"Hm?" Kyo hummed distractedly as she approached the counter. "Oh, yeah, go ahead, I ain't got nothin' t' hide."

And while Kumiko was occupied with scanning, Kyo was occupied with signing. The detailed of her talk with the attendant were about as boring as the attendant sounded; she had that monotone I can't wait to get off this job so I can go clubbing sort of thing going with her voice. Kyo made sure the attendant knew that there were two guests for Takeo Wakahisa and a couple of minutes later she was guiding Kumiko toward the elevator that would take them to Takeo's floor.

Fortunately, Takeo wasn't in the burn ward anymore. The doctors had deemed his actual facial burns less severe than initially believed, as his skin had completely healed over. Only his eyes were still severely damaged at all... because neither his Dia spells nor even Kira Kameko's Diarahan magic could do any more but make eyes look nice again. No matter how much healing they piled on, neither organ would ever regain their intended function.

"Thanks." Kumiko replied quietly. At the instant she activated Tiresias's analysis abilities - she remembered the first day she'd gotten her powers: she'd drained herself dry after keeping the radar up all day, blame the refreshing novelty of the whole thing -, she felt a new, distinctive presence overlap Kyo's: no image formed in her mind, but she felt the world next to her, where the other girl was standing, become heavier, fuller - the presence itself wasn't quite reassuring, and felt actually a bit... alien, compared to Kyo's. Like the same note, but deeper - it made sense, she guessed.

She waited until they were alone in the elevator to talk about the subject. "What's its name ? Your Persona, I mean. Mine is Tiresias, a blind seer from Greek mythology. Yours feels... menacing, to be honest." she said.

Kumiko would be able to feel Kyo's arm stiffen a bit at the word menacing, but a moment later it relaxed, and Kyo heaved a sigh, waiting for the door to close and then punching the floor number they were looking for.

"Aaaaah, hell, you can tell that, can ya?" she said resignedly. "It's called Nevan the Lightning Witch. And no, it's not a very nice Persona. It's actually a boss demon from a videogame, but I don't suppose you'd know it even if I told ya, so suffice it t' say it's one o' the bad guys..."

The feeling of motion as the elevator rose shook Kyo's body just a little bit, as did the stopping motion.

"...I don't really wanna talk about it," she said flatly as the doors opened, and then she moved to guide Kumiko out of the elevator and toward Takeo's room.

She turned her head slightly as she felt Kyo's muscle stiffen a bit after her question. She nodded her head slightly after Kyo's explanation - looked like the nature of one's Persona could be a sore spot for some. "Yes, if you wish. Sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable, but I was merely curious... for a beginner such as me, the nature of our power is really quite fascinating." she replied, in the same calm, even tone she'd used before.

She let herself be guided towards Takeo's room as the elevator doors open. "I have another question... has he learnt one or two tricks from the doctors already, or do I have to start from scratch ?"

Kyo let out a slow breath and tilted her head back, sending the ceiling an irritated look that Kumiko wouldn't be able to see. "It ain't that big a thing, don't worry about it," she said. "Just... bad ascension. It's a handful. Hopefully it don't happen t' you."

"Have the docs taught him anythin'?" Kyo echoed a moment later. "A few things, I think. And I think he had a general idea of how it worked already, but--gettin' used to it's another thing. And really I'm not sure he knows what t' do with himself anymore. Not only does this take him outta the fight, he's--he was--really inta art and stuff. I mean, a few of us've got him some audiobooks and stuff, but y'know, I guess the best way t' describe it is--well, if ya were really inta composin' music and puttin' it together on your computer, and then ya couldn't hear no more? Sorta like that, a bit. I think one thing ya could help him with maybe is findin' other stuff t' pour himself into. Things t', y'know, dedicate himself to."

If Kumiko continued to actively scan, she might notice as they neared the room that two Persona-users were inside. Kyo, on the other hand, only expected one. So when she stopped in front of the door, slid it open, and knocked, her first words were rather surprised.

"Hey, Takeo! I'm back, got that girl with me and--oh. Masumi, hi."

Sitting by Takeo's bed was a woman in a janitor's uniform, who looked up and smiled in a puzzled way. "Oh?" she said. "Another guest? Um--hello there."

Masumi raised a hand in greeting, aborting the motion only as her eyes drifted down and she saw both cane and the way the two had locked arms. "Oh--" she began, possibly the beginnings of an apology, but Takeo happened to speak before she had a chance to put her foot in her mouth.

The boy's head turned toward the door. He was already sitting on the side of his bed, fully clothed. Smiling slightly, he nodded, purely for Kyo's benefit. "Hello," he said. "My name is Takeo Wakahisa. Sorry for taking your time like this..."

Not that Kumiko would be able to see either of these things, but there was a cane set atop the bedside table, along with an MP3 player--loaded with both music and audiobooks, of course. As Kyo led Kumiko into the room, Masumi got up from her seat and shuffled out of the way, moving to stand at the foot of the bed. Takeo's face turned reflexively in the direction of the sudden motion, but then he caught himself. Kyo wondered if she would be that jittery if she suddenly only had her ears to "see" things with, too.

