"Of course." She didn't intend for anything less. The cold response she got from Isoroku was the least of Maki's worries at the time. Harken's response was not much better, but she wouldn't fault him for stating a fact that protecting one person was easier than protecting two. If anything the failure to get there in time lied with her, and her alone. Rather than contemplate this further, she pointed back the way she and Rozen had come, and turned sharply on her heels. Her eyes and ears were open for possible trouble, but the halls were strangely quiet. "Charinko-san? I'd like to make sure you got back home safely, I came with a car, and I'd appreciate it if you rode back with me. There's several items I should probably explain to you along the way." There was time for all that later, for now, dropping her guard was no option. Once they were out into the relative safety of the wilderness in the middle of the night and she lead Eri towards her car. She did have parting words for the rest. "Before we leave. I just want to say to all of you that I appreciate you coming out here to help." She bowed, crispy and added. "Thank you, one and all!" With that, she wasn't feeling up for more words, she unlocked and opened the passenger side door for Eri, then walked around the front to the drivers side, ready to head back towards town. "...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

The walk back from the ruins was... ...Quiet. It was quiet and it was weary and more than anything, what weighed on Eri's mind was the fate of Shouta. Maybe, maybe if she had stayed rather than run, she could have helped. Maybe if she hadn't been so slow to cotton onto how to use these powers, she could have done something to save that boy. Maybe. Or maybe Officer Yamada would be dragging two dead bodies out of this place tonight instead of just one. Eri sucked in an almost rattling breath as the entry came into view, and picked up her pace to reach it. When she was out, she sucked in another breath, almost like a drowning woman who'd just barely managed to break the surface of the water in time to avoid a fatal plunge into unconsciousness. She covered her face with her hands for a moment, and then let her hands drop, turning toward the others who had come out here to help her. Rozen Moore, and the three teenagers who had risked their lives--or maybe it wasn't such a risk for them anymore, maybe they were just too powerful with their magic to care, and it was all some kind of game to them. Whatever the case, she owed them. Those three had been the ones who'd reached her before the slime-monsters had. There was no telling whether or not she would have collected herself in time to summon her Persona if they hadn't intervened. Eri nodded toward Maki, and then, after the officer had given her own words of appreciation, Eri looked to those four herself. She opened her mouth, trying to think of some way to express her feelings, the gratitude, the appreciation, the... wish that none of them even had to deal with any of this-- All she managed was a sigh, a bow, and the words: "Thank you. All of you. Just... thank you." Then she turned toward the car. Maki held the passenger door for her, so when Eri reached it, she slipped in, slumped into the seat, put her head in her hands. She didn't immediately reach for the safety belt. Instead she sat there for a moment, looked up, and asked: "Can you... take me to my daughter?" |

Seeing that everything went fine in the end, Isoroku silently slipped away, leaving the others without making them noticing it. As long as Kyo's mother was fine, she's okay with it. She usually didn't do this, but somehow, she didn't feel like saying goodbyes to others. Perhaps it's because of the presence of the policewoman there. Nah, probably she's just overthinking it. |

Rozen waved goodbye as Eri and Maki left in the later's car. After a moment of waving till the car was out of sight, she turned to who's ever left. "Does anyone have a ride?" She asked. "My cab left and I don't want to cut through the backstreets at this time of night." |

"Well then." With that, Harkens and Kaya looked at each other and gave each other a nod. "I guess we're done for the night." "Indeed we are." With that, they gave each other awkward slow nods accompanied with "Hmm, Hmm"'s as they went their separate ways. In Kaya's case, she took one glance towards Kyo's mother before making her way to her motorcycle. Edited by Vect, Dec 2 2013, 04:01 AM.
