"...does this clockwork hand follow you... or guide you?"
"I can still help with healing and support... yeah," Takeo murmured. But that triggered a somewhat unrelated thought: this girl, who had been born blind, was a Persona-user.

This girl who had been born blind had been lured to the ruins. Had been trapped there with no eyesight. Oh God...

Why that hadn't hit him sooner was a mystery to Takeo, but there was a stricken look on his face that drew Masumi's attention. The fortune-teller leaned in, and said, "Hm? Takeo-san, is something wrong?"

Kyo quirked an eyebrow, but Takeo shook his head and said, "I-It's fine, just thought of something, is all." Turning his head in the direction Kumiko's voice came from--and then realizing how pointless the action was--he forced his expression into something more neutral. "It's not really about my achievements, but... I guess this isn't what you're here for. I don't want to waste your time with it. Sorry, just... this is the first time I've really let myself think about what I am going to do."

The green-haired girl folded her arms and scowled. "Seriously, dude? What have ya been thinkin' about this whole time, then? Table-tennis?"

Masumi frowned, but then Takeo shook his head. "Mostly, I've been thinking about Tsubaki," he said quietly. Kyo, now both visibly and audibly abashed, gripped her elbows and simply said:

"...Ah."

Reaching out to the bedstand, Takeo retrieved his cane, setting it across his knees and tapping a thoughtful finger on its metallic surface. "Walking is one thing," Takeo said slowly, "but that's just... getting from place to place. I think what I need the most help with is doing other things... like... cooking... reading... all that day-to-day stuff that sighted people take for granted. When I think about working without eyes it seems simple, but even something like the buttons on my mp3 player were harder to work than I thought they'd be. I need to be able to take care of myself. I don't want to force Tsubaki to have to do everything for me. It's bad enough that she's... so wound up about the attack."

Tsubaki... judging by Takeo's tone, this "Tsubaki" was probably someone Takeo lived with - he seemed too young to be married, so the safest assumption was that she was a girlfriend of sorts. "I understand, Takeo-san... do not expect the first weeks - or even the first months - to be easy. You will need to learn a lot of things all over again. It will be hard, but you will make - everyone in this situation makes it. You have no choice but to adapt, whether you want it or not." Kumiko replied in a calm, but nonetheless firm tone.

She listened to the rest intently. "Oh... don't worry about that. Even without your eyes, you can still cook - cooking relies on other senses than sight: texture, smell, taste... they can all be used when you cook. It takes me longer than a sighted person, but I'm still able to cook, myself." the bling girl replied - her left hand found the purse that was in one of her pockets, and she held it aloft for Kyo and Masumi to see.

"What you will need the most is order. If everything is where it should be, you won't have any problems - but you'll have to make sure that every object is where you left it, every time. And you'll need to learn new techniques to make your life easier." She searched in her purse for a couple of seconds - her movements were swift and precise, as they always needed to be. "Let me give you an example... I fold my 1000 yen bills and my 2000 yen ones differently, so I can easily recognize them. That is one of the techniques I'm talking about." As she said this, the blind girl took a one thousand yen bill - folded four times - and two thousand yen one - folded in six - out of her purse before putting them back in.

Masumi seemed rather impressed by Kumiko, although she didn't verbalize this; Kyo was the only one in the room who could see the woman's expression, and to be fair, Kyo thought, she was rather impressed as well. More by the ways people could adapt than anything; she was so used to sight that working without it for any length of time was something she had to put quite a bit of effort into imagining. Even then, she wasn't sure how to cope with everything. Spatial awareness was something she was already quite good at, but that was only a starting point. Every individual thing would require its own method, and Kyo only really knew how to do basic things without sight--that and developing film in a dark room...

Takeo listened intently. He knew that blind people could cook, and he did know that keeping things where they belonged every time was essential, but the how and why behind a lot of the things he "knew" was something of a mystery to him at this point. The idea of folding different yen bills differently was a new one to him, but--

"I guess I'll need someone to tell me which bills are which, though," he said dully. "Before I fold them, that is."

Kyo looked to Takeo, frowning slightly. Was he really so bothered by needing other people to help him? She shrugged and said, "Yeah, but that takes like maybe a second o' their time, don't it? Long as ya ask someone that won't dick ya over by tellin' ya your ones are tens, you're good, right?"

Kumiko gave an appreciative nod. "Yes, as long as you can trust whoever is giving you your money back, you shouldn't have any problems... And if you have doubts, you can always ask someone close to you to check if everything's in order, like this Tsubaki person. This is what I do, and it doesn't take a lot of time." she explained in a voice meant to be reassuring.

