Kinzaki looked at Toru, a little confused by what he said before she looked at Hiroko. Then she just shook her head. "I have no problem working with Hiroko-san too," she told the man. After that, both Isoroku and Kinzaki took the communication devices from Rio, and Isoroku flinched a bit when Rio activated her ability. As for Kinzaki, however, she didn't seem to mind it. "So, let's get going now," Kinzaki said, telling everyone to enter the ruins. Her rapier was still hung on her waist. She positioned herself in the middle of the group while Isoroku went ahead together with Hiroko. |

Rio settled into place, and sent a pulse from each of her contacts -- there was a bit of psychic reverb because they were so close to one another -- and began to match it up with the map she'd already built of the part of the ruins near the entrance. She picked up the walkie talkie, and spoke into it: "If you head for the stairway second closest to the entrance -- about sixty meters away, I think? -- and head north, you'll be heading for the new section of the ruins. Don't take the direct route, if you want to avoid shadows. There's a clear shot if you head a bit east and head north at the second intersection, then head back west in four intersections. I think my coverage shouldn't have trouble, but it may get a bit spotty if you go to far. Click once to let me know you heard." [Rio will just be providing scanning coverage -- she might miss the approach of new shadows once everyone's in the next area of the ruins. I'll be running the shadows that she introduces, but otherwise she'll just be listing off weaknesses and skills of note.] |

"Most jokes don't involve pedophilia," Kaede said. She flinched as the Mojo Wire went into effect. That was always uncomfortable, but it was helpful enough she didn't mind too much. She followed after the group, fanning herself with her fan as she walked. "So, what's up with everyone?" she asked in an effort to make conversation, since that was obviously what they needed to do while traversing the monster filled ruins. |

"Many things are 'up,' few of which--apart from the sky and the ruins ceiling, I suppose--I am at liberty to discuss with those not involved," Toru answered, moving to walk to one side of the others, neither too far in front nor toward the rear. He drew his gun as a precaution and holding it in a classic shooter's stance as he walked: angled toward the ceiling, finger off the trigger. "Stairwell second-nearest the entrance; I believe I know the one." Toru acknowledged Rio's directions as soon as they came, and committed them to memory. A bit east, north at the second intersection, and then back west after four intersections. Toru walked quickly, following the designated route, barely registering the barren, familiar corridors, the usual linoleum flooring, the sometimes-flickering fluorescent lights and piping often visible through fallen ceiling-tiles. These were halls he had walked often; Toru was most interested in reaching new ground, and the promise of new truths. SURROUNDED ON ALL SIDES BY SHADOWS OF THE MIND. HERE IS WHERE THE MASKS FALL FREE. NONE HERE ARE CLEAN OF SIN. ONLY THOSE POSSESSED OF A DEEP DARKNESS CAN BE DRAWN HERE: YOU KNOW THIS, DO YOU NOT? Why Raphael felt the need to chime in with this poetic assessment of the bleakness around him, the journalist couldn't say. It made him wary of his compatriots, though, particularly the ones in his vicinity. Kaede Susaki... she had lost herself once, was there any reason to believe she never would again? Hiroko Tachibana... mentally unstable, guaranteed to hurt even those he cared for at some stage, such was the way of things. Kinzaki Kirihara... seemingly so nice, and yet, so ready to involve herself with one such as Fyodor... what did that say? That she was forgiving, or simply that she was not as caring as she appeared? The group did not reach the stairs quite quickly enough for Toru's liking. When they did, he proceeded downward, keeping to formation about as well as the narrow staircase would allow; down, around, and down again, and there they were, in the new section of the ruins. A clear shot between them and the new section--it was a blessing. To be able to achieve some kind of meaningful exploration at long last, in spite of the Reaper's foul presence... |

Hiroko cringed like he'd been poked in the forehead with a long needle. Get out of my head! he thought automatically, suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. He shook his head, feeling a little unnerved as he tagged along, following the directions. |

So, they went towards the direction of the new area. After going through several doors, they would find themselves at the new area, which hadn't been mapped yet. Surprisingly, no Shadows seemed to approach the group as they went to the area. "It's strange..." Kinzaki muttered, looking at her surroundings carefully. Her eyes glowed slightly as she scanned the area and she found no suspicious presence around them, which was kind of odd because this place was usually filled with Shadows. "Let's be careful, everyone..." she told the others. Isoroku nodded, noticing the strangeness. It's her first time coming to this area, so it felt strange to come to such an unfamiliar place. But, thanks to her photographic memory, she would be able to remember this place after seeing it once. It would be useful for mapping the unexplored area. |

