"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

Nishiyo Sadako had come to the ruins for one reason and one reason only: she was angry. Pissed off, royally, to the point where she wanted--no, needed--to do something violent to an inanimate, non-sentient object that no one would get on her case for breaking into tiny little bits. Unfortunately, Katashi liked his furniture. So she had defaulted to the next best thing: Shadows. The girl couldn't help but sway her hips a bit as she walked down one of the outer corridors of the ruins, not far from the main entrance, sword still sheathed at her back. Being back in her leather combat gear, with her hooded and quite opaque mask over her face--it was like, cosplaying as someone really badass, only actually having their ability to fuck stuff up. The feeling of sexiness and power, oh, it was so much better than two days ago, when she'd been locked in bug-infested cell, her clothes reeking of several days' worth of sweat, waiting, waiting for some outside element to get her out... ...No, in here, she was the one in control. She was the one with power. She wasn't Katashi Himura's bitch, she wasn't her father's heir, she was the one calling the shots. In this place, she didn't have to worry about freedom. Here... here, she could be whatever the hell she damn well wanted. A Shadow lurched through a doorway directly in front of her, knocking the door off its sole remaining hinge as it went and causing a clamoring crash on the way out. She turned her masked face toward it, smiling slightly in spite of the imposing creature. She had come this way looking for it, after all, it was just too bad it had noticed her before she'd had a chance to sneak an attack in. This was one of the most basic Shadows, an Armored Ursa... a simple, armor-clad bear monster. Something else emerged from the door behind it... a hand? A black hand, spidering along the floor behind the Ursa like the Thing from The Addams Family. Nishiyo drew her katana, but for now, she didn't care to expend the effort it would take to fight such enemies physically. She had Diabound for that. Blue light erupted around her, and she experience a strange, subtle kind of high as she felt a certain something inside herself--which, until the butterfly had found her, she had never been aware of--rush out and take shape between herself and the enemies. The Ursa snarled, stalking forward... the Groping Hand froze for a moment, and then skittered toward the entity that Nishiyo's mind had produced to confront them. And Diabound, the muscular, dark-skinned and winged figure with a giant cobra where its lower body should have been, extended one claw-nailed hand toward the Groping Hand, blasting it with a Mudo spell. A small bomb of black, entropic magic struck the Hand and swept it from its "feet," sending it tumbling across the floor. The Ursa charged, roaring, slashing a claw through the air at Diabound--but Diabound had already vanished. Nishiyo, standing several feet behind where it had been, waved at the Ursa. "Heheh, too slow~" she said. And then she pointed at the monster, casting Sukunda. The dark haze of magic that emitted from her finger seeped into the Ursa's body, slowing its movements, its perceptions and reflexes--so when it lurged forward again and tried to bite her hand off, she had little trouble getting out of the way, and swinging her sword down upon the struggling Hand, cutting off its fingers with a supplementary helping of dark magic. That insignificant threat began to melt away. Nishiyo held up her sword and sighed when she saw how much gunk was left on it, though. A flick dislodged some of the Shadow-stuff, and she turned toward the Ursa. But then, a blip appeared in her mind, a Persona-user, not a Shadow. She clicked her tongue, and glanced over her shoulder in the direction she could sense them coming from--they had probably entered the ruins just in time to hear the noise this Ursa had made on its way out of that office. Great. Nishiyo had been hoping to avoid other users, since she couldn't be sure who Piglet had told about her... Well. Unless they were already familiar with her, or a scanner perhaps, they wouldn't be able to tell who was under this mask. So there was that. More importantly-- The Ursa roared, and charged at Nishiyo with intent to bash her smack into a wall. She slipped aside--even with the Sukunda slowing it down, it was fast, and furious, and a monster, and it nearly hit her because of that stupid distraction. Ugh. Well, if another user was going to help her kill this thing, Nishiyo thought, they needed to hurry up and do it already. |

