Kinzaki continued to smile. "Do not worry. An honest person like me doesn't play with fine print," Kinzaki explicitly told Shinta about the contract. "And unlike you, I am not a woman of my word, because I can hardly trust 'words', or specifically, 'spoken words'. If anything, I trust the printed ones."

She looked at her bodyguard, Kiyo.

"Kiyo-san, will you please prepare me the contract?" she asked. "The one specifically made for this occasion, you know that?" she tilted her head while smiling cheerfully. Kiyo nodded before she left to retrieve the specific contract.

"And if you're worried about this 'contract', I assure you..." Kinzaki looked back at Shinta. "I will not do anything like 'extortion' or 'blackmail' to you. After all, I will make sure that it can give us a 'win-win' situation..."

"I'll believe it when I see it." said Shinta gruffly. He crossed his arms and waited.

This person was difficult, Kinzaki thought to herself. Well, she still had more secret weapons to deploy later. So, while waiting for the contract, she talked to Shinta.

"Okay, let me be honest here..." Kinzaki said. "You have learned my butler's secret, and while I will normally not allow that to happen, I'll give you an exception this time, but only with one condition..." she brushed aside her golden locks as she looked at Shinta.

"In exchange for knowing my butler's secret, I want you to work for me, as my employee..." Kinzaki said honestly. "It's better to be careful, right? By keeping you around, I will be able to make sure that the secret won't be spread around like wildfire."

"So... do you have anything to say, Shinta-san?" she asked.

"What if I say no?" asked Shinta. "I don't see why I need to work for you so long as I stay quiet..."

"You don't understand, Shinta-san..." Kinzaki said, still smiling cheerfully. "It doesn't matter whether you remain quiet or not, but I cannot risk having an outsider knowing the secret..." she said. "Let's compare it to a secret only a corporation should know. You don't want outsiders to know the secret, right? Get it so far?"

Kinzaki brushed her hair aside as she continued. "So... I cannot work on 'as long as I stay quiet'. I'd rather prefer 'as long as I stay quiet and under her surveillance'. And it's not like I'm forcing you to do anything..." she tapped her finger on her chin. "I just want to make sure that you become an insider who can be trusted. We cannot trust an outsider."

"And we cannot build a relationship in business based on trust only," Kinzaki said. "Do you know how many companies fall into bankruptcy because they trust others so blindly? Don't give me 'the honor of a man' to me, Shinta-san. In business, honor isn't worth a penny. All we need is a sealed agreement..." she smiled. "And you have no choice but to say 'yes'..."

"Oh really?" asked Shinta. He looked around. "I don't see a gun pressed against my head." He glared at Kinzaki. "So where's this damn contract? I want to read it before this conversation goes any further."

It was evident that Shinta was losing his patience. If Kinzaki took a good look at Shinta, she'd notice his eyes had a faint red glow.

Kinzaki didn't want to let herself be intimidated by Shinta's glare. "Oh, don't worry. It'll come shortly after this. After all, it doesn't sound bad, right?" she was still smiling, even though Kinzaki's remaining bodyguard seemed to tense up after seeing Shinta's glowing eyes.

Seeing that she might have given Shinta a wrong impression, she thought about using another approach.

"Well, I apologize, then. I don't mean to anger you, Shinta-san..." she said. "I think I cannot use this approach to you, after all..." she sighed. "But, I really wish to trust you. I really wish that. But..." her shoulders drooped a bit. "...I don't want to lose my butler. She's important to me. Can you imagine how difficult it was to maintain the illusion of her being a male? If that flimsy illusion is shattered, she may have to stop being my butler..."

After sighing, Kinzaki continued. "I understand that you don't want to be pushed to the corner, but there's something that I want you to understand, Shinta-san. I love my butler, and I don't want to lose her, and I'm willing to do anything to keep her by my side..." she smiled to Shinta. "So... in order to make sure that she'll remain by my side, I want to make sure that the secret will be safely kept, and is guaranteed to be kept safe too."

"We want a solid proof so that Subaru will not have to worry about her secret anymore, and that solid proof is your agreement to work for me," Kinzaki said. "I promise to you that it will also be beneficial for you as well."

"Excuse my French, but to be quite frank I find the idea that Subaru needs to be viewed as a guy for her to be your butler to be utter bullshit."

Shinta didn't pause for Kinzaki's reaction to his swearing. "If she wants to be your butler, does it matter whether she's a guy or a girl? She should just be honest about herself. There's nothing saying that a butler has to be a guy. Hell, it would be easier for her if she just dropped the act! In the words of William Shakespeare, 'to thine own self be true'-Trying to be something you're not just isn't healthy behavior."

"..."

Kinzaki was silent for a while after hearing Shinta.

"That's an interesting option. It's easier for her to be what she actually is than to pretend as something else, but..." she glanced aside. "Would you like to hear her opinion?"

And there was Subaru, who was already in her uniform. She was already there when Shinta was ranting about her not being her true self.

"..." Subaru was silent for a while as she looked at Shinta. "Probably you are right..." she said. "Yes, you are absolutely right. I'm tired of this pretending already, trying to be something something I'm not, but..." she went to Kinzaki's side. "...this is something that I have decided. Whether it's wrong or not... this is my decision..."

"See?" Kinzaki said to Shinta. "That's what she said. She can just stop the charade and starts becoming herself, but what will happen if she does that? There is uncertainty, she cannot think of anything what is ahead of her if she starts being herself. Or she can just continue pretending, and while she may not be able to see happiness, at least she can see what is ahead of her. At least she can prepare for anything that may come to her..."

"To be or not to be, that is the question..." Kinzaki said. "She has to choose whether to stop pretending and have to face uncertain happiness or continue with the pretend and have to face the absolutely certain bitterness."

Then, Kinzaki shrugged. "But enough with that. I guess I cannot convince you with that..." she sighed. "Alright, there is no need for you to sign the contract. But I will always welcome you in case you change your mind."

Her smile unwavering, she continued, "After all, you can ask me for money in case you're having a financial problem, or other thing..."

Shinta shrugged. It was Subaru's decision, not his. "Just out of curiosity, what would this job entail?" Shinta didn't really need the job, whatever it was- he was making money from winning bouts at fight club. But it wouldn't hurt to keep his options open...
