but since when did leaving a number of explosives in the ruins ever end well for anyone. "Well, it's not like it'd take much time to get it." She looked over her shoulder. …no, forget it. It wasn't the time for unnecessary risks. The whole trip was an unnecessary risk. She felt doubly strongly after getting a good look at Kyo, even before the issue of her eyes, there was quite a bit of blood, wasn't there? "Yeah, let's go." Manabu had returned to his senses and the Qlippoth wasn't a threat breathing down their necks, getting out while they were ahead was the smart thing to do. Either Someone who'd just came could have gotten it, or it'd still be there in a subsequent visit. She did make sure to note the location of where Manabu was when he went Monster Form on her map. In that way it would have been simple to go straight back for it when they weren't inviting the Reaper of crash in on what was already a difficult night. The fight wasn't for Hanako anymore, she wasn't cable of doing anything there anyways. "So, why don't we all get going then? Whatever happens wouldn't have been because of her direct input anymore. It was wisest to just leave while they were ahead. Perhaps the document Daichi had found would have meant it wasn't a total wash. |

Click: "I would, but I only have five walkie-talkies. They're kind of expensive, and I didn't think shit would go this pear-shaped. Someone's going to have to go and give the news." She thought for a moment, and then clicked the button again. "I'm not sure we've got time for politeness or drawing straws. Who there has fucked up the fewest relationships and taken the fewest hits?" --- The Qlippoth wasn't quite destroyed by the attacks, though it was severely weakened. The hallway fell into darkness. Flicker. There were five figures standing in the hallway, but the light was gone so fast that their identities couldn't be discerned. The light reappeared. A young woman with glasses and limbs replaced by twisted masses of metal struck Isoroku from behind. A tall man with a rather impressive and handsome pair of sideburns made a thrust toward Kakeru with a wickedly curved knife. Darkness. Light. A tall woman with red hair raised a shotgun, and fired directly into Isoroku's stomach from point-blank range. The girl with glasses and metal limbs struck Kakeru from behind. Darkness. Light. A boy -- a middle schooler -- with an innocent face appeared to Kakeru's left and struck at him with a skateboard. Darkness. Flicker. A pale foreigner with blonde hair and green eyes raised a rubber duck and gave it a squeeze. Somehow the sound it produced caused damage. [Remember: tier 1 for each reversed link. tier 2 for each broken one. All of it is almighty and can't be blocked.] |

Click: "Well from what I can tell that would be Hanako-san and me but...we're both out. She's more out than I am." Then he noticed how Kyo's shadow appeared instead of Nevan. This could definitely be a bad thing. Not to mention what it was wearing. Needless to say, Daichi began to look anywhere that it wasn't. Because looking at a girl dressed like that, more importantly his friend. Was all sorts of wrong to him. Still...fusion spells? The concept of that was for lack of a better word, awesome. "I uh...my shadow's been chattering away in my head as well. So if we could leave now please?" Really, now that there were third tiers down there to fight the Qlippoth? It was officially their problem. Not that Daichi wouldn't help them. He just had no way of being able to do that. Seeing as how all of his energy was gone. Still, it seemed like Manabu and that other boy weren't an option. So it was probably going to have to be Kyo. Meaning that there was no way in hell he was leaving just yet. Manabu continued leaning against Ryouta, breathing in and out at a steady pace. God, his ribs hurt. It could have been worse though. He'd have to thank whoever'd cast that Diarahan later. He laughed as the meaning of his words sunk in for Kyo. "Haha... of course it does, they're husks. Husks were meant to be filled or... were they filled with something previously? Hmm..." he mumbled. He didn't seem to be paying much attention, but when Rio said that they had all of the radios, he swore. After a moment, Manabu got off of Ryouta's shoulder. "Not one person. Two. Buddy system's always safer and we're risking the Reaper showing up as it is. If our messenger dies on the way, the others won't find out how to kill the Qlippoth... suddenly we'll have four bodies on our hand and this will be even more of a wreck than it already is. Has to be two." He turned toward Ryouta. "...Endo-san, you should go. Out of all of us, you're the strongest and most capable of fighting right now. Don't worry about me... I think I can make it on my own. And for the other one..." He grinned at Daichi. "Why don't you go, senpai? I mean, the Qlippoth's attack couldn't hurt you earlier, and you didn't go Armored Form like Ito-san did. You're definitely perfect for the job." At that moment, Manabu lost whatever balance he had and stumbled up against Kyo's shoulder. He chuckled and gave a small cough. Kaede was just about ready to fire another attack at the Qlippoth when the hallway fell into darkness. When the light came back, people she didn't know were in the room. "Shit!" She whipped her head back and forth, trying to find the Qlippoth in the flickering light. "Where are you!?" When the lights stopped flickering, she turned toward Isoroku and Kakeru. Okay, shit, shit. They could both heal, but Kakeru wasn't that good at it. That meant he needed the Diarahan the most. Why the fuck didn't she have a better group healing spell than Media?! She summoned her Persona and cast Diarahan on Kakeru, and then turned toward the Qlippoth, bristling in anger. How the fuck were they supposed to kill this thing?! |

