A trip to Kirihara mansion was suffocatingly silent as Isoroku and Kyo went there by taxi. The part-time model didn't say anything at all to her green-haired friend. It's because she was too worried about Kinzaki and her father. She couldn't bring herself to imagine what kind of torture the heiress would have to go through, and since Isoroku herself had gone through the same thing before, the experience wouldn't be pleasant. So, the silence continued until the taxi arrived in front of the mansion. Isoroku almost didn't notice it when they arrived. She looked at Kyo. "Kyo, we're here..." she said. She told Kyo that she would pay for the ride. Isoroku was very nervous. She never met Hajime Kirihara before, and Kinzaki never talked about him whenever she's with her. The only thing she knew about Hajime was that he's the head of Kirihara Corporation and a renowned researcher. |

Two occasions to date now--two occasions on which Kyo had come to Kinzaki's estate, and both had been grim as hell occasions... not at all the friendly visits Kyo had envisioned on the one or two previous occasions she'd thought about hanging out with Kinzaki at home. Her previous intention to ask Kinzaki to help her figure out her Dream Catcher ability were forgotten now. All that remained was a suppressed, nauseous-feeling worry in the pit of her stomach. It wasn't the same as knowing that Isoroku and Hotaru had been kidnapped in the past. It wasn't the same as being the calm, collected one while Natsumi pulled her hair out over her best friend's abduction. This felt more real, because it was immediate, personal... as she sat in this stupid taxi, enjoying convenient transport and soft, comfortable seats, Kinzaki was somewhere else, and who knew what might be happening to her now. Kyo slipped out of the car wordlessly, giving the driver a small nod. The guy must have picked up on some of the tension, because he looked like he wanted to wish the two of them luck or something. Fancy that, a stranger who gave a shit. Ha... if only he knew what was really happening right now. The green-haired girl stepped up to the gate, looking to Isoroku. She took a breath, and nodded, speaking in a quiet voice. "Alright... now t' make sure nothin' happens t' Hajime... and t' make sure he don't do anythin' stupid while Shin's workin' t' track his daughter down. Remember, Isoroku. We need t' convince him t' let us and the police deal with this, and t' let us keep a guard on him. If he refuses, things'll get complicated..." |

Isoroku nodded. "Yes. After all, this is the only thing we can do right now..." she said before she stepped towards the gate and rang the bell. A moment later, the front gate was opened before a familiar female clad in suit stepped out. She removed her sunglasses and gave both girls a nod. It was Kiyo, Kinzaki's former bodyguard. "Greetings," she said. "Goshujin-sama has been expecting you..." she said before turned around and went into the mansion. Isoroku looked at Kyo to exchange glance with her before she followed the female bodyguard into the mansion. It sounded a little weird because from what the bodyguard had said, Hajime had been expecting them to come. |

When the suited woman stepped out of the gate, Kyo thought she looked familiar. It wasn't until the shades came off that she recalled where from. This was the bodyguard that had been with Kinzaki in the park the day they'd first... ... Kyo suddenly found it inexplicably difficult to look Kiyo in the eye. She instead looked to Isoroku, and then diverted her eyes to the side. She then stuffed her hands in her pockets to prevent herself from fidgeting with them. In order to convince Hajime to do things her way, she needed to be the way she'd been on the roof with Natsumi that day--calm, in control, quick-witted. She felt anything but those things right now. "Expectin' us, huh? Did Seiji call ahead?" Kyo asked. "Never mind. Let's go, Isoroku." And she followed the bodyguard without further comment. |

Kiyo led both Isoroku and Kyo down the corridor, where they could see all sorts of fanciness rich people would own before they arrived in front of a door. Kiyo looked at both girls before she opened the door, revealing a study room. "Please enter..." she said, telling both girls to enter as he remained outside. In the study room, there was a bespectacled, middle-aged man sitting on his chair, seemingly reading something. When he saw both Isoroku and Kyo, he put down the book he was reading on the table as he got up. "I've been expecting two of you..." he said in composed, low tone. "I've heard about you two from my daughter..." From what Isoroku could see, the man, Hajime Kirihara didn't show any sign of emotions from his face. His expression seemed... disturbingly neutral and calm despite the fact that his daughter was kidnapped by his own sister. She didn't want to assume thing, but it looked like he didn't really care about his daughter's kidnapping. "I believe you two have something to say," Hajime spoke, still in awfully calm voice. "Am I... correct?" |

