"Well then. Tally-ho, gentlemen and women!"

With that, Harkens stood upright and gave a salute as he followed the group. If nothing, the group certainly isn't lacking in numbers.

Still wouldn't want to stick around for too long.

After a small sigh, Shou met Atshushi's gaze. Giving him a look that conveyed his understanding. Honestly that had just been his attempt to lighten the situation a bit.

But this wasn't a game...

"Right, lets go." He nodded, stepping after the others. Shit the last time he'd been in the ruins had been the whole Beetle incident thing...He still wasn't sure how everyone got out of that alive.

"Right, let's get started." said Atsushi. "I'll take point. Everyone else, behind me." Shiori got behind Atsushi as the CEO walked into the ruins with intent to rescue his dumbass brother.

Atsushi looked around, searching for Shadows or the exit- preferably the latter. After a few minutes of wandering, he saw four approaching Shadows from down the hall, but he couldn't quite tell what they were...

"Incoming Shadows..." warned Atsushi.

Down on the next floor, Sanjuro was resting, trying to regain some energy- hopefully, enough to bust open the holding cell.

[OOC: Anyone want to pick Shadows?]

And those four Shadows were...

Kyo blinked, staring at the approaching shapes with disbelieving eyes. Were those giant slingshots on unicycle wheels? ...They were. Oh wow.

"Um--" Kyo began, but then the rubber bands on the sling-shots pulled back, one after the other. Something appeared in each... four identical somethings, in fact, all with multiple legs and vicious-looking stingers and--"Oh, fuck. Scorpions."

Scorpions they were! And with four rapid snaps, those scorpions launched through the air, one at Hanako, one at Atsushi, one at Aleph, and one at Harkens. That last sailed right past Kyo's head, causing her to twitch rather hard. Then, a crackle of purple lightning in her hand, and--

--she thrust her palm out, blasting the nearest of the unicycle-slingshot-things with a Zionga spell. The creature/monster/slingshot/whatever-it-was reeled back, shuddering as a few little bits of its rubber wheel began to smoke.

But what of the others?

...Oh, come on, they're just bugs. No worries there, right? Right?

"Are you serious?" Seiji muttered with a bit of irritation as he fired a Hama at the nearest of the two. "These things are called Sling Shot Scorpions."

"…ARGHBLGH!" With a quick, instinctive reaction, Hanako snapped around and slammed her teeth down on the tail of the scorpion as it sailed at her face mid flight. Why not? It kept her from getting stung at least, though sadly a Shadow would be a poor source of protein, no matter what anyone told you. She spat it out asides and attacked the nearest of the four unicycle things with an Aqua spell.

Upupupupu~!
Ahh! Scorpions fired from slingshots on unicycles! What madness was this?

"KYAHH!" And then Aleph hit the floor and covered his head, watching as the scorpion sailed over him. Were the ruins just getting weirder and weirder or what? Either way, this was not good. Aleph quickly got back and up and and fired a Maragi at the unicycle things. One of those fireballs had to hit something, surely.

"Bugger fuck! Damned arachnid fiend!"

With that, Harkens extended his arm as he tossed out a Margilao at the beasts. Certainly wouldn't be the first time he set scorpions on fire. He couldn't quite remember whether they're flammable or not.

Still, the idea of scorpion slingshots gave him wonderful ideas that he might put to work after this.

Sling shot Scorpions...Well take a serious situation and add a stupid ass shadow into the mix...At least the ruins were always interesting. The boy let out a sigh, but kept at the ready. The last time he'd underestimated a shadow he'd ended up nearly naked in front of Taketo, THEN he'd be poisoned...so that was fun.

The boy quickly summoned jack and launched a mudo towards the one Hanako was attacking, hoping a double team would take it out faster.

The Scorpion hit Atsushi in the shoukder. Atsushi grunted, gritting his teeth. He pulled the Scorpion off of his shoulder, throwing it to the ground and stomping on it. "I don't have time for this!" snapped Atsushi, summoning Leviathan. The sea-monster let out a low, thundering roar that echoed through the ruins before raining icicle shards down on the Shadows. Shiori stepped behind Atsushi, summoning Rapunzel to launch an Agi at the Scorpion that Kyo zapped.

A water spell from Hanako, a Light spell from Seiji, and a Mudo from Shou were more than enough to blast the nearest slingshot-thing off its singular wheel and to the ground, twisted and dented from the pressure, rusted in place and bleached white in others, where it died and thus, melted.

Two area-sweeping fire spells, plus one area-sweeping ice spell, though? Overkill.

Aleph, Atsushi, and Harkens produced quite the interesting effect: first, the slingshots were set made to glow a faint red, and then, that glow was extinguished by a hail of ice-spikes that left all of the Shadows steaming instead of frosted over.

And then, they were engulfed in even stronger fire: the result was that, when the magic cleared, the three remaining Sling-Shot Scorpions were stuck to the ground, the wheels of their tires melted and smoking with a vile stench. And when each of them tired to fire off another scorpion (one at Seiji, one at Harkens, and one at Shou), the force of their own shots sent the slingshot-bodies rolling backward on the stuck wheels, thumping to the ground helplessly.

Vulnerable.

"Well," Kyo said, snapping her fingers to summon the alluring form of Nevan the Lightning Witch into being, which in turn sent six bats, two apiece, flapping toward the Shadows. "That was a waste o' time."

And then both she and her Persona snapped their fingers again. Each of the bats emitted a bolt of purple lightning at its designated target, the Mazio spell easily electrocuting each of the remaining Shadows and reducing the injured things to pools of dissolving sludge.
