Maybe Worth It; [open]

There was no music club that day and she was off work. It was a rare sort of day. However she didn't quite know why she was here. Kazue had said she wouldn't be going into the ruins much and she had meant it at the time. The place had a strange attraction though. A weird sort of resonance.

She had changed into the old and serviceable clothes that she thought of as her exploration gear and now waited outside the entrance. The sheathe of her grandfather's Ka-bar felt rigid and comforting against her right hip -- somehow the blade felt like an extension of her arm when she used it. Like she had been fighting with it for longer than she had been. She didn't know if anyone else would be coming but it seemed like a fair bet that someone would show up heading in. She figured she would see if they didn't mind her tagging along if so.

It was an odd experience: waiting for some potential person to show up at some undefined time to go into a dark and dangerous place with. It seemed unwise to her. For some reason, though, it held a certain attraction. Perhaps she had been living too carefully until now. Maybe the danger seemed -- somehow - to be worth it.

Kazue wouldn't have to wait too long before someone came along. A small, dark blue car approached along the trail, then pulled into a clearing. From where she was, she could clearly see a tall redheaded woman in old, sensible clothing step out of the drivers side, and approach the trunk. There she donned a sturdy dark armored vest a short-barreled shotgun and a belt studded with more shells.

The woman was loaded for bear, and she approached the ruins entrance, she kept the scattergun carefully pointed to the ground and away for safety's sake. She nodded to Kazue and smiled politely as she spoke. "Hello, are you going in, or did you just get out?"

Those were the two most likely reasons why one would be loitering around the entrance of the ruins. Either they were waiting for someone to meet them there, or waiting for a friend to exit the ruins.

Maki was definitely going in. She understood she had to improve her Persona to its fullest potentiality as quickly as possible. The only way to do that was to make the most of every window of opportunity she had to dispatch Shadows before the reaper would respond. The matter of rescuing potential new users who would otherwise be at the mercy of Shadows was likewise a high priority for her.

Kazue looked up and arched an eyebrow. That woman -- who was also tall and red-haired, it turned out -- was armed with a rather significant amount of ordinance. She blinked.

"Oh. I'm going in. I figured someone would eventually show up and I could see if they wanted to work together. I'm Kazue Morin."

She rocked forward on her feet away from the wall she had been leaning against. Her hand was half extended in an offer to shake when she realized what country she was in and stopped herself. After a brief second of deliberating, she bowed.

"So how about it? I've got healing and some weak attack magic."

"My name's Maki Yamada." She wasn't totally unfamiliar with the handshake as a greeting. but when Kazue aborted it in favor of the more traditional bow, she somewhat awkwardly complied. She must have moved from someplace where that custom was commonplace.

"I can't heal, but I have two varities of attack spells, and I can speed up myself or others. I think that's called…"

Sukukaja.

"…sukukaja. I'd not mind the company. Kazue-san." She chanced to go with her first name. One western custom she hoped she'd appreciate. "I don't imagine you'll be exploring too deeply. Please, stick with me, and you can just call me Maki, if you prefer."

Suzu had forgotten something. But what?

That thought kept mulling over and over in her head, but she couldn't find the response while walking through the woods in the direction of the forest. Persona? Check. Cellphone? Double check. New bat? Check the hell outta that.

So what!?

As Suzu arrived at the entrance, she spotted a fellow club member and some unknown woman chatting about going together into the place.

'...Oooooh, I forgot to call up someone...'

You idiot.

'If y're callin' me an idiot, y're callin' yerself an idiot, y'idiot.'

I know. I'm an idiot for being here.

Suzu rolled her eyes and approached the duo. "Ooooi! Ya girls mind if I tag along?" She really didn't feel like waiting for someone else to come so she could bash some shadow's head in.

Kazue smiled when Maki said -- essentially -- not to bother with honorifics. "And you can just call me 'Kazue.' I forget honorifics a lot so I appreciate it. And no, I won't be going that deep."

She was about get up and head on in when Suzu arrived. She was a persona user? That came as a revelation and she wasn't quite sure if it was a welcome one or not. Of course she had no problem with Suzu -- the girl just seemed irresponsible.

"Oh. Hey Suzu. I didn't know you had a persona," Kazue said, her voice simultaneously tired-sounding and surprised. "Sure you can come along. I don't think there's a problem with that?"

She glanced over at Maki at the last. She sincerely didn't have a problem with it but the older woman was the one with the shotgun; Kazue figured it best not to antagonize her at all.

"None at all." Despite the fact there was always a degree of tension about being near the ruins for her. She didn't let it show, she smiled at Kazue with an unworried attitude.

"I'm sure if the three of us cooperate we might be able to get some effective training done."
It seemed that the two young women knew each other from school. Again, one of the first things she learned was that the near-majority of Persona users were Taiyotono High students.

"Pleased to meet you Suzu, you can just call me Maki."
For a number of reasons: Being by far the best armed of the three, as well as the oldest and confident in her ability to handle dangerous situations, Maki intended to go in first. So far? It looked safe enough for the others to follow.

"Hey, Kazue." Suzu took the chance to regain her breath from the long hike as they talked. "I knew ya had one. Analysis." She noted, since that sort of thing would definitely be of good use for the exploration.

"Maki?" Suzu blinked for a few moments, commenting to herself more than anything. "Isn't that bubuzuke's nickname...?" She then shook her head, getting back to focus.

"Uhhh, right. Let's go then?"

Analysis? Did that mean she could sense other people's personae? Must be handy.

"Well...probably a good idea to get going, then."

She pulled out her flashlight and flipped it on, pointing it down the stairs. Before she went down she paused. "Maki? Given that you've got that gun...would you mind going first?"

She could hear something skittering around down in the lobby. If Suzu bothered to scan, it would turn out to be a pair of whimpering seers sniffing at the exit.

"Well, I don't know who this 'Bubuzuke.' You're referring to, but I'm pretty certain it was my given name first in this case."

In response to Kazue's suggestion that she go on ahead, she nodded. "Yes, please stick behind me for the time being." If there was immediate trouble, she was of course the best equipped to deal with it, so it only made sense she was up front.

The sounds were enough to alert Maki to the presence of Shadows. She kept the barrel level and moved down cautiously. Upon first contact with something like the seer's Maki's first instinct would have been to take aim with her gun and fire off a quick shot.