Kyo felt an absurd, crazy, and just plain embarrassing urge to hold Isoroku's hand on the way to Hajime's study. Putting her finger on why was stupidly simple: she always had simply been that sort of person who took comfort from physical contact, be it the old her who used it as a substitute for an actual connection, or the present her, who just wanted it along with all the other meaningful things. There was nothing romantic about this urge. She just wanted warmth and stability, that was all. And that was what Isoroku was, warmth, stability, trust, someone that Kyo knew she could always, always rely on, who would never leave her out in the cold. She didn't take her hands out of her pockets, though. If she could show weakness around Isoroku, that was a relief, but she couldn't show it around Hajime, so she just tried to clear her mind on the way through, not taking in the scenery at all, she'd seen it last time anyway. Calm. In-control. Quick-witted... Why was it harder to keep her head on straight now then when she had the motherfucking Reaper in front of her...? The study door opened, and Kyo gave Kiyo a nod of acknowledgment and a quiet, "Thanks," before entering. Isoroku beside her, Isoroku was there. Yes. Stability. Focus on Isoroku. They were in this together. Together, they could do anything. Together they were invincible, whether that meant against monsters or against fear and anxiety. "Yeah," Kyo said in response to Hajime, after a few seconds to grab hold of this lynch-pin to sanity. Approaching this man, Kyo was struck by how stark her own appearance was compared to him, compared to her surroundings. All this fancy culture, this man of privilege in his fine clothes, with so much luxury around him. And her, an obnoxious girl whose attire screamed pure hatred for what culture would have dictated she wear, whose hair was cut short in the back and hung over one side of her face more like a boy's than anything. Her hands, still casually in her pockets. Even her voice, that accent, the lack of formality. "Yeah, we've got stuff t' say," she said. "I'll cut straight to it, though. If you're expectin' us, y'know about what happened, so..." Kyo withdrew her hands from her pockets, gesturing to herself, and then to Isoroku. "We're here t' make sure that Reina witch can't make any moves on you while the police inspector I called for help works on locatin' your daughter, sir," she said. "If you'll let us. It's your decision, but, you've prolly come t' the same ideas about what she's doin' that I have--right?" |

"...I see," Hajime responded after hearing that from Kyo. He removed his glasses and put them on his table. His expression remained unchanged as he looked at both girls. "K-Kyo's right, Hajime-san," Isoroku said, agreeing to what Kyo had told the man as she looked at him. She was a little disturbed by Hajime's awfully-calm demeanor. Well, he might have better control of his own emotions, but it was his own daughter who was kidnapped. He could at least show a little worry. "But before we can continue, would you two like something to drink?" Hajime said, turning around. "I insist," he added. After all, he needed to tell these two something that couldn't be said with words. After all, the walls have ears. |

"I'm not really all that thirsty, sir," Kyo said a bit blandly. It was true; she wasn't thirsty. She had a bit of a craving for an alcohol buzz, but that was just her brain snatching at the first stress-release valve it could think of under the circumstances. "If y'wanna get us somethin', feel free, your house and all. But I can't promise I'll drink it." What was with this guy, though? So calm, so cold... Kyo didn't want to think ill of the man, but she couldn't understand it. It set her even more on edge than before, and she had to wonder what exactly was going on inside this man's mind. Sorrow? Regret? Anxiety? He had been reading when they entered, though. If it were Kyo, she wouldn't have been able to focus on a book at all. Was this a front? Or was he well and truly calm in the midst of this catastrophe? |

Despite Kyo saying that she might not drink the offered drink, Hajime had the table being set by maids before they poured some tea into the cups. They told both girls to have their seats as their drinks being poured into the cups. Isoroku couldn't understand it. How could this man be so... cold? So... indifferent? Perhaps he might be hiding it too well, but this was really frustrating for her. She looked at the teacup in front of her. She didn't feel like drinking it. But then, she saw it... And she had to stop herself to gasp after seeing it. There was something written on the side of the teacup. Kyo's included. The note written on it was simple, but it gave the point across to her. Don't say anything. The walls have ears. She's hearing us. And now, Isoroku understood why Hajime looked so cold and indifferent. She looked at the man and saw him putting his finger on his lips, telling them to not say anything. Apparently, Reina had put several devices around the room to listen to any conversation there. "So... have you two been good friends with my daughter?" Hajime started, sipping his own tea. |

Kyo didn't gasp, but she saw the message, plain as day. The walls had ears... Listening devices? Surely if Hajime knew that, he could have them removed? Kyo glanced at the walls. Was he so certain there were devices in here, or what? Had there already been devices in place when they had spoken with Subaru after meeting Kinzaki before? Or was Hajime simply being paranoid...? "Yeah," Kyo said, her eyes scanning the ceiling and walls. "Although t'be honest, not as good a one as I shoulda been. Feel like I shoulda seen this comin'. Done somethin' sooner. Dunno how I woulda been able to, since I didn't know about 'her' until--Napoleon, but..." Kyo reached into her pocket as she spoke, withdrawing her phone. Gently, she began to tap buttons, bringing up the text message input screen, and starting to type. When she turned the phone around, it bore a simple message: are you sure this room is bugged? |