"Another nifty trick I know... If you want to pour yourself a glass of something, just hook your finger on the glass' side: when the drink hits the tip of your finger, stop pouring." she added, drumming her fingers on her walking stick. "But if you come up with tips that suit you better, you should use them. It will help you become less dependant on others... That's what you want, don't you ?"

Hooking the finger at the edge of a glass to make sure drinks didn't overflow... now that Takeo thought about it, that trick had been something Lilly had used in Katawa Shoujo, too. The writers had apparently been either pretty decent at figuring out how the sightless adapted to sightlessness, or just pretty decent at doing research. The man laughed a bit apologetically and then said, "Right, I almost wish I had some kind of notebook or something so I could write these down. And sorry to go name-dropping people like that... Tsubaki is my girlfriend. I think--you go to Taiyoutono, do you? Or do you go somewhere else? You might meet Tsubaki if you go there. I don't really know what she gets up to at school, though."

Kyo scratched her nose and frowned a bit. "Come t' think of it, I dunno much about what she gets up to at school, either. Don't see her around much."

Masumi blinked cluelessly, and tugged her shawl tighter around her shoulders. She had never once met Tsubaki, so she had no read on the situation whatsoever. She might have been more concerned if she had any inkling of what a psycho-yandere the girl had once been, though. She looked to Kumiko, and smiled a bit. "It really is amazing, though," she said gently. "The ways you can make up for or work around lack of sight. Where did you learn all of these things, if I might ask...?"

"I don't remember meeting someone called Tsubaki at school... I do go to Taiyoutono, though. I haven't been attending the school for very long, so I haven't had the occasion to meet a lot of people." Kumiko replied in an almost apologetic voice. "If you tell me what class she is in or her Bedlam handle, I could try to contact her so we can talk about your plight. Only if you want me to, of course..."

Masumi's compliment brought a smile to the blind girl's lips. "Well... my parents did their best to teach me these tricks. They aren't blind themselves, but they asked other blind people for their tricks when I was born. I have other tricks I've made myself, of course, but I'm far from having invented every single one of them." she explained.

Takeo frowned slightly and looked down, trying to consider whether or not Kumiko contacting Tsubaki was even a good idea. Kyo answered first: she rubbed at the back of her neck and chuckled a bit. "Well, uh, that might not be such a hot idea," she said. "Tsubaki's in a bad state o' mind right now and, and I don't think it's a good idea t' poke this right now..."

Takeo turned his head toward Kyo, and the green-haired girl cringed a bit at the look of indignation he was giving her. "I don't think she's that fragile, Kyo-san," he said stiffly. Then, to Kumiko: "She's in 3-1. If you want to talk to her, go right ahead. Just... keep in mind she's pretty down about this."

Kyo took a breath, and nodded, unseen by Kumiko. Masumi watched the two curiously; she didn't know Tsubaki at all, so... she really had no input to give here. Looking to Kumiko, she smiled a bit and said, "Well, it's all very clever and I'm sure Takeo-san will make great use of everything you have to teach. How much time do you have right now, exactly? Should we, um, should we arrange to have Takeo-san visit you at some point so you can go through these things in more detail?"

"...I understand." Kumiko replied, giving another slow nod of the head. As the other added their two cents about the subject of whether or not contacting this Tsubaki girl was a bad idea, Yumiko started to scratch her chin. "Thank you for these informations... I will think about this later. Telling Tsubaki how she should act to adapt to your new condition might be a good idea..." she said.

She gave a smile when Masumi spoke. "My father is currently running an errand, so we have time... I wouldn't like to keep him waiting for too long, though. Arranging a visit at some point in the future seems like a good idea. We could benefit from a more casual environment, I think..." she replied, giving an affirmative nod.

"Well, I don't want to inconvenience you at all," Takeo said with an attempt at a laugh. "Let's meet up when things are more convenient for you. Kyo-san and Masumi-san can both deal with getting me there, wherever 'there' is, so just tell one of them whenever it's good for you, alright?" He turned his head toward Kyo and Masumi. "That's alright with you, right?"

Kyo nodded and gave a very pointless thumbs-up. "You bet~" she said enthusiastically.

Masumi echoed the sentiment with a more polite, "Of course, Takeo-san. I'll help you whenever you need it... unless I'm a work. Which is most of the time. But the rest of the time I'm open, definitely."

"That's alright with me, Takeo-san." the blind girl quickly replied. "I'm often at home, so finding a proper time shouldn't prove to be too hard. In any case, here's my cellphone number: contact me after school." She recited her number. A smile came to the blind girl's lips as she drummed her slight fingers on the white handle of her cane.

"I'm feeling pretty excited about this... It's the first time I've gotten to share my knowledge on this kind of subject with someone who really needs it. I'm certain it will be an interesting experience." she said, whipping out her own cellphone to call her father.
