"Chainsaw-chan and I have met before. I imagine if she wanted my balls, she would have tried to take them before now," he said with a shrug. After all, he hadn't given her reason to want them. Wei said nothing as the woman accepted the chainsaw girl's offer of help. Wei hadn't had any intention of doing so, though, it was more trouble than it was -- He looked down, and noted the way the girl was standing, emphasizing the swell of her left hip. It would be unchivalrous to allow these two young women to brave the dangers of the ruins by themselves. Besides: the path of least resistance would be to go along. Sheathing his knife he followed along, his gaze was focused on the posterior of the girl in the spy catsuit in front of them, though, instead of scanning their surroundings for danger. She walked like she knew how to fight. There was a looseness in her joints that people often mistook for simple grace, and it bespoke of quick reaction times. Combined with this, there was a certain haughtiness to her behavior that made him think she was probably pretty well off. Or maybe simply someone used to being listened to. Combined with the shape of her... Drifting off into lascivious daydreaming, he almost didn't notice her stopping. Three enemies, eh? He snapped his fingers, and moved to the front of the group, drawing his knife and tying his wire to the hilt. He wasn't going to open with the knife -- that would be idiotic. If there were three enemies, he needed something that could take out three enemies. Popping through the door, he gave a whoop to attract the attention of the shadows, and immediately cast mazio, radiating lightning out from his body. |

"I said I was sorry, didn't I?" Kaya was about to volunteer before Wei made the first move. If nothing, the Mazio might have softened them up. Peeking through the door, she found that she also couldn't see the shadows, instead casting a Tarukaja on Nishiyo to prepare for any upcoming trouble. Edited by Vect, Oct 20 2013, 05:42 AM.

Nishiyo felt the Tarukaja spell take effect, strengthening her body, her muscles. It was a feeling of power quite unlike the simple knowledge of being able to spawn entropy whenever she damn well pleased... physical power. Knowing she was strong, feeling it in her arms, her legs, even her jawbone. Only one thing would make it better, and it was the very spell she had just now gained. As Wei whistled for the enemies' attention, Nishiyo cast Sukukaja on herself, augmenting that feeling of physical power with increased agility and perception. The world sharpened. She gripped her sword, feeling ready for anything. Everything, even the lightning magic Wei used when the enemy came into view. Only two of the Shadows moved at Wei's whistle, however. The entryway into the bathroom was fairly narrow. It was inevitable that there would be a bottleneck, but when the whistle happened, it was answered by a strange sound: rustling, as if someone were hastily dressing or undressing. The two Shadows that did move to exit, however, demanded more attention than a bit of background noise. When Nishiyo saw what they were-- "--Urrrrgh!--" She let out a sound of disgust, gripped her sword in both hands, and took a step back from the exit. Both of the football-sized moth creatures fluttered into view, and both fell prey to Wei's Mazio magic, causing them to freeze in midair, burning their insectoid bodies. They dropped like weights... and then their wings began flapping again, catching them before they hit the ground. Nishiyo saw what they were doing just in time to call out a warning: "Whoa, whoa, get away from the door!" She scrambled aside, just in time: a Poison Mist emitted from one of the flapping monsters, filling the bathroom's entryway, and then bursting out in a cloud, spreading over the corridor just outside. It didn't completely destroy visibility, though. Wei would be able to see it coming: the second Dust Flier flapped in, swooping through the cloud, attempting not to attack but to land on him. If it landed, it might just have left a little present attached to his shoulder. The sound of rustling was joined by a quiet coughing from inside the room. Then, a choking protest, in distorted, feminine Tokyo dialect: "--gah! Oi, oi, friendly fire! Stupid bugs..." A hasty ripping of fabric followed. |

Wei attempted to hold his breath, but breathed in a bit of the acrid fog. A sickening, oily feeling dripped down the back of his throat, and he felt the urge to both cough and vomit. Of course, he refused to be put out of commission by a moth so he lashed out at the incoming shadow, charging his knife's blade with a muzzle shot and slipping out of the way. There was apparently someone else in the room. If that girl in the spy catsuit and the hood were a scanner, then she would have known about another persona user and proceeded to adjust tactics. That must mean that the person with the Tokyo accent was unawakened. However, the fact that she had identified the lightning spell as "friendly fire" indicated some awareness of the persona phenomenon, or at least suspicion. He narrowed his eyes. Maybe some kind of mimic shadow? There were plenty of those to go around... |

