It looked like the repair work on that sinkhole was well underway, to say the least. Kyo had to stop and nod appreciatively at the sight that greeted her when she came into view of the hospital's parking lot. Samurakami Road and Building was handling that, so she'd heard from a few of the passersby on her way here. That probably wouldn't hurt the organization's rep at all, being the company hired on to fix that disaster spot, even if only the Persona-user community really knew the truth behind why and how it had happened. In any event, if Nana could take that ragtag bunch of misfits and get some sort of kosher rep for good, honest work going for them, then more power to her. It wasn't a bad prospect by itself, that, even if it was mostly a cover for something less than kosher.

It was a little loud, though, and considering Kyo was waiting for a blind girl...

In any event, Kyo wasn't sure exactly how to approach this so she just picked a spot outside, off to the side where she wouldn't be in the way but could still see the incoming cars clearly enough, and waited, keeping an eye out for the first sign of someone who matched the description she'd been given: blonde, petite teen girl, and with a cane. Driving a black, nondescript car.

There were a lot of black, nondescript cars coming in today.

Annoying.

Finally, one of the countless black cars stopped - it wasn't any more nondescript than any of the others, in fact, so it wouldn't raise any flags in Kyo's mind. A tall man stepped out from behind the steering wheel and said something to his passenger before the passenger's door opened - a blonde girl feeled the ground with a walking stick for a few instants before stepping out as well and closing the door.

"So... what does your friend look like ?" Hayato Itosu asked as he walked over to his daughter. An expression that spelt oh, crap appeared on his daughter's trait, and she rubbed sheepishly at the back of her neck - she'd given the person that went by "SparkItUp" on Bedlam her own description, but had forgotten to ask about what she looked like.

"I...forgot...to ask." she replied - the expression of her father shifted to one of mild amusement, and he gave a shrug of his shoulders. "Eh, no biggie. As long as she knows what you look like, things should go smoothly." he said, looking around to see if anyone was coming in their direction.

Kyo spotted a walking stick. A blonde girl with a walking stick slipped out of one of the countless black cars, preceeded by a walking stick. Irritation evaporated and Kyo felt a relieved smile slip onto her face. Kyo began walking toward them almost immediately, the daughter and the father. As she neared, she took note of the telltale way nothing drew the girl's eye toward anything--not the construction work, not the impressive hospital building, not even the surrounding motion of comers and goers.

The girl cleared her throat softly as she approached (that noise was lost amongst the other background stuff), and then raised a hand in greeting, catching the father's eye to indicate that she was the one his daughter was here to meet.

Unless Kyo had gotten it wrong and this was some other blind girl who coincidentally matched the description she'd been given down to the letter. Now that would have been irritating.

"Yo!" she said. "The name's Kyo Charinko, thanks for comin' by." She turned to look at the girl. "Thanks for comin', I told Takeo you'd be here for him today and well, prolly coulda chilled an ice-cream flavored Pop Tart on toppa his relief from the look of it."

She was smiling even though she knew the other couldn't see it: plain Jane ingrained habit, really. But maybe her gratitude showed through in her voice? Kyo figured blind people probably grew themselves a better sense for that sort of thing through sheer force of necessity. Either way, she wanted to make her feelings known, dammit. Sometimes you just couldn't say the words "thank you" enough times to get that across properly.

Kumiko's head turned towards the source of the voice as it resounded - not that it would help her see this Kyo Charinko girl better, but it was a reflex she'd gained over the years. Perhaps it would make the girl feel more comfortable, too.

From what she'd heard, this new girl seemed... friendly. Yes, friendly: she had this natural casualness in the way she spoke to people, something that just told you to take the same attitude and enjoy the other's presence - something pleasant. An affable smile came to the blind girl's lips, but her father spoke before she did.

"Nice to meet'cha. Name's Hayato Itosu, I'm Kumiko's dad." he greeted. "And, well, I'm... Kumiko. It's nice to meet you." the teenage girl said, giving a nod of her head. "So, something serious's happened... damn, reminds ya that everything can topple over in a second. You got any idea of how long you're gonna be there ? I don't mind waitin', but I'd just wanna know if I have the time to run an errand or not before you're finished." her father asked next.

Kyo winced just slightly when Kumiko's father opened his mouth and Kansai-ben emerged; great, another someone she'd have to be careful talking around. She'd already spoken up, though, so she couldn't just switch to the other dialect in the interest of not pissing him off...

She looked to the blind girl, Kumiko, and her own smile got a bit more natural again. The daughter, at least, seemed friendly. Kyo turned her eyes to the father again and said, "Good t'meet the both of ya. Not really sure how long it'll take, actually, but if Kumiko here's okay with it, why not, uh, just go do that errand and we'll hang out 'til you get back?"

Please don't mention the accent, Kyo silently pleaded. I know it sounds like I'm some Tokyo upstart faking at Osaka-talk, but that's just the way I talk, no offense meant, please don't get mad at it...

Hayato thought for a couple of seconds - the man didn't mind Kyo's accent or lack thereof, for he considered that accents really weren't worth being focused on. If Kyo decided to hide her own, well... more power to her. Kyo's proposition was reasonable - they were in a hospital, after all, and Kumiko had said that she trusted the person she was going to meet there, so...

