One moment, Seiji was seeing a scorpion slung towards him. Then he was seeing it's stinger up close. then? Mostly red. Does pain have an image? Yeah, he saw that too, then. Though what he saw immediately after that was only half of his field of vision.

Anyone who got a good look at him could clearly see why, the scorpion landed in a way that had it balance on his glasses at juuuust the right angle to catch him right in the right upper eyelid. The venom injected inside caused it to swell up to a nearly grotesque degree, forcing his eye shut and leaving the skin on the affected area a very unhealthy purple.

"…MOTHERFUCKFUCKINGSHITHELLGODDAMNSONOFASTEETWALKER!" Clutching his eye, Seiji dropped, rather unceremoniously to the ground.

"Oh, oh god…" Hanako tried to made quick work of the scorpion with an Aqua spell before it could skitter away but ah…the damage was done, wasn't it?

Aleph sighed in relief as the last of the scorpions were destroyed. Seriously, scorpions fired from slingshots on unicycles? That sounded like the type of monster character thing that Aleph would come up whenever he had too much time on his hands. Regardless, everyone was safe, at least for now.

"Well, that actually ended well." Aleph said, then heard Seiji yell and saw his swollen eye. "Sort of."

Illegal in five countries.
"Hmm?"

Turning to Seiji, he winced at the swelling of the eye. Must be a stray scorpion sting.
"Well, no victory without sacrifice, I suppose. Kind of like preserving royal blood with incest. Let me try something."

With a twinkle of his hand, he casted a Dia over at the boy. It might help. Marginally.

Well that was....a surprisingly easy fight...Shou couldn't help but feel disappointed and relieved at the same time. He wanted to blow off steam, but still, this wasn't a game. They were trying to rescue someone and it would do no good to exhaust themselves with intense battles before actually reaching their target.

The sound of Seiji screaming brought his focus back. The boy turned with a frown and inspected the boy. His eye was swelling. "Shouldn't we...suck out the poison?" He spoke as he knelt down. He didn't know how much a dia could do or if a shadow scorpion poison worked the same as regular.

Still if wouldn't be any good to leave it in his system...

Oh my God, I LEFT THE STOVE ON AT HOME!

"We can't afford to slow down." said Atsushi coldly. His shoulder felt a little numb, but he had an objective and wasn't going to stop for anything. He spotted a lone Whimpering Seer and held up his hand. "Life Drain."

Ribbons of green light flew from the Seer and into Atsushi's fingertips. The Seer writhed as Atsushi continued to sap the life out of the helpless Shadow until it collapsed into ichor. Atsushi briefly looked down at his hand then kept going. Shiori grimaced at how calmly Atsushi killed the Shadow. "Geez, he's ruthless..." she whispered to Kyo.

"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
Kyo stopped dead, and glanced back with a blank expression. She stared when she saw Seiji's eye, and then sighed when Shou asked about sucking the poison out. "For fuck's sake, Shou..." Kyo grunted. "We have magic, dammit. Don't any of ya have magic that can cure poison?"

To Shiori, Kyo said, "He's right, though, clock's a-tickin'. But Seiji's the only one here who can guide us down a clear path, so--"

Kyo pointed a finger at Atsushi's retreating posterior, and fired a small, small, low-voltage jolt of purple electricity at it.

"Oi, happypants!" she snapped. "Hold up a sec, jeez. You're like that guy who walked inta the Forest of Eternal Darkness in too much of a rush t' grab a flashlight on the way."

Atsushi turned around and yelped, and for a split second, there was a look of inhuman hunger. His mouth was curled up in a snarl, and his eyes were raw bloodlust. He then shook his head, as if shaking himself from a dream. He looked impassive then. "My idiot brother's at death's door. I'm going down there to save him, and I will keep going regardless of who dawdles behind. Do I make myself clear?"

"You could be a bit nicer." said Shiori flatly. "I would be nicer if this wasn't an urgent matter." replied Atsushi.

A Repentant Gibbet and three Monochrome Seers were just around the corner.

Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fucking bastards…

Seiji forced himself to his feet, it was a bit uncomfortable, but he'd live. What was displayed in his field of vision was good enough.

"…h-hit everything ahead with darkness spells and let's get on with it, time's a wasting. They're in the way of the quickest path down. Absolutely no light spells though." He didn't come there to waste time. He didn't come there to bitch about injuries. He didn't come there to deal with annoying self-important pricks.

He came there with a specific task in mind and they were on a short time schedule. It wasn't just pain, or swelling. There was an overwhelming, uneasy queasyness and that quickly gave way to sharp painful sensations radiating from his gut to everywhere, cold sweats and nausea.

His katana in it's sheathe made a good cane. At least that way he was able to force himself forward without doubling over.

"I can't, sadly." The most she could hope to do was give him an occasional Dia spell. She'd suffered poison with no relief herself and she wouldn't wished it on…okay, that's a lie, she'd totally have wished it on Rei Takeda and Nishiyo Sadoko. Constantly.

So they were continuing on in the ruins. The other boy didn't look quite happy about Kyo zapping him out of nowhere, nor did he seem to care about leaving anyone behind.

If only you could be like that.

Anyways, it seemed like they were about to run into more Shadows. Seiji didn't exactly look healthy, probably because of the unicycle slingshot scorpion things. So, Aleph prepared easily by casting a quick Dia on Seiji before they had to face whatever was ahead.