Kaya was able to mostly shake off the fog thanks to the helmet. Still, she'd rather not stick around it and proceeded to release a burst of wind from her body to blow it away. Managing to get a view of the moths, Kaya gestured for the others to get out of her way as she aimed her blade at the bugs. With a pull of a hidden trigger, a gout of flames emerged forward from the chainsaw, aimed at the bugs. Critters burn good, right? |

Critters burn good, but in this case, not much better than anything else. Kaya's little flamethrower customization was only sufficient to ignite the tail-end of one of the Dust Fliers: namely the one that had blasted the area with Poison Mist. The wind that blew away the mist itself seemed to buffet the creatures a little more violently than something of its spellpower really should have when not deliberately focused at them, though, and it was partially thanks to this that Wei's knife connected so directly with the female Flier. The blade slashed a deep gouge in its target's right wing and sent the insect spinning sideways and past Wei, its forward momentum causing it to keep going until it slid to the floor. The moth landed on its side, flapping its one remaining good wing in an effort to get flying again. The other, now more or less in tatters, crinkled up against the floor under the Flier's weight. The other Dust Flier, the male Dust Flier, now aflame, turned away from Kaya and flew straight at Nishiyo-- "--Eh?! Stay back, you stupid bug--" --and like a kamikaze bomber it rose into the air and dive-bombed her. Even with the Sukukaja effect, she wasn't fast enough. She swung her sword diagonally through the air, infusing it with Mudo, which turned out to be a mistake, because instead of cutting cleanly, all the blade did was clip the wing. Then, pain, as the Dust Flier caught her deep in the shoulder with its sting. "AAAGGH!" ...And then proceeded to bowl her over onto the ground. Her sword dropped from her hand, and she beat at the moth with her fists, flailing, snarling-- --With one flap of its wings it tore away from her, leaving the sting behind. The still-flaming bug flapped into the air, once, twice, a feeble attempt to fly away, and then it dropped like a rock. The combination of its own near-suicidal attack and Kaya's flamethrower customization was simply too much for the unfortunate Shadow. Nishiyo twitched in pain on the ground, feeling not just agony from the damn spike embedded in her shoulder, but a spreading burn and tingle from the stinger, it was venomous, venomous--poison--! Panicking, she wrenched the thing from her shoulder, tossed it aside, and began pumping Dia after Dia into the wound. "Poison," she gasped, quite forgetting to channel Diabound's voice along with her own. "Hurts--I--" There was a bloody rip in the shoulder of her catsuit, and she could tell--sense, really, through the magic she was using--that Dia spells wouldn't cut it, she wasn't going to be able to--to wipe this damned thing away, it was too big, too deep, the most she could do was halt the bleeding, ask help of something with stronger magic. The noises from inside the bathroom had continued unabated through this struggle. Only when Nishiyo spoke aloud again did they pause. Then, a quiet snickering could be heard. It sounded almost amused, but mostly, it just sounded unfriendly. Dry. Caustic. Then, footsteps, nearing the bathroom exit at what sounded like a casual walk. |

Wei stepped over to the female dust flier and brought his foot down on the moth-like shadow, it seemed that catsuit girl had gone and gotten herself injured. Of course, Wei lacked the ability to heal and hadn't brought first aid supplies. He wouldn't be able to do a single thing about that. Now, the approach of whoever -- or whatever -- was inside the bathroom was another matter. He sheathed his knife, and unspooled a length of wire and pressed himself against the wall a short distance from the door, away from the nearest source of light. He intended to spring at whoever was coming out as soon as they turned towards his louder temporary compatriots, loop the wire about whatever it was's neck and kick the back of his, her, or its knee. It sounded like a her, though. He was going to assume humanoid anatomy until proven otherwise. Something fishy was happening here, and he intended to be in a position of power when it revealed itself, and the threat of strangulation or decapitation would be more likely to induce cooperation. As an afterthought, he cast a sukukaja on himself. Didn't want whatever it was's reaction time to beat his, after all. |

Kaya saw Nishiyo's wound and quietly cursed that her healing abilities are likely insufficient. Still, her attention turned towards the sound of someone approaching. She followed Wei's lead and pressed herself up against a wall, casting Tarukaja on Wei as he seemed to be the one to take the lead. |