"That sounds like a good idea, Kyo-san." Kumiko replied, and her father gave a nod. "Awright, let's do that. Call me when you're done, okay ?" It was Kumiko's turn to give a nod. Her father's voice felt... slightly less sure than it ordinary was, but it was quite normal, she thought - leaving his daughter with strangers wasn't something he was overly fond of doing.

"I'll see ya later. Tell your friend that I'm hoping things will turn out alright for him." Hayato said, stepping back into his car and starting up the engine. The familiar sound of his car drowned out in the continuous humming of the circulation, and Kumiko held out a hand towards where she thought Kyo was.

"Can I take your arm ? I don't know the hospital, and I'd prefer to be guided a bit the first time." she asked, taking her cane into her other hand.

The green-haired girl relaxed. No trouble over her stupid voice was forthcoming... good. Gosh, she hadn't realized how refreshing it was to just speak freely without fear of anyone getting on her case about that, until she'd run into Nana and now Hayato, two cases of native Kansai-speakers well away from Kansai lands. She was just glad Hayato had taken it with more grace than Nana had.

"Got it, boss!" Kyo said, popping off a salute as Hayato turned to leave. Once he was gone, Kumiko requested her arm. Kyo glanced over, and then nodded. Yeah, she'd figured something like that... granted her only real knowledge of blind people was highly suspect: it came from that little freeware visual novel Takeo had recommended to her a while back, Katawa Shoujo. Beyond that she knew exactly fuck-all about how to deal with this stuff.

Kyo took Kumiko's hand, allowing her to find whatever grip suited her best. "Sure thing. Prolly a bit hectic here right at the moment for comfort, huh," she said casually, sending another glance at the construction work. "...I guess ya already heard about the sinkhole and all that mess, though, huh."

The girl would only start to walk once Kumiko had taken her arm. After that, Kyo figured, trial and error was best. If she were blind, she wouldn't want to be treated like a delicate lily-flower... hell, that was pretty much part of why Takeo wanted this sort of help to begin with. So he could still be independent and stuff.

So Kyo began at a relatively ordinary walking speed, figuring she'd slow it down if Kumiko seemed like she wanted to go slower.

Kumiko lightly gripped Kyo's forearm - it let less leeway between the two, which meant a little bit more safety for the blind girl as they travelled in a place she had no prior knowledge of. She gave a nod of the head. "Yes, I can hear that... sounds like they're doing a lot of work around here." she replied. "I heard of it, yes. That's quite terrible."

She had no problem following Kyo's pace - the girl didn't seem to be on the very tall side of things, judging by the lenght of her steps, which was quite helpful. Kumiko felt before her with her walking stick once or twice, otherwise trusting the other girl to warn her if there was something on the way. "Pardon me if I'm indiscreet, but... how did your friend lose his eyes, exactly ? Perhaps the way he's lost them will have an influence on his dealing with his new handicap. A psychological one, at least."

Kyo grimaced. "...It was terrible," she said, speaking of the sinkhole incident. "I was there when it happened, couldn't do a damn thing but help with a cordon but there were bigger, better, stronger folks there t' handle the big stuff, so..." (She opted to lean in and speak in a lower voice for the next bit) "And between you n' me, I fought the bastard who did it twice, once before and once after. He was a real piece o' work..."

As the two entered the hospital, the girl led Kumiko toward the check-in counter so she could sign the two of them in as guests.

"How he lost his sight--" she said quietly. "Well, that's--just don't tell anyone, okay? I said it was a ruins accident on Bedlam t' keep anyone from gettin' mad about it, but it was a hate crime. Y'know how people've been goin' round attackin' folks like us... this was a case o' that. Counter's comin' up, I'll sign us in, yeah?"

Kyo made sure to slow up a bit away from the counter. Fortunately, as they walked, a few of the people who might have crossed their path stopped and let them by, presumably noticing the obvious blind girl being guiding through the lobby and surrendering right-of-way on principle. Because, honestly... why wouldn't you do that?

Kumiko's expression switched to one of slight worry as Kyo told her the story of the sinkhole incident. "Oh, that's... well, I guess it's good that Users and non-Users were able to work together to save people." she replied.

Then, they entered the hospital. The sounds from outside became more muted as the quieter but more diverse sounds of the building replaced them: footsteps on the ground, people speaking, babies crying - it was, in a way, much colder than the outside, much less lively. For good reason, too - the people outside were healthy, while the people inside... well, for a good part, they were not.

"I understand... that's horrible. I hope it didn't hit him too hard besides... well, besides the fact that he's gone blind. I can't completely comprehend how it is to lose something I've never had, but I can understand how helpless he must feel." she replied, giving a nod as Kyo proposed to sign the both of thel in. "Sure, go ahead."

"Can I activate my scanning powers next to you ? If you don't want me to feel your Persona, I can understand. But I am simply curious... I find it interesting to feel other peoples' inner selves." she asked in a whisper, waiting for the both of them to be far enough from the counter not to be heard.
