At the question, naturally she went first to the old terminology used from back home sprang to her mind first. But 'Junior' didn't really mean much in a Japanese school.

Instead that was…"I'm a second year, and no, I don't have my homeroom assigned yet. We'd only really recently come into town."

So, exactly how did anything get done? She supposed there had to be someone in charge even if the lunatics were running the asylum? She followed after him quietly, but as she did, she made sure to do her best to get as acquainted with the building as possible.

"Well, if you haven't made a some buddies by lunch, you can come sit with me and mine if you want."

Just because this girl was the trillionith new girl from America didn't mean he was going to be an asshole to her.

"Or not, do whatever you want."

He shrugged as they found themselves outside of the teacher's lounge.

"Well, here we are."

There was still a bit of hesitance there, wasn't there? She thought so. Were there really that many Americans there? Or did they just do such a good job wearing the Ugly American hat?

Hmm, or maybe it was just an undercurrent of jingoism? Ugly that in of itself. Though that didn't seem to be the case as he was inviting her to sit with him at lunch. She just smiled. There wasn't any reason to say no, so of course her answer was simple.

"Sure, I'd like that a lot." Even though her own opinion of it was a lot more ambivalent than she let on, she did her best to sound completely sinscere. "Thanks for showing me to the lounge, too, Yamamoto-san."

As if by serendipity, the door to the Teacher's Lounge opened to show the bespectacled visage of Rozen Moore, the non-native first year Composition teacher, whom was also one of the scant, very scant few faculty who has her faculties about her. She blinked in surprise when she noticed the two youths in front of the door.

"Yamamoto?" She asked in slight confusion. "Who's this with you?" She asked looking at Mia Sato with a raised eyebrow. "You trying your photographer pickup lines on another freshman?"

"Oh come on Sensei! I haven't done in a long time!"

Sure, just because Takeru had been poetic to a couple of pretty girls once a long time ago it was going to haunt him forever.

"This is Mia Sato, transfer. Second year. She needs to know which class to go to."

That's right, just smooth right over it.

Oh, well, was this a new development! Takeru was the sort to use his hobby as an excuse to pick up girls? And this teacher, she apparently knew about such things. Sounded American, by the hint of her accent, but she couldn't quite place where. Perhaps a product of one of those finishing schools where they stress e-nun-ci-a-tion. She was possibly there teaching ESL?

At once, she stood up a bit straighter and clasped her hands together at her waist, and bowed. "No, Sensei. He was just helping me with directions. Yamamoto-san was in fact very helpful." Her voice was a bit lower than when she spoke with Takeru, and she tried made every effort to show reverence. "I am a new student, a second year and I need to have my homeroom assigned."

Rozen crossed her arms at Mia's show of standard Japanese reverence to a higher authority figure. "You can stop that, you know." She said. "It doesn't feel right, having a student act like that to me." She muttered, looking aside and slightly uncomfortable.

"Anyway, Mia Sato, correct?" Rozen repeated. "I can go check the register to see where you've been placed if you're willing to wait a moment."

"Oh yeah. forgot to tell you that Moore-sensei is...kind of weird for a teacher."

He shrugged after whispering and gave Mia an apologetic look.

"I see. My apologies." Well, that was a bust. As far as Mia was concerned, a teacher who'd come to Japan would be somewhat of a stickler for how the place 'should' have been. But clearly she was wrong.

"I see, what part of America did she teach in before coming here?" It was only the natural assumption to make, wasn't it? Even if she still had trouble pinning down what part of the country she was from, New York maybe?

Rozen rolled a pinky finger in her ear. "I can hear you two whispering, since you're both right in front of me." She said, lightly poking both Takeru and Mia on the forehead with an index finger.

"I'm also not weird," she grumbled, "I'm just not used to the level of reverence students are indoctrinated to show here in Japan, even if it's been five years since I moved here." She stated. "And I'm a nationalized american, I was born in Ireland, then moved to Seattle, where I was a teacher for ten years."