There was a chirp as Rio activated the walkie-talkie. "Hello? Is this thing on?" she asked, her nasal voice piercing through the gloom. After a moment, there was another chirp and she spoke again. "There's a bit of a goon squad waiting for you on the skybridge. Five shadows. I'm trying to get a fix on their power level and weakness, but I don't have it yet. Proceed with a bit of caution, and whatever you do, don't turn right. There's a big fish that direction." Below them, down the stairwell, a group of Draconian Shielders had set up as a phalanx on the bridge. |

Kaede scowled at Toru's answer and returned to looking at the path. Who stuck bees up his asshole this morning? Honestly, she didn't trust this guy, nor anyone else in their little exploration party. Actually, the only ones who seemed remotely trustworthy were the druggie with the psychic powers and the awful comic who was fucking Kyo. If it weren't for her own experiences with a different psycho heiress Kaede might have trusted Kinzaki more, but Aleksandria had set too much of an uncomfortable precedent for her case. On that note, Toru seemed twitchy. Maybe she was just reading too much into it, but she found that he was making her really nervous. She was glad when Rio called them over the walkie-talkies as they walked down the stairs. As the skybridge came into view, Kaede lifted the walkie-talkie to her face. "Looks like it's just a bunch of those shield-lizards. I've seen them before; they're not much of a problem so long as they're not in your way. Which they totally are right now." She sighed and lowered the radio. "If I remember right, these guys reflect punches and shit back at you, so we'll have to use our Personas for them. Don't remember their weaknesses, though... anyone want to give a shot first?" |

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

The journalist slowed to a halt at the entrance to the skybridge--the large transparent double-door between him and it doing absolutely nothing to prevent his mind from flashing back to his last time on this very structure, during which he'd been rendered unconscious and nearly killed. Shin Imoto and Kyo Charinko had been the ones to save him, that time... ...but the first thing he noticed was not the Shielders, but the state of the bridge itself. The glass barrier between it and the outside area was shattered, completely. Quite a lot of that glass still littered the floor. Blood... a lot of blood, a trail of it, running from the far end to the door the group stood at. Toru's first thought at the sight of this much devastation was that he would not have been surprised if the Reaper had blazed through here. It took him a moment to shake off this impression of the landscape and zero in on the targets. Being best-suited to long-distance combat, Toru took up a position on one side of the door, looking through the thick, dirtied glass at the enemies beyond. "Five Shadows, barring the path, which reflect physical attacks..." murmured Toru under his breath, as if to imprint what Kaede had told him onto his brain matter. His gun was useless then, for the moment, so he returned it to his jacket. In a clearer voice, he said: "Time wasters, exactly what we do not need. I have no area-sweeping spells--" He held out a hand, preparing a swirl of Hamaon magic, looking from one member of the group to the next. "For the purposes of this fight, I think it would be best to attack all five at once... Mayoi-san, if you would be so kind as to take the first strike, I will attack the first enemy that reacts. Hopefully, I can disrupt their counterattack or, perhaps, prevent them from healing, if they are capable of that. Tachibana-san, if you would follow suit? I shall focus my attention to the left, and you may focus on the right. Hit them fast and hard, give them no chance to re-establish themselves." PURIFY THIS PLACE OF THOSE WHO WOULD BAR THE WAY TO THE TRUTH. STRIKE SWIFT, TRUE, AND WITHOUT MERCY, FOR THE UNCLEAN WILL SPARE NONE FOR YOU IN THIS PLACE WHERE SECRETS FADE AWAY FOREVER. Toru edged toward the doorway, and then, if Isoroku attacked with an area spell as suggested, he would follow behind her, and fling his Hamaon at the first Shielder on the lefthand side to react. Hiroko, could easily do the same. Whether or not Kaede and Kinzaki took up a similar role or joined Isoroku in blasting the enemy away was their choice--Toru had no idea what their skillsets were, having never joined them for any significant period of time in the ruins. |

Hiroko grinned. "Alright, let's do this." he said to himself, summoning Susano-O. The Shinto god hoisted his blade to the sky and a large icicle dropped from above the right Shadow's head. |