Nishiyo pushed herself shakily up into a sitting position, one hand over her shoulder, muttering quiet curses under her breath. One hand over her shoulder pumped Dia magic steadily into the wound, trying to close it as best she could, but it wasn't happening. It hadn't just pierced flesh--the stinger had wedged itself deep into her shoulder blade, and poisoned her besides. That poison, she could feel it working slowly but surely against her healing magic. Great. Wonderful. Lovely. She hoped it wouldn't leave a mark. Because then she'd have to make up some story to explain that to Katashi, although... it would probably be months before he bothered trying to assert his sexual dominance over her, so it might not be a thing for a long time. No doubt that toad would turn it into an excuse to put her down because somehow that was a turn-on for him (yeah, whatever). Never mind. She turned her eyes to the bathroom door and slowly stood up, trying not to move too much. She heard it coming, and knew she couldn't get into hiding fast enough in this state, so she decided to leave herself vulnerable, visible, perchance to lure it out and into the others' trap more easily. From her current angle she saw the enemy before Wei or Kaya did, just a moment before. It was a girl, a short girl, or what looked like one... dressed in boys' clothing, faded jeans that were a bit biggish for her with ripped ankles--they had probably been too long for this girl-Shadow, and that was what it was, her Detection ability clearly pinged this humanoid thing as a Shadow. The most telling part of the ensemble was the shirt, really, which this person wore in two parts: First, the upper half of the black t-shirt, which she wore over her chest. It was bloodied from what was probably a vicious cut across the abdomen. Her own stomach was toned, fit, healthy, uninjured. The clothes looked like they'd been stolen off a corpse. ...and second, the bottom half of that same black t-shirt, shredded and crudely wrapped around this Shadow's face like a ninja mask and tightly knotted in the back. The only discernible characteristics were fair skin, and eerie, glowing red eyes. Those eyes met Nishiyo's the moment her own moved to its face. This thing was looking right at her and there was something knowing about the look in its eyes... It seemed to be slipping something into its pants pocket as it came into Nishiyo's field of view, but she didn't catch what it was and it was out of sight before the other two would be able to see. This Shadow casually stepped near the door... ...and stopped, putting both of its hands up in a classic gesture of surrender just before it stepped out into the hall. "Heeeeeey, guys. Don't suppose you all might consider just... letting me go? I'm not about to attack you or anything, I'm just a scavenger. Can't run around a cold place like this in my birthday suit, you know! ...Or a shirt this thin, for that matter." the Shadow asked, and then rambled. It glanced to the left, and then to the right, as it spoke, still not stepping out into the hallway. "Now come on, I know I heard more people out here than just Sadako... come out where I can see you at least. This isn't even fair." The hooded, catsuit-wearing girl flinched a bit at the name Sadako. This thing knew who she was? How the hell could it know her name? Now, Nishiyo was still pretty new at the whole Persona-user thing and hadn't thoroughly read through every topic on Bedlam yet, not even all of the recent ones, so the idea that this might be some kind of copy-Shadow almost didn't occur to her. She knew that such a thing had attacked Kyo at some point, but didn't those things have yellow eyes? And this thing was way too short! And scruffy. And Nishiyo wouldn't be caught dead in clothes like that, no, even if she died she intended to leave a beautiful corpse~ ...So what the shit was this shit?! |

The name "Sadako" meant nothing to Wei, considering the fact that Benkei hadn't bothered to share the fact that Amaya Toyama had been murdered by a woman by that name. The situation might have been drastically different if Wei had known: as it stood, all he knew was that there was a shadow asking him not to kill it and he had a length of low-gauge industrial wire looped through his hands. So when she stopped at the threshold, he decided to change his plan. He played out more wire as she spoke, tying a knot around the spool to use it as a weight, only half-listening to her words. He grabbed the loose end of wire in his right hand, holding the spool in his left. The sukukaja and tarukaja should make this workable. Then, he struck. He stepped out in front of her and threw the spool in an arc, so that it was coming in from her right. By drawing his right hand out, he would add tension and hopefully distract her from the fact that she was essentially having a wire noose put on her. Ideally, it would loop around her neck and he could snatch it from the air with the same hand that had thrown it. At the same time, he aimed a forceful kick at her ankles, intending to sweep them from beneath her. He would then take measures to prevent his target from being decapitated, forcing her into a kneeling position if she came forward or straddling her midsection if she fell backwards. While he would have preferred to be behind his enemy, he wasn't about to allow himself to be discovered because of the enemy being cautious. |
