Kakeru just shrugged before he followed Kyo into the ruins. Because they were in group, he wouldn't have to worry about getting lost. He cautiously looked at their surroundings, hoping that they wouldn't get caught off-guard. His hand remained on the hilt of his nodachi, and he would pull the blade out at the first sign of danger. "Bad omens indeed..." Kakeru responded to Kyo who was talking about the Reaper being the first Shadow she ever encountered. And while the Reaper was something that he should never fight, one of those Shadow people, on the other hand, was an interesting opponent to fight. The one who used to be a boy named Kyousuke Fuben. He had encountered him once, and despite losing to him, he hoped to fight him again. |

Naoya shivered at the mention of the Reaper. Alone in the dark, pursued by that dark and terrible figure...he didn't want to remember. Why were they talking about this? Of course, the other route they could go down. "Toru 'n' I woke up 't th' same time. Went 'bout 's well 's can be expected," he said, looking away from the others. The Lightning Bug mirrored his movements and also looked away, seemingly embarrassed. "Weren't this 'n', I don't think...not...er...not sure which way in that un' was." He followed Kyo and Kakeru in, taking up the rear-guard position. Considering his load-out, he felt it best if he weren't in the middle of the group. His weapon was somewhat difficult to control at times. |

Kyo couldn't help wincing a bit when Naoya shivered. His encounter with the Reaper must have been several orders of magnitude above and beyond any of her own on the trauma scale... but then, Kyo had gotten off pretty lucky. She even had an Armored Form specially suited to quick getaways, so there was that, too. When Naoya mentioned awakening at the same time as Toru, Naoya winced a bit harder. She didn't know what kind of person Toru had been at the time--he obviously hadn't been as bad before Aleksandria had done whatever she'd done, but then again, he'd apparently been living in the ruins before that, too, so... ...Where, exactly, had that boy gone so wrong? Apart from the brain damage? It was pointless to think about just then, pointless and more than a bit depressing, so she put that thought aside and just marched onward without any deliberate direction. As she stepped into a set of intersecting hallways--a five-point intersection, how architecturally awkward--she heard a terrified squeaking noise, followed by the sound of slurping slime putting distance between them and itself. Glancing down one of the passages to the right, she just barely caught a glimpse of a Cowardly Maya beating a swift retreat, leaving a faint trail of black in its wake. "I think they're scared o' ya, Kakeru," Kyo noted dryly. Sometimes, she'd noticed, that just happened. It was as if some Shadows just instinctively knew that a Persona-user was too strong for them to have a hope against. It would be a slight problem, though; it meant Kyo needed to find something stronger, strong enough that it wouldn't run away in the face of an impending Kakeru Kagami with his stupid tier-three magic and Almighty spells. She wasn't interested in chasing little Shadows around the whole time she was here, she just wanted something that would stay put and put up a struggle. |

Kakeru just sighed when the slimy Maya ran away from them. Well, it couldn't be helped if he was that strong. "It's not like I can help it..." he said to Kyo. Well, the weaklings wouldn't worth his time, so it would be better to find and battle the stronger ones. While he was thinking about it, he suddenly heard a roar before two Shadows showed themselves. "Ah, now these are the ones that are not afraid of me..." he said casually. Those two Shadows were a pair of Death Ursas, the stronger variation of the weak Armored Ursa. He knew that, from his previous encounter, these bears were immune against physical attacks. "Physical attacks won't work against these things..." he said, putting on his mask. With a roar, one of the bears charged towards Naoya, using Kill Rush as it charged. |

Naoya adopted a ready stance, and didn't draw his urumi -- doing so would waste precious seconds. Raising his shield, he drew back his right arm, directing the lightning bug -- BeeZector? He hated that name, and would call it what he wanted -- to stay behind him. At the same time, Krishna appeared in front of him and unleashed a maragion. Waves of blue fire, similar to that produced by a gas flame, washed over the Death Ursa and filled the hallway in that direction with flame. Perhaps they could dodge through doorways, but he figured that an unfurling conflagration would do the trick. He took the Kill Rush on his shield, feeling the metal dent inward in a worrying fashion. His left arm went numb and he was tossed back, bouncing once on the ground before flipping over and skidding on his front. The lightning bug hovered down by his head, as if checking to see if he was okay. "Ah, c'mon," he muttered to it. "Y' can't do anything t' help me, shock th' damn bear." The bee-shaped automaton zipped toward the bear, stinger extended. Crackling electricity surrounded the blade -- while it may be dulled by the attack, it would hopefully at least shock the ursine giant. Naoya pushed himself up. That had hurt. If he didn't have a resistance to physical attacks, it might have ripped his arm out of the socket. As it was, he had simply lost all feeling in that arm to a dull, throbbing pain. |