Kumiko gave another nod - it seemed to be her default way of showing ot sighted people that she'd acknowledged their last words. She thought for a few seconds before she spoke up again. "Hmmm... Well, if he was into art, his blindness won't stop him from doing it. It will become more tedious, yes. But if he finds the courage to continue despite his disability, then he'll make it. And he might even become better at it than he'd ever have become with his eyes." she replied.

"I'll have a clearer idea of what I can do once I've talked to him, anyway." she added, falling silent until they'd reached Takeo's room.

She stepped into it alongside Kyo. "Hello ! It's nice to meet you." she politely greeted both of the two people who were in the room, giving a slight nod in the directions she'd heard their voice come from. One of them belonged to an adult woman, and the other to a younger man - the man she'd come here for, probably. "I'm Kumiko Itosu... You don't have to feel sorry. I've decided to come her on my own free time and of my own volition." she replied. She focused her sharp hearing on Takeo, looking for signs of discomfort in the man's voice.

"Do you want to have some privacy while speaking ?" she asked.

"That's fine, just close the door and it should be okay," Takeo replied, shifting a bit in on the bed. "Thanks for coming, Kumiko-san. I have to admit, I don't really know where to start... um, the doctors have me walking, at least, but I was lost up the creek without a paddle when they tried taking me into a crowded room."

The boy chuckled a bit uneasily, an obvious attempt to make light of his own distress. Masumi glanced between the two, and then smiled in realization. "Ah! I see, I see, so... you're here because of that Bedlam post Kyo-san made before. Thank you for coming. Wakahisa-san and I..." (there was audible hesitation, and then an abrupt choice of seemingly simple wording) "--work together, you see, so I'm glad that there are people willing to help him deal with this."

Takeo let out a quiet breath, a disconsolate sigh that was barely audible. All of these people worrying about him, being angry on his behalf, in the case of his girlfriend and his leader expressing the desire for vengeance... it wasn't a bad feeling, knowing all these people cared so much, but the last thing he wanted was to be a burden on everyone else's shoulders, or worse, a catalyst for something horrible.

Kumiko nodded her head - Takeo wouldn't be able to see it, obviously, but it was a simple way to show to the rest of the room that she'd acknowledged what her interlocutor had said. "Yes... as a blind User, I felt that it was my responsibility to answer Kyo-san's call for help. We need to keep the links that bind us together strong if we want to survive and strive." the blind girl replied.

"Do you mind if I sit on your bed, Takeo-san ? It would be more comfortable this way." she asked. The man's problem with crowded rooms was something she could understand - she disliked chaos, too, even if she'd learnt to deal with this kind of situation over time. "I understand... Know that it is normal to struggle around a bit at the start, Takeo-san. You still need to get fully used to your disability." she explained before going any further.

"Even I have problems circulating crowded places at times, you know. Don't hesitate to ask someone to guide you through the room if it is necessary, Takeo-san - and it'll often be. If you use glasses and a cane and know where you need to go, people will leave you enough room to move, most of the time... But it's often more practical to be guided." she continued.

Kyo shut the door quietly behind Kumiko and moved to walk nearer the bed; whether Kumiko came along with her or made her way to Takeo on her own was her choice. "You can have the chair," she said to Kumiko with a careless shrug. "It's right by the bed, to the right."

Takeo nodded, his expression clouding over with a slight helplessness. "Yeah, I... figured as much," he said. "I guess what--what bothers me the most is that I know I'm going to need to burden other people with helping me from time to time. I thought I'd gotten to a point where I could stand on my own two legs, too, but now..."

The boy chuckled, and held his hands up over his knees, palms up. He tilted his head down as if trying to look at them, and then let them fall onto his knees with a faint slapping sound.

"Now it's like someone rudely walked into my room and pushed the reset button on the game that is my life," he said dully. "I feel like everything I've managed to get done up to this point was just wiped clean away."

Masumi winced, and shook her head. "Takeo-san, please don't talk that way," she said. "The things you've done, you've..." But the fortune-teller trailed off, unsure how to phrase her words in a way that wouldn't point-blank broadcast to Kumiko that they were part of a vigilante group. Kyo, on the other hand, had no such trouble. She reached over and gave Takeo a jovial pat on the back, causing him to jump a bit.

"Oi, don'tcha go sayin' nothin' ya did matters now, yeah?" she said. "Ya helped people and those people ain't been un-helped or anythin', right? Don't act like it wasn't worth it."

It took Kumiko a couple of seconds to find the chair, but she eventually sat down, keeping her cane on her lap. Judging by his tone, Takeo was far more than simply "bothered" by the loss of his sight - the feeling was perfectly comprehensible, and even justified, of course, even if Kumiko wasn't sure how much empathy she should have shown Takeo: she was here to help him adjust to hiw new condition, and not to provide him with a shoulder to cry on... Since he hadn't fell into the trap of self-pitying, keeping a respectful distance seemed to be in order.

"Well, if these people know what your blindness entails for them, there is no reason to think that things will go wrong. It may even pull you closer and help you reach a deeper understanding of each other." the blind girl replied.

"Kyo-san and Masumi-san are right. I don't know what you did, but your achievements still stand. And even though you'll need to adapt, I'm sure you can still provide help. Your healing and buffing spells can still be useful in many situations." she added, trying to reassure the man.