Wei heard the roar and took off running. Perhaps his skills were lagging because he stayed close to the entrance, but he had a great deal of fun establishing ambushes and preying on shadows that way. Maybe the ones further in were smarter, but he had gotten quite good at stabbing Hableries, Seers, and Maya before the shadows really knew what was happening. The Ursae were a bit more of a challenge. But that would be his first challenge of the day and there was something he had always wanted to try. He pulled the spool of heavy wire from his long black coat, and wrapped it around his gloved hands as he ran in the direction of the roar, twisting it to make a heavy braid. One sukukaja later and he was ready. Wei approached the ursa from behind, noting that it was menacing a clearly female figure: a fairly well-developed one, too. He was going to guess she wasn't a high school student. So points for style were a goal here. He grinned behind the wicker mesh of his mask and dashed forward, hopping up and pushing off the small of the bear's back. He swung the wire down, hoping to get it under the shadow's jaw or -- better yet -- in the mouth, behind the teeth. As soon as he felt a catch, he intended to jerk back and channel zio through the wire. He had no idea how durable its head or neck were, but experience told him that actually trying to choke a shadow wasn't usually even possible. |

As the bear found itself tied up, it also found itself being shot from behind. Kaya, dressed in her normal combat gear, slowly walked towards the bear, with Callahan casually checking the ammo of it's revolver. Raising the gun, it delivered a Muzzle Shot at the beast, possibly sealing whatever abilities it might have. "Thank you." "Hmm." With that, Kaya stabbed her chainsaw forward with explosive force, augmented by a self-cast Tarukaja. Edited by Vect, Oct 16 2013, 08:35 PM.

A second blip followed the first; the Ursa turned away from both, intent on the obvious prey. If a pair of other users managed to get the jump on this thing, Nishiyo wasn't about to complain... as long as she got the killing blow in. She wanted to be the one to lay this one low. In here, nobody cared if she killed things--everyone else was doing it! It was only outside, in the light, where people cared what lived and what died. In here, people were more honest. They saw their enemies and they did what they had to, to get ahead. Trampling the lives of these things in order to get stronger... Just like real life, only, people were justified because these were Shadows instead of "people." It was quaint, really. The Ursa stalked forward... bearing down on her, opening its maw, intent on ripping her to shreds. Nishiyo couldn't help but feel a twinge of annoyance at the fact that the first Shadow she'd encountered here exclusively used the method of attack she was most vulnerable to. Even lightning bolts and fireballs would be less damaging if they hit. She saw the approaching figure, and then the second one... She took a step back. It took its first step forward, at the edge of beginning its charge-- And then the man in the wicker mask leaped atop it, catching it in the mouth with some kind of wire and then gloriously electrocuting the thing! Nishiyo took one step back, watching as the bear's large body gave an almighty, stumbling jerk in response to the electricity channeled through it--and then, the second figure made their move. This, however, didn't seem to be as effective; Callahan's Muzzle Shot glanced off the Ursa's armor, producing a heavy dent but otherwise not much sign of damage. The chainsaw was a bit luckier--it found a vulnerable spot between armor chunks and dug into the Ursa's flesh, but it went in rough, hard, its roaring blade slowed and impeded by the monster's physical resistance. The Armored Ursa roared, tried to flail and lurch around to strike Kaya with a Cleave-infused swipe of its claw. The movement was slow and clumsy, though, and slowed by Nishiyo's Sukunda spell. Nishiyo, for her part, stepped forward, smirking beneath her face-concealing mask. She didn't know who these two were yet, so she wasn't about to use her very obvious Kansai voice... but... "Heh, I could've taken him," she said, attempting a trick she'd tried in the privacy of her own room--distorting her voice with Diabound's own, though in her case the effect was jarring--its voice was masculine, hers feminine, the result being less a change of her voice and more an over-laying of its voice on top of hers, obliterating the accent: it sounded like two voices speaking in perfect sync with each other, one masculine and one obviously a girl's. "Still, I appreciate the assist..." The leather-clad woman held out the palm of her left hand, a crackling build-up of Mudo enveloping the hand. A moment later, she fired it off. It struck the monster's flank, corroding its armor and causing some of its fur to grey and fall out, leaving a small bald patch visible between plates. |

Wei pulled himself higher when the chainsaw girl appeared and shot at it from behind and then attempted to chainsaw it, stabbing into the bear's armor between his legs. "Careful with that shit!" he yelped, looping his legs up over the beast's shoulders. "Away from the goods!" He was now hanging onto the beast's head, his long coat hanging low, just above the chainsaw that Kaya was attempting to drive into it. He continued feeding electricity into the ursine shadow's jaws, tugging backwards. The wire would have been cutting any normal creature rather severely, but it didn't seem to have such an effect on the shadow. At least it was conductive. |