Kyo turned toward the two armored bear creatures, frowning slightly at their appearance. She'd never encountered this variety of them before; when Kakeru said they were immune to physical attacks, the girl sighed, and slipped her swords back into their sheaths, loosening her stance, the better to evade whatever they might throw at her. "Great," Kyo said flatly, ducking into a crouch. "I come out here for a workout and what do I get? Shadows y'need a dedicated mage t' fight against. Lovely. Oi, ya big fat tubs o'... fat! Yeah, that's what bears are, right? Big furry balls o' fat, y'all pig out and then sleep the winter away and... actually that sorta sounds like it might be someone's dream lifestyle..." The green-haired girl summoned her mask to her hand as she rambled, and pressed it to her face, not rushing forward--that would be pointless. If physical attacks were out and magic was the only option, it was smarter to fight exclusively by summoning their Personas: it was one of the few circumstances in which the physical training she had undergone at Ayane's direction played second fiddle to the magic side of things, and Kyo, if she was honest... didn't feel terribly comfortable with that. She liked being able to fight without relying too much on magic. It kind of... set her apart from the usual results of the butterfly's stupid kidnapping game, didn't it? She felt good when she could flying kick a monster into submission. Being deprived of that made her feel almost as naked as one of those stupid sheep shadows and their stupid pillows. Kyo couldn't help flinching a bit at the rush of fire that Krishna produced. If that hit her, she would have been fried, moreso than the average user, even. Remembering the effects that more mundane fire-based modes of attack had produced in recent weeks didn't make Kyo any more comfortable with that... Nevan materialized next to Kyo, flipping her hair back over her shoulder (somehow the hair the covered her chest remained firmly in place, almost as if it existed specifically to censor the apparition), and it drifted forward, gracefully extending one hand. For a moment, Kyo was undecided... should she just blast away, or attempt something a bit more subtle? Naoya and Kakeru had more powerful magic than her, so... When the Death Ursa rushed Naoya, and Naoya blocked with his shield, she made her decision. Nevan swooped across the ground while the BeeZector made its bid to electrify the bear, and siddled up close to the monster, reaching out tentatively as if to scratch the monster behind the ear. Its choice of magic to accompany this illogical act? Marin fucking Karin. Naturally. Wouldn't you want a big, cute, fluffy physical-nullifying meat shield of your very own, too? |

Both the bear-shaped Shadows growled when they were hit by Naoya's Maragion. The fire attack did cause quite a significant damage on each of those Armored Ursa. After hitting Naoya with a Kill Rush, the bear that attacked Naoya was struck by the mechanical insect's electrified stinger. The damage caused by the attack was enough to weaken the bear, but the battle was still far from over. Unfortunately, Kyo's Marin Karin didn't work on the other Armored Ursa, and as a result, the armored bear turned its attention towards the only girl of the group. Then, it let out a roar before it charged towards the green-haired girl, but before it could reach her, Kakeru stood on its way, tanking its attack with his own body. "Ngh!" He could hear several cracks as his body took the attack, but he gritted his teeth and launched a Bufudyne at point-blank range. Temperature significantly dropped as the bear was encased in ice before the ice shattered, effectively killing the bear. "Well, that was hurt..." Kakeru commented. He could heal himself later because they still had one more Shadow to deal with. |

Naoya picked himself up, groaning. His left arm still hung limply at his side, and he jerked his shoulder back and forth to test whether it was broken. The adrenaline was probably dulling the pain, he figured, and it was most likely wrecked fairly good. He applied a diarama to it, and then raised his right hand. He charged an agilao, but in the meantime, he set the lightning bug to flitting around the head of the remaining shadow, occupying a fair chunk of its field of vision and dancing back and forth, then circling around, away from its jaws, and then coming back. He flicked his hand several times as the energy for his agilao built, jerking the automaton this way and that away from the no-doubt crushing attacks. It wouldn't cause any damage, but it could most likely distract it long enough for Kyo to deliver a killing blow. |

Kyo wasn't particularly startled when her spell didn't work--in fact, she'd half-expected it, been prepared for it, even. Being too sure of her sleep magic's success had been half the reason she'd gotten head stomped into the sidewalk after. She'd dismissed Nevan the moment the bear turned to attack, been more than ready to dodge out of the way-- --but Kakeru had to go and shield her, and Kyo flinched when the boy took the brunt of the charge, then countered with his own Bufudyne magic. The bear was wiped out, brutally and completely, and Kyo's first instinct was to shout, "Oi, don't be stupid, Kakeru, I was fine, it ain't like I'm still--" But the BeeZector's flitting motions served to refocus her on the fight, and she redirected her feelings toward the last Death Ursa. Nevan reappeared, and purple lightning sparked to life between its hands as it drifted higher and higher into the air on a towering, flapping, living skirt of black wings. Hmph! Rejecting me. Of all the... clearly you animals lack an appreciation for true inner beauty! The Zionga spell as released in the form of a vertical line of colored electricity, spanning from floor to ceiling. It remained fixed in place for a moment, and then, it shot straight across the room, its path set to cut straight across the Death Ursa's body. |

"Sorry. Instinctual reaction," Kakeru responded to Kyo when he shielded her earlier. "Can't help it," he shrugged. And when the Death Ursa was distracted, the Zionga from Nevan hit it, frying it alive. Letting out a weak howl, it fell down to the ground before it died and melted into a puddle of black goo. Sighing, Kakeru removed his mask and cast Diarahan on himself. His injuries faded away before he looked at others. "You guys alright?" he asked. |
