"Tell me what, Takashi? What more is there to tell?" He retreated, she advanced. She paused to give 'Emi' a dismissive glance, and then she was back on 'Takashi' eyes full of fire.

"What's she to you? What's this about behind her back? I asked you and you said she was just a friend." She added, flatly with an edge of malicious fury just suggested. "How friendly are you two? I want to know. now."

It was nice range with Aleph, lots of guys would be too embarrassed to even try a falsetto. And most that did would probably have an awkwardly cracking affair, but his was pretty good. Yuuki was pretty good too. She almost felt a little bad for him.

almost!

Of course, her delight couldn't be showed. Mia Sato was delighted. But Choriko was a powder keg. She looked ready to go off at any time, even as she followed lines on her copy of the script and checked her next lines.

While exceedingly ear-grating, Serizawa seemed to be holding his tone, if a little deadpan in delivery. Whether that was skill or fortunate accident it would wait to see.

"T-That," visible and audible gulp added, "I've always tried to explain when I came to know you, Choriko, but I did use a wrong term back when we met."

He was talking faster, the metaphorical freedom of words unsaid, interrupted and ill-defined that had gotten him into this situation, "my engagement with Eri was not official the first time we met, though as it was soon going to be I still should have..."

Yuuki finally remembered there might be a downside with taking this role because about this time his character got slapped. Though that depended how 'in character' the other members were in previous versions of this exercise.

Oh, Aleph wished the girly voice thing was just a gigantic fortunate accident. Sadly, it was pure talent, a talent in which Aleph always regretted possessing.

'Emi' gasped in shock, as if 'she' couldn't actually believe the words coming out of 'Takashi's' mouth. As if 'he' could weasel his way out of something so inexcusable.

"Just what kind of excuse is that?!" 'Emi' asked rhetorically, 'her' voice slowly becoming filled with anger. 'She' just wanted to--wait, slapped? Someone was supposed to 'slap' the unfaithful man? But who?

Wait, who should slap him? The dork girl or the alpha bitch?

Aleph then stayed silent as he didn't know whether or not he should continue the reading, fearing that he might get a little to 'in character'.

There was a lot more to a performance than lines. Something as simple as '(Choriko is furious)' leaves much up for interpretation. Mia's eyes practically flashed for a moment, but then it died down to a quiet smoldering.

She even curled her lips into a little, mirthless smile. She turned to Eri. "Oh, he tried to! Well that makes all the difference in the world, wouldn't you agree?" She intentionally telegraphed what would happen next. She turned back to Yuuki, and held up her hand with the script in a way that would have her palm hovering in front of his face. She raised her arm, and snarled as she struck not Yuuki but her own palm.

It still made a satisfying, audible 'slap' and if he caught on in time? It might appear seamlessly as though she slapped him with all her strength. "What kind of man are you you spineless bastard?!"

Even with the blocking of a 'theatrical slap' Sato's enthusiasm was surprising enough that it played into Yuuki's convincing wince. Because he could just imagine what being slapped in the face felt like based on past experience.

"Th-The spineless kind," Yuuki said with a suppressed sob. "Really, I've been trying to make you both happy. It's, so nice to see."

Yay. Nobody had to actually slap anybody. Aleph watched as Mia initiated the 'theatrical slap', making it sound like an actual slap even though it never connected to the other boy's face. On the other hand, Aleph would've just opted for the 'swing and miss' maneuver and imagine a slapping sound effect playing in the background. Alas, a dramatic play was very different from an on-screen movie, so they had to improvise, like with everything else.

"Happy?! How can I be happy if you're not faithful to me?!" 'Emi' asked after 'Takashi' gave his explanation, growing even more angry. "How do you expect me to be happy if you're...juggling girls left and right? Huh? How do you expect that?"

"…what did you just say? Happy? Happy?!" She remained confrontational, and that meant remaining in his face. "Tell me Tadashi! Who does this arrangement make happy except for you?" She sounded furious, but with a tinge of being hurt.

And suddenly, just as the fury came, it left her. 'Choriko' seemed to have a sudden realization dawn upon her. "Honestly, what am I even doing here? You're not even worth my time…"

She smiled to 'Emi' "My apologies. I've never been a homewrecker before, and I won't start now. Best of luck with that one."

"It wasn't meant to be juggling it," another gulp for effect. "It's not making me happy at all. B-But, you two were so miserable before."

Pathetic as Takashi was the tragic nature of the role reinforced some of Yuuki's opinions. That being nice in trying to get to know others (as to Takashi's utter passivity) didn't endear you to anybody. Others would look out only for themselves, taking advantage of every situation, as the two women did with Takashi. People would always misunderstand or use your actions against you. And thus nobody understood that the character's intentions were purer than they thought.

"I'm so sorry...to both of you."

As much as the anger built up, it then disappeared within 'Emi' as she looked at 'Takashi'. This was going absolutely nowhere except towards disaster.

"Hmph. She's right. I don't know what I'm even doing here either." 'She' said. "And honestly, I don't know if I can forgive you for this."

In spite of Emi's generally pleasant personality(or maybe because of it), the role really taught Aleph a few things. One of which being that even the nicest of people could turn completely cold, if not outright cruel, when certain buttons were pushed.

'Emi' briefly bowed her head. "Goodbye."

And that…seemed to be the end of the scene. Checking her script confirmed it.

Mia turned around with a smile, you'd never guess there was a hint of a scornful, jilted woman there. "So, I don't know about you two, but I thought that was pretty fun!" Of course she did, that was exactly the sort of thing she was hoping for. Though after that, there was a moment where she had felt compelled to ask.

"So, could I ask you guys what did you think of my performance? It wasn't too hammy?" She was definitely sure she was laying it on a bit thick at parts. "I thought you two did great. And that was a pretty good voice considering what you and to work with, Aleph!