"Guy's got a point. That thing there's gonna cause some collateral damage." Nodding quietly to herself, Kaya jumped backwards to avoid the swipe from the Ursa. She did however note the parts of the armor that fell out. "Think you can hit that?" "Who you think you're talkin' to?" With that, Callahan appeared once again, this time precisely aiming at the weak points of the bear. With that, it delivered a piercing bullet of Wind at the creature. The wire was cutting into the bear's jaw... a little. Its resistance to the physical damage, combined with the simple perspective of being above and behind the bear made it difficult to tell. More importantly, the ongoing flow of electricity combined with the Sukunda spell impaired the monster's ability to move in any kind of precise way. As attempted to take another swipe at Kaya, her Persona's wind-bullet drilled into its side, causing it to stumble quite violently... Nishiyo saw her chance--sword in hand, she rushed forward, black energy enveloping the blade. The Ursa changed direction, the claw it had intended for Kaya swinging at Nishiyo instead, but she was too fast--she ducked, slipped underneath it, and stabbed her Mudo-soaked katana straight into the very same injury that Callahan had just inflicted. She felt a mild shock from Wei's electric spell channel through her sword and into her fingers, but she was fine with that... electricity couldn't damage her as critically as most, her Persona resisted that mode of attack, and she had Dia to heal what damage it had inflicted. The woman snarled a snarl distorted by the same voice she had produced before, channeling Diabound's, and ripped her sword out from the Ursa, away and sideways. The strain on her arm muscles was worse than the electricity, her snarl became a pained one halfway through... ...But the Armored Ursa gave a pitiful roar, and began to stumble sideways. The wounds were fatal--it was inevitably dead. All that was left was for Wei to get out of the way. Because you see, that's a pun. ---

Wei removed his gloved hand from the twist of wire and slid down to the ground. He quickly spooled it back up, noting that the black gunge that the shadow had bled onto the wire was already flaking and turning to a fine powder. He dusted off his coat and inspected it for tears, then narrowed his eyes at Kaya. "While I'm not about to object to help, you mind being careful of the coat and my junk, chainsaw-chan? I came down here to kill shadows, not to become a soprano. Though I guess I'd be more of a contralto, but still." He turned and considered the other -- obviously feminine -- figure, and sized her up. Perhaps she was of age. First that mall-goth with the perverted younger brother, and now a chick in a spy catsuit. Finally some women he didn't feel creepy hitting on. Hell of a voice, though. When he grinned, it showed too many teeth to really be a comforting expression. "Nice find. Armored bear. Been meaning to try to ride one of those for a while, now. Didn't work out like I'd planned...but, eh." |

After the battle was over, Kaya proceeded to shake off her chainsaw and inspected it for any wear and tear. Hearing Wei's comments however, she turned towards the man and gave him a nod. "Acknowledged." She then focused towards Nishiyo and offered a few words of her own. "You did well. Would you mind if I accompanied you for the remainder of this excursion?" |

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"

"That's an awfully mechanical answer to 'you almost sawed my balls off,'" noted Nishiyo without any real heat, crossing her arms over her chest as she regarded Kaya and considered her question. Maybe it was the effect of wearing this kind of outfit, but she couldn't help leaning a bit to one side as she did; the effect was that her hips were particularly emphasized on the left. "I wouldn't mind some backup, really... I'm kind of fragile, you know?" Nishiyo let out a little chuckle, her head shifting slightly to signify that she had acknowledged Wei, and perhaps wouldn't mind a big, strong man to help her out on that front. Then, she turned her back on the two, beckoning them to follow if they wished, and began to walk. If they didn't know who she was, she had no reason to fear them stabbing her in the back out of nowhere... after all, even she didn't stab people in the back without a reason. If she killed without reason, wouldn't that be exactly what her father wanted? She couldn't help doing it if it was what she wanted, but that was her own choice. Hers. Not his, hers. Hers, and no one else's~ ...It didn't take long for her to find a blip... three blips, in fact! Oh, goody, and she'd just gotten herself two allies, too. Just enough to even the numbers. Nishiyo quickened her pace, following the blips down the hall, to the right... and to a door that stood just barely ajar, in front of which she stopped. The sign on the door signified that this was a mens' restroom. Charming. Unfortunately, that meant that when she looked in, all she could see was a bit of tiled floor and a divider wall meant to conceal the inside of the room from the outside. So she couldn't tell what was in there. Fabulous. "There are three Shadows inside," she said, glancing back--she had assumed they would both follow, but a fleeting thought occurred: it would have been funny if the wire-man had just shrugged and walked off in another direction. "I can't tell what they are, though, just that they're there. So, who wants to be brave and be the first one to charge on in?" |
