"Yeah, I suppose you're right..." Isoroku sighed as she stretched up. "But she doesn't have to necessarily be a bad boss, right?" she said. "Kinzaki once told me about noblesse oblige..." she said, recalling the time when she had some talks with the heiress. "Have you heard that?" she asked her green-haired friend. "To those who have wealth, power and prestige, they also have to bear responsibilities as the nobles," Isoroku said. "It is more like an obligation to society, in which they have to play their parts because they have something that common people lack..." she closed her eyes as she continued. "It is the same for Kinzaki too. By having everything, she is also given responsibilities that common people don't have." Isoroku sighed again. "So, by being a noble, she has her own responsibilities to lead, to manage and to show example to other people. So, the one with responsibilities cannot freely pursue personal goals..." |

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

Kyo remained silent for several moments, a peculiar smile working at her mouth. For the moment she quite forgot that the room might be bugged, or that Reina or one of her lackeys might be listening in, or playing this conversation back later on, or anything. Noblesse oblige, eh...? Sounds nice in theory. But Kinzai really is just the exception to the rule, isn't she? "People don't think like that," Kyo said dully. "If they did, the world wouldn't suck so hard. Simple as that." The green-haired girl rolled over, and shuffled around until her head was on the pillow. "Isoroku, mind if I catch a nap for an hour, maybe? I feel a bit worn-out by all o' this." |

Isoroku nodded. "Yeah, I agree with you. And because of that, both Kinzaki and I ended up having a quarrel," she sighed. "We made up the next day, but it's rare for Kinzaki to be so defensive about that..." she smiled at Kyo. "It's like she really tried her best to believe in that. She wanted to believe in that ideal and live up to it..." now that she thought about it, she had no fixed ideal in mind. No personal goal to pursue. Ever since her personal quest for vendetta met an abrupt end, she found nothing to pursue anymore. When Kyo rolled over on the bed, Isoroku she just looked at her. "Yeah, sure. I'll watch over you for the time being, then..." she said with a smile. If there's one thing she liked to do whenever they're together, it would be watching her best friend sleeping. |

"Well, if she wants t' believe in that and live up to it more power t' her, but, she's just gonna be fightin' against the tide all her life if that's what she does," Kyo said, throwing her arm over her eyes. "Like, y'gotta respect it, but... that ain't the norm. Maybe it's what the norm should be, but..." Kyo sighed, and lifted her arm up to peek out at Isoroku through one open eye. "I don't need watchin' over, so just keep alert while I'm out and wake me up in around an hour to an hour and a half," she said. "And uh--actually--come t' think of it, uh..." Kyo coughed into her fist. "Chika tells me I've been talkin' in my sleep a bit lately so if I start mutterin' wake me up," she said with a slight shake of nervousness. "Seems t' happen when I have a certain dream I've been havin' lately. I wouldn't want anyone walkin' by the room t' overhear me blubberin' about how sorry I am I got my boyfriend killed or nothin'. Heh..." (Of course what she really meant was I'd rather not let the bugs hear me talking but that was something she couldn't outright say... because the bugs would hear it. Gosh, bugs are annoying.) |

"Well... if there's one thing I like, it's when watching you while you're sleeping..." Isoroku said. "..." then, after a few seconds of silence, she added with a playful smile. "Just kidding..." she said, chuckling. Giving the green-haired girl a gentle smile, she spoke to her. "Just hang in there, Kyo..." she said as she showed the girl a reassuring smile. "If you want anyone else to listen to you, I'm here for you..." she told the other girl. Kyo had been a very good friend and had been helping her many times before, so she wanted to do the same as well. |

Kyo quirked an eyebrow at the watching-while-you-sleep comment. "Aaaah, ah, I get it, sayin' that's payback for all the times I creeped ya out by sayin' weird stuff myself," she said in a revelatory tone after a few seconds, nodding in a distinctly ooooh sort of way. "Well, anyways... I know that you're here for me if I need ya, but let's wait 'til we're done with this mess before we start talkin' about mine." Kyo put her arm over her eyes. "Shit, I can't even say the big thing that's buggin' me there, 'cause it's not my thing t' tell around, see?" she added exasperatedly. "I know I can trust ya with it, but the whole--can't-tell-other-people's-secrets stipulation is kinda gettin' in the way, besides which I point-blank said I wouldn't tell no one." And Kyo wasn't sure it was wise to tell Isoroku about her talk with Edward's ghost to begin with, but even so, if she wanted to know, Kyo would have told her without hesitation if there weren't a threat of death hanging over her head... |

Isoroku smiled understandingly. She knew that Kyo might have gone through a lot of things, and as her friend, she would like to help her with that. "Well, in case if you feel like telling me about it, I'm ready to listen to you, Kyo," she said, nodding. "You should trust me more, okay? I'm here for you..." Her tone wasn't accusatory at all. Instead, it was a reaffirmation that she would always be there for Kyo, no matter what. "Go on and have some rest, okay?" Isoroku told Kyo. "I figured that you must be tired..." |

Kyo snorted a bit. "Isoroku, I couldn't trust you any more'n I do without bendin' the concept o' trust into a pretzel shape," she said. "Y'know, I have this dream where all my friends're toys, right? It's a weird-ass dream I keep havin' lately. And they all have little numbers on tarot cards next to 'em. Yours is... in this big old fancy display case the others don't have, and it's the only one with a 'ten' on the card. Hiroko's is right next to it, and he has a '9.'" She sighed. "We'll talk about some stuff after this. Between this, that, and the other, I just... I feel like I'm gonna fall apart under all the pressure one o' these days. G'night, Isoroku... or, uh. Afternoon. Whatever time it is. Whatever..." And then Kyo allowed herself to fade out... |

Isoroku was happy when she heard that from Kyo. While she felt bad that she became more special than Hiroko, she was glad to be someone special for her best friend. When Kyo went to sleep, Isoroku watched over her. She had promised that she would always trust her, forever if she could help it. And while she was watching over her, she felt a presence before she saw her doppelganger sitting on the opposite side of the bed. She could tell that the time froze as the doppelganger appeared. But, after having a few minutes of conversation, the doppelganger disappeared and the time returned back to normal. Sighing, Isoroku muttered to herself. "Hmph. Why do I have to take the worst trait from Kyomu?" Well, she only had herself to blame. Perhaps she's just that dramatic. Having nothing better to do, she continued watching the sleeping Kyo. |