"A-are you sure you can make it on your own?" Ryouta asked, still rather worried about Manabu's well being. He trusted that the boy could make it out easily enough, but it still made him uncomfortable to the possibility of him being attacked by shadows on his way out. "I mean... you're probably one of the smartest people in these ruins right now, and I trust your judgement. I'll go help the others as best I can." Ryouta prepared to turn and head off after the larger group, pausing for a moment. "J-just remember. When we're all out of here, we'll give you as much help as you need." He gave a reassuring nod, and headed towards the others. |

Kakeru was about to cast a Mind Charge on himself while Isoroku prepared herself to launch another Garudyne before the Qlippoth did something. People they barely recognized showed up, and both of them were attacked by these people as the lights flickered. Both of them were unable to block or dodge the attacks, and Isoroku could recognize the people who were attacking them. Especially the one with mechanical arms. A nasty wound could be seen on Isoroku's exposed midriff. She fell on her knees, eyes widened. She was confused by the sudden appearance of people she knew and had soured relationship with her. Trying to shake off the confusion, Isoroku cast Diarahan on herself, healing her injuries. Meanwhile, Kakeru took all the hits and almost fell on his knees. The rubber duck was kind of hilarious, though (it still hurt, by the way). He used his nodachi as a support. "Heh... it hurts, ya know?" the former child-assassin muttered as he smiled grimly. He nodded to Kaede when she cast a Diarahan on him. With that, his injuries faded. Then, he adjusted his mask. "Mind Charge," Kakeru cast Mind Charge on himself to amplify his next attack. Meanwhile, Isoroku cast another Sukukaja on herself. |

Kyo heaved a bit, stumbling when Manabu hit her shoulder. It made sense, really, that she should be the one to bow out. Her Shadow was snickering in her mind at some private joke, though Kyo had a feeling she knew what the joke was. Manabu and she hadn't quite "connected" before this, even if Kyo had made some attempts to do so--now they would. Not today, probably, but soon. Soon. Quite soon. Because of this, because they'd seen each other in a light that made it impossible for one to completely ignore the other now. First, though... "Right--Daichi, go with Ryouta, and--don't get set on fire! Hanako, on us." Kyo said. "Remember--Isoroku and Kakeru. Boyfriend and girlfriend, been through a lot, super close. They'll make a great Fusion Spell, I'll bet..." All that work I put into fixing Isoroku and getting those two back together... sighed the Shadow in her mind. Kyo got the sense her Shadow was smiling in a self-satisfied way, as if she herself were about to cast a Fusion Spell and obliterate the Qlippoth personally. Well, it wasn't entirely wrong to feel like she deserved some credit, was it? ...Was it? Feeling a strange squirming sensation in her stomach that surprisingly had nothing to do with Manabu leaning against her shoulder (although he certainly wasn't the kind of guy she'd want to lean against in normal circumstances, something she couldn't help feeling a bit guilty thinking about all of a sudden), Kyo began to walk, guiding Manabu down a path to the left of the stairs. It would lead them back to the entrance, but down a roundabout path that would hopefully guide them around the Qlippoth. "I've got a full tank o' magic and the Shadow thing ain't affectin' my control," Kyo said. "I can deal with any stray Shadows that get in our way. Worst comes t' worst I'll use my Armored Form and turn inta a motorcycle--I can carry up t' two people that way, but--" Kyo rummaged in her pocket and brought out Death's Compass again, holding it up, turning it over and around to determine the Reaper's elevation--whether or not it was on their floor yet. "--but I'd rather not do that unless I hafta," she said heavily. "A week without gettin' any rest from sleep ain't... ain't much fun." |

She didn't like the idea of Daichi wandering into danger, she didn't like it one bit. Just because he was immune to the Qlippoth's most potentially punishing attack didn't mean it had plenty of other ways to do him real harm that had nothing to do with how well he'd gotten along with his fellow users. That said, someone should have went with Ryouta in case there was a problem. She would have gone, but…honestly, they were largely in the same condition. She had no voices in her head, and he was stuck with his Shadow. She would have suggested she go instead but he likely would have volunteered anyways. "Endo-san? Please be careful and look out for Daichi for me?" She said to Ryota. "And as for you, Nakamura-san…" She said, dryly but obviously joking as she addressed Daichi. "You'd better come back unharmed, do we understand one another? Get the message delivered and come back in one piece. If you die on me, I'll kill you, I swear." She had a small smile despite having little to smile about in her opinion. But she could have counted on Daichi for this. Yes, of course he could have handled that without problems. To the others. "Okay, sure. Let's go. As it is now, we're just in the way." She followed behind the others quickly. With Kyo's offer of a speedy escape the last resort, she added. "If we leave right now, it shouldn't come to that, Kyo. That's all the more reason to get moving, huh?" Best if they didn't have to worry about Kyo having to endure a week without Dream Catcher. Besides, she had a document that it was best to get into Rio's hands ASAP. Edited by Nonsequitur, Dec 27 2013, 09:53 PM.
